Good RPGs for Sega Genesis?

In Other Classic Systems

Does anyone know of any really fun RPG's for eather a Sega Genesis? or any other games that are really fun? I know the Sonic games rock but I dont know much about any other games for Sega.

phantasy star games are good, grandia II is good.

Now that you mention it, I don't think I played any RPGs on the Genesis besided Might and Magic... not sure of the subtitle. It was pretty cool. I had a buddy who was really crazy about Faery Tale Adventure. I never played it myself, but it looked different from your average RPG.

I don't think I've played any RPGs on the DC.

I was on ebay and ran across this system I'd never seen before. its called a Sega Nomad. its basicly a Sega Genesis handheld. it plays all Sega Genesis games and its portable. they only cost about $60 - $70 bucks so I think I might pick one up. anyone else have one of these? if so, do you like it? if I get one, I'll post back and tell you what I think. here's what it looks like.

I have one i like it but mine the lighting thing is broke so Its stuck almost perfect. but I like it it works and I won't have to Hook the regular genesis up. oh and you can use the Genesis II POWer cord with it.

what about action RPGs because I love the good ol' Land stalker and beyond Oasis.

For Dreamcast RPGs you can read through the Dreamcast thread where I asked for good RPGs.

(I altered the title of this thread and made it only into Genesis RPGs)

The Dreamcast thread:

'Phantasy Star IV' is for the Genesis.
But it's even better if you play through the first two games of the series, as it makes homages to them.

'Battle Master' plays like a traditional "exploration RPG" but has real-time battles.

'Might & Magic' is the really old-school type RPG with first-person dungeon crawling and hundreds of stat-based battling.

'Faery Tale Adventure' kind of plays like a 'Zelda' game, with overhead view exploring and real-time action battles, but still retains RPG like stats.

'Shining Force' is more of a "strategy" game, but has a large cast of characters and decent exploration to make you feel like you're playing an RPG.

...
From what I know.

Those are "adventure games". Stop reading EGM!

not ah Action RPGs are Action RPGs and Adventure onece u thinik about it.

for the Genesis.

Zen, you put it into pefect words.

Beyond Oasis... Cadash, Lightcrusader, Landstalker are great action rpgs.

Then for your actual rpgs... D&D Warriors of the Eternal Sun, The Phantasy Star Series, SHADOWRUN, Shining Force... check out

GameLegacies.com for more information on Rpgs.

Light Crusader is agame its good.

SHINING FORCE is the GOD of Megadrive RPG's. It's precursor "Shining in the Darkness" isn't bad either.

Also, "Fatal Labyrinth", while not great, is basically a roguelike with simple, console-style graphics. Given that most Roguelike games use text to represent things though, it's still a huge improvement and it can be pretty fun so long as all you want is a little dungeon crawling.

i've got Shining in the Darkness.

i read about Super Hydlyde or something. it looked interesting.

Crusader of centy(or centry,I think), is a good RPG. I,m going to call this a hybrid RPG because it has RPG & adventure elements.

Oh, Hydelide. There's one I've not played in a while.

It's not great to be honest, but it's worth a look at least. There's a lot of slow, and fairly unenjoyable levelling up involved though, as I recall. I never did finish it, either.

Shining in the Darkness doesn't actually bear that much of a resemblence to Shining Force, FYI.

i used to enjoy sword of vermillion
