Croc Hunter dies at 44 in stingray accident.
The naturalist and television star Steve Irwin has died in a diving accident in far north Queensland. He was 44.
Police say he was stung through the heart by a stingray while diving off Port Douglas.
He was filming a documentary when the accident occurred around midday AEST near the Low Isles.
A helicopter arrived with paramedics on board to try to resuscitate him, but it was too late.
R.I.P
I shall remember the times when I watched your Tv show..I loved it... When I get to where ever you go after you die I will bring some beers. Here is to a person who projected the Animals, I salute you Sir!
I know, I can't belive it! I loved his shows too. He was so excited everytime he did a report on something.
The guy got a type of turtle named after him for Christ's sake!
The thing that blows my mind is that this guy has been holding snakes and has teased aligators, and then he dies by the sting of a fish...
I must be the only person in the world who didn't like his show, judging by all the threads that are cropping up at all the forums I go to. Furthermore, I must be the only person who doesn't care when celebrities die. It's not like I knew the guy.
I didn't like his show either, but still... he seemed like a nice, capable guy, and it was a horrifically ironic, absolute fluke of a death.
I never watched his show regularly but if I was flipping through the channels and saw it I would stop and watch it for 5 or 10 minutes just to see what dumbass things he would do. I mean yea its messed up when poeple die but like OSG said I didnt personally know him so it doesnt really affect me.
I think it would have been more ironic if he had died a real normal death, like in a car crash or something like that, seeming as everyone always said an animal would kill him one day.
I feel sorry for his kids, but at least he died doing something he loved.
Edit: Actually having read a bit more about it, I didn't know that it is very rare for a stingray sting to be fatal, so I guess it is quite ironic seeming as he spent most of his life around much more dangerous animals.
I first heard of the man when I saw a parody of him in a cartoon.
I was also not especially a fan of him. I didn't like his exaggerated motions.
Well, I only saw his show once or twice.
May he reast in peace now.
If you watched his show or appearances on jay leno or whatever, you got to know his personality, and that loss is enough to make you feel a little sad.
yeah, there have only been 17 reported stingray deaths in the past 10 years.
It sucks. I heard about it this morning, and was making a tribute this afternoon.
I wasn't a dedicated fan, but I always liked the guy. Actually, tons of people are making tributes like the above one at newgrounds.
But it's still sad that his family is without their father. At least he died doing what he loved.
Indeed, very ironic. And sad, too. R.I.P.
when i saw that on the news, i thought they were going to say a snake or crocodile bit him in the neck, but they said a stingray poked him in the heart, i was like
nah, youtube sucks.... if it does end up on the net it'll be on filecabi.net
