In SNES

What RPGs did/do you enjoy on the SNES?

I always liked to play Secret of Mana. I also got the Japanese sequel (seiken densetsu 3 聖剣伝説３), but didn't have time to play it yet.
Then there is the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series.

Terranigma (天地創造) is also one of my all-time favourites. Far too easy, but with great depth and gameplay.

I haven't played all that many, but loved Secret of Mana.

Earthbound Zero. I couldn't get enough of that. I played it until I beat it, but that was about 8 years ago! Ha!

Secret of Mana was definitely one of the best games on the SNES. I might well get "Sword of Mana" for my GBA, because it reminds me of the other.

Earthbound has a cool storyline. The characters are weird and thus very interesting, too.

I agee that Secret of Mana is Very GOOD Game, but cant touch FF3.

The game mechanics are quite different, so I usually don't compare Mana with FF. But you're right. In overall quality FFIV (I play the Japanese ones) is a class of its own.

The only SNES RPG I've completely played through is 'Arcana'. It's okay if you like the traditional first-person dungeon maze games that were first made popular by the likes of 'Wizardry' and 'Might & Magic'.

I played the PlayStation revamp of 'Final Fantasy VI'. It's a good game but for some reason, I found myself loosing interest in it as the story went on.

One of these days I'll try out that 'Secret of Mana' and 'Earthbound'. They seem to have good rep.

Secret of Mana is great. And it's not too easy, too. Some kid in my neighbourhood borrowed the game and stuck after some hours. My sister also couldn't get too far.
I had no problems with it. Really nice game.

In order top to bottom

1. Chrono Trigger (A MUST Play)

3. EarthBound (I have such I lvls but can't beat gigus)

I know Earthbound is hard... just try it over and over again. It will end sometime...

Well I don't have too many SNES rpgs cause they are pretty rare, I did enjoy 7th Saga (which I didn't yet beat), Illusions of Gaia and it's prequel, soul blazer. A link to the past, FF Mystic Quest...those were all pretty cool.

I beat Mystic Quest again two weeks before (this time 10 hourish). It doesn't look that great, but it's great fun.

I'm amazed the thread's gone this far without mentioning Legend of the Seven Stars! I've beaten a translation of Bahamut Lagoon, highly recommend. Also, I own Earthbound, but have yet to put any real time into it, I just can't seem to get into it.

I loved lufia 2... hated the first, im a big fan of earthbound but cant get the hang of it.
Zelda was just plain cool but my fave is chrono trigger. Brilliant. Stunning.

I love them all and do not really have an order, but those would be my top 5. If anyone knows where I can find a Translated Dragon Quest 3 and 4 please let me know. My Birthday is the 24th and that would be a great gift.

I finally get what I did Wrong this is the SNES section, Damn I am stupid.

Beaten Lufia II for the second time. Now it's time to find all the chests, get to the world's most difficult trick, getting to fight that egg dragon, and trying to beat that Ancient Cave (a nightmare)

I lend more towards action RPG's like Zelda and Actraiser, but I also really dig Chrono Trigger (greatest rpg ever IMO ) and the SNES Final Fantasys. I also like the Breath of Fire games and Paladin's Quest.

The Snes had some great Rpgs. My favorites (All of which I have beaten) include:

Breath of Fire 1 & 2

My favorite RPG's on the SNES are:

1. Secret of Mana - I loved the fighting system of this one, and the gameplay.

2. Chrono Trigger - A very non-linear and great game, one of my favorites.

3. Super mario RPG: Legen of the Seven Stars - I liked the mario theme of this game and its overall gameplay.

Well, I don't own any of these, but I played them, and really like them:

I think the Final Fantasy games as well as Terranigma are generally overrated, and I never cared enough to play through any of those. I'm sad that there seem to be no Dragon Quest games for SNES (I LOVE the original Dragon Warrior for NES).
