I bought this years ago expecting another candle whipping adventure, but was pleasantly surprised. The fact Konami decided to go with a quest in the sequel was a good idea. The gameplay is a little more relaxed this way, but it's still a challenging game, with unforgettable music like this first one. This game goes from pretty to absolutely weird looking almost every other screen (what's with the black-and white areas?), and the monsters are unique. The only thing that gets a little tedious is the changing from day to night as you're about to talk to a key townsperson. And, I don't know if I beef Simon up TOO much, but Drac is very easy, almost too easy for me to beat in this one. Overall, fantastic sequel. 9 out of 10.
