Willow NES Review - Willow

I'd classify Willow as more of an adventure game, with some RPG elements. Gamers who do not like RPGs will still enjoy this game.

You play the role of Willow Ufgood, a would-be magician's apprentice who must save a baby, Elora Danan, who is destined to be queen, from the clutches of the evil sorceress, Bavmorda, whose last obstacle to total power is the helpless baby.

Along the way, Willow improves his skills by gaining experience fighting enemies and bosses (the only real RPG element of the game), and finds new weapons, shields, and magical spells as he goes. He explores the countryside, as well as caves, and also interacts with other characters in towns along the way. This all leads to the final showdown with Bavmorda in Nockmaar Castle.

This is an excellent game. The graphics are good, the gameplay is solid, and the music is awesome. But what makes the game really excellent is the storyline, which completely draws the player into the world of Willow.
