Remembered for driving cars good?
Do we really need to regurgitate every bit of news that happens?
These threads frustrate me, because people never let go when someone/something dies. You're supposed to remember the good about someone's life, not remember that they're a rotten pile of maggots in the ground.
My cousin died over two years ago, and my sister still includes the R.I.P bullshit in her MSN ID. She also writes it all over shit. My dog died last year, same deal.
I don't recall saying anything about either incident in a public forum (though I may have) because nobody genuinely cares. People should be more concerned with the events of a fellow forum-member that you've spent the last several years conversing with, than with some "celebrity" that I'd bet most people couldn't even identify from a photo.
I'm not trying to say that members SHOULD care about my, or anyone else's misfortunes, but why do you give a good god damn about some guy you've likely never even seen so much as a picture of, beyond the fact that he's "famous"?
In conclusion, I'm a selfish heartless dick, stop with the R.I.P horseshit, you don't care about the incident.
I'll admit I never watched his races, but I played his games(With his name stamped on them) and I enjoyed them quite abit. Luke I hope you know that when you croke I will be making a thread in your memory. ;D
But know I know how you feel about these threads and for you I'll stop posting them unless it was someone on the forum who past away or something.
Telling the last guy who actually posts on the forum not to post?
Nice.

I love you dude
Keep the news threads coming.
To be honest this is the place where I first found out about the late greats: Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit, as well as, Colin mcrae. It's like my Black and neon green cnn.
In fact, in between my visits the only threads that get any attention are: conquered games, ouchYay, game finds, and these news stories. Quite frankly, I don't care what games you beat, unless of course it's difficult and you recorded it so i can see it, rather than read about it (reading isn't my strong suit).

Nice.
Don't be upset with Luke, I can see where he is coming from on this. Since I didn't know Colin personally, I shouldn't have made this thread in the first place.
I am is amused by Luke's reaction. That is all.
I'm not particularly interested in the life or death of whoever this is. Whether or not this thread and others like exist anywhere on the internet is truly not something I care about even a little bit.
That's exactly my point. I'm tired of people pretending to care.
Wow, do you guys really have no compassion? This is disturbing..
If somebody dies, I care, no matter who it is. It is wrong that every celebrity is made a media circus, and the thousands of others who die get no recognition, though.
Have you thought that people may genuinely care, when they find out a person is dead?
You don't care? What the fuck?

Enlighten me.
Why is it that you care? Does this affect you? Were you a fan of McRae? will you miss the entertainment he provided?
I'm not saying I'm totally indifferent to the situation. Sure, it sucks that he's dead, he brought a lot of fans to rally racing, which is something I'm entertained by.
I feel for his family, but not to the extent that I'm going to go starting up "official Colin McRae condolences" threads on every forum on the internets for people to post their fake sentiments in. offering condolences in this fashion accomplishes nothing.
What gets me is that thousands of people are born and die every day, nobody cares. If you say you do, you're a god damned liar. if you EVER smile, that proves it. Why are celebrities any different? Especially ones like McRae, who nobody even knows beyond his name.
Note that no sarcasm or disrespect is intended with the initial question, I'm genuinely curious why I should be all depressed because someone I don't know died. Especially someone who nobody could even identify if not for his name.
This is an interesting discussion, it has actually been on my mind for a while now.
All right, I've never even heard of McRae, but that doesn't matter. So, when Pat Morita (the guy who played Miyagi in the Karate Kid movies) died, I was working at the time, it was this "working week" at school where you had to go and look for any kind of jobs and basically observe and take part in it for one week. I was sitting in a car, on my way to the next assignment. The radio was on, and I heard the news. This is an actor that I've admired, and one I've been watching for so long, over and over. When the news hit me, I was feeling shocked, and a little bit sad, but it was over in like 10 seconds.
The thing is, that when it comes to people you don't know, it's impossible to feel very upset if you're a normal person in my opinion. Sure, you can feel sorry for their families and maybe get a bad feeling in general, but you can never hold on to that feeling no matter if you tried. People might say that it was a tragedy that this "McRae" died, but it'll be forgotten in probably one week tops.
If it's a family member, a wife you hold dear to your heart, then I will belive it. Especially if the person who suffers from the loss, don't advertise the whole deal everywhere possible. If someone lost their kid and go on YouTube the second after to tell the whole world how they feel about it, then I find it to be less belivable.
No, I normally never take part in these threads. Whenever I see a "RIP thread", then you can count me out, because I usually never even know the person (like this one).
Another thing that I feel is bad about this, is the fact that I'm insecure about other peoples' feeling now days. It's like a decease. Whenever someone writes "RIP" in their nick on MSN, I ask out of curiosity who it was. The person might reply "my cat". Now, the two questions that pops up whenever I see this is: 1. Did I really need to know this?, and 2. What the hell am I supposed to answer? I normally just end up telling him that it was a drag...
Seriously, this "McRae" character was probably a nice guy and all, and hope his family cope with the loss, but personally, I have to say that I really don't care much. I didn't know him, I'm not a fan of rally at all, and if you feel this was inappropriate, then excuse me for being human...
Thank you for your time.

Not necessarily Luke.. broaden your horizons. To care, and to dwell on hopelessly are two different things. I think life and the loss of it is too important to be indifferent to.
/stoned but sincere

I don't care, therefore you don't care, therefore don't post? That's the part I don't get.
