GameSpot readers may live and breathe gaming, but the real world prioritizes things a bit differently, apparently. TV Week today is reporting that the cable giant Comcast Entertainment Group has decided to fold the G4 brand. "I do agree with the vision of going after young men more than just going after gaming," E! and Style chief Ted Harbert told the trade pub. "Gaming has been demonstrated as being too narrow." The magazine is reporting that layoffs at G4 are likely. The cable net launched G4 in 2002.
But I wonder if Tech TV will come back here then?
Another gamer "slam" that just ticks me off. "The real world prioritizes things differently"....WTF? Sorry to let you know, whoever wrote that article--video games are made by real people, played by real people, etc., who live in the REAL WORLD.
Idiots !
Nice rant. But I hope TechTv comes back...That channel was sweet. And G4 was good for those Live at E3 things.
ehh, oh well. all those shows were directed at the "typical" 16-24 year olds (by typical i mean how they are portayed in movies, tv, etc.) 90% of the shows suck, with most of them being directed at casual gamers, rather than hardcore gamers.
plus they used fake, not-so-hott "hott" chicks on all the shows. that channel is lame lame lame LAMEEEE!!!!

Agreed. When I first got the channel I was stoked... Then I watched it. I can honestly say I won't miss it.
Wow, I wasn't going to say anything about my opinions on G4, but it looks like I'm not the only one.
Wasn't it odd that only something like, two or three shows on that channel had anything to do with games? Add in some hosts that give "The Funniest Home Videos years" Bob Saget a run for his money, and you have something that I don't want to watch.
the only difference 'Newb, is that Bob Saget was a better host
I enjoyed G4 for alittle bit when we first go it. It was alright then it got worse. And now it's like MTV as MTV doesn't have music anymore and pretty much G4 hardly has any shows about Gaming. Like Attack of the Show when it first started had lots Video Game stuff and now it hardly ever has any. X-Play is crap because of there lame jokes and there harsh review's of games. Call for Help is an alright show. Icons is good or the Video Game Icons is now "Game Makers".
I was only able to catch G4 a few times, and I must say I agree with it being poorly demographed and poor altogether. Another thing is, They had almost no programming for the hardened Classic gamer. It was basically SpikeTV for kids. GOOD RIDDANCE!
TV makes me mad.
o.o

They had some stuff for us, but not much sadly.
By the way, G4 isn't completely over with, it's being moved to the *snicker* E! Network.
So instead of being just gay, it'll now classify as full-on .
couldn't of said it better myself
That was a pretty low blow, but well suited! As soon as I read it I figured out where I have felt that.... that... lack of interest, no that... emptyness, no.. that.. that... damn BORED before, yeah thats it
Sorry Aaron, but I was dissappointed to see it wasn't really gone for good
Hey, don't get me wrong, Bob Saget is funny as hell when he's doing-
Oh, wait. You were saying it was a low blow aimed at the G4 hosts. No. No, it was aptly deserved.
