When the NES was released, it launched with a bunch of crappy sports titles that seemed to have been designed on a lunch break or something (see Nintendo Baseball or Tennis & you'll get the idea). But GOLF is actually pretty decent for it's time. It's got nice mechanics, play options and interestingly designed holes. It's very quiet (like the game itself) and simple though, and the graphics are rough.
