Atari Flashback
Atari releases a game machine with 20 built in games to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 7800.
The games are:
Atari 2600 Classics
Adventure, Air-Sea Battle, Battlezone, Breakout, Canyon Bomber, Crystal Castles, Gravitar, Haunted House,
Millipede, Sky Diver, Solaris, Sprintmaster, Warlords and Yars’ Revenge
Atari 7800â„¢ Hits
Asteroids, Centipede, Desert Falcon, Charley Chuck’s Food Fight, Planet Smashers
Saboteur (never released before)
actually that thing is more fitting on this forum than you might think.
it uses the same NES-on-a-chip as most of those pirate TV games you see. Unfortunately for this case, it caused flicker in games that previously didn't have any. but this is the fault of marketing, as a release date was set and the programmers were only given a few weeks to make it work.
but if you're looking for an NES on a chip, you now know something else that contains them.
Ah... I just found about this, myself. Does anybody know anything about the never-before-released game? It says that it's from the Atari vault... has anyone ever heard of it before?
has anyone bought this and tryed it out i havent played it yet although i usually do play thse things anywayz my point anyone know if its worth the money or not?
Well, I wouldn't say THAT one is worth it, but only because it's claimed that there will soon be a 2600 on a chip, and the games will run natively and properly on it rather than being ported and flickery. Just give it a little while and see what happens, if it doesn't come out with the new chip then by all means, buy that one.
I would stick with the original system unless you're trying to build a portable NES.
Well, one really awesome thing about the Flashback 2... They designed it so if you decided you wanted to put a cartridge slot in it (and had the skills), you could. Check this out:
Yes, the Flashback 2 uses an actual "atari-on-a-chip" so the games play accurately. Also, the cart slot was hyped to be much easier, but Curt Vendel is a liar...
My bro has the flashback. I haven't played it though...
