The Silent Hill Movie
Who else is looking forward to this? From the previews it looks like it may actually be a good flick. Being a fan of the series, I can't wait for this one to come out.
I'm not sure about character name changes, but it does look like it may have something to do with the original game. There's one woman on there that strikes me as being Daliah Gallespie ("I should've known."). It looks like they've made the main character a woman for this one, even though it was a dude in the original. That doesn't bother me much though... it's Hollywood, they're gonna do stuff like that to make more money Also, I heard the sirens on the commercial, so that's awesome they're using that, as that is some cool creepy changeover that was going on in the games. The only thing I hope is that they don't try and why Silent Hill is the way it is.
I'm just thinking this film looks promising. Anywho, thoughts?
Oh, Lord,I am praying so badly that this is a good movie. Not just decent, but . The franchise has such potential for a movie...
Is the Silent Hill movie gonna be PG-13?
If it is, then we'll know they failed. Much like Quentin Tarantino with 'Hero'.
I didn't pay attention on the commercials, but .
i've never played Silent Hill, but i will probably see the movie because i like horror movies. from what i know about the game, it'd make a good movie. hopefully it'll be good. atleast it's 'R' rated, any PG-13 horror movie is a failed attempt at accomplishing anything besides a shitty horror movie

I read a While back the guy who wrote it, said that Jill Valentine in Resident evil Apocalypse, was just someone dressed up as her, not the right thing, so he said thats why Harry Mason isnt in his movie.
and from that i just thought this guy as a pretty smart guy.
I am looking forward to thsi movie.
I'm totally pumped. I saw the trailer when I saw that Stay Alive movie... the trailer was the best part of the whole experience.
They probably used a woman because you'd be more sympathedic to her plight than a man's. Plus a man running around scared isn't nearly as fun as seeing a chick running around scared.

I THINK what he's trying to say is that the guy isn't making a movie based on any specific game, it's more like a whole new story set in the Silent Hill universe. That way he can safely deviate from the story of any specific game, and not get reamed by fanboys.
Well, I just saw the movie, and was very pleased with it.
A word to the wise: Do watch this movie unless you have played Silent Hill and understand its concepts and subtle nuances. If not, you will not come near to understanding the movie.
As its own entity, the movie is very cool. However, they special cameo role.
The mood and look of Silent Hill is captured perfectly, including very good instrumental numbers... though these are outweighed by relatively new age-type numbers. The monsters are great, and gore isn't overused (though when it occurs, it's ).
Now, only three things really bugged me. First, the movie beats you over the head with religious symbolism. Two, the only character you ever really feel sorry for is the husband, mainly because of the third flaw, which was the gratuitous stupidity on the part of the main character.
I would recommend this movie to any Silent Hill fan. It wasn't as religiously devoted to the source material as I hoped it would be, but I was very satisfied by the fact that the film makers obviously understood and greatly respected the series.
Oh, and it proves without a doubt that Uwe Boll is a hack who blames his dismal failures on others.
Sorry, I just had to say that.
I think i'll wait until it's on DVD to watch it.
It's really not that frightening (plenty disturbing, though), so I wouldn't imagine the theatre experience to be superior to home viewing. Drawing the blinds and turning off the lights'll be just as good.
Just got back a bit ago from the movie.
I liked it and would have to agree with Newb about playing the games before seeing it.
I'm still pondering a couple things in the movie but I don't want to ruin it for anyone so I'll ponder on them a bit for a few months (until most people that will see it, indeed do see it).

pm me, I think I've got it figg'r'd out.
Don't give away the cameo!
I've never played the games (yeah yeah, I probably should, blasphemy, etc) but even so, the movie was excellent. I had no preconceptions going into it, and didn't know really ANYTHING about what to expect.
There wasn't (IMO) too much religious symbolism, it was just the way it was. Gore, scariness, all pretty good. Yeah, it wasn't excellent / mind blowing but it was definitely a solid film, probably even worth the money.
Wrong thread, Ogtl.

Well, fine, then.
Jerk.
Yes. Yes, there was. A giant neon cross blazing over the background right after the young girl almost kills herself is just a much.
This movie rocks... period. See it if you haven't. I was HIGHLY impressed by this movie.
What's even better is the fact that they supported the idea that there were Silent Hills, and not three ;)
They reviewed it in the newest issue of my favourite DVD mag and they said it's good. You guys say it's good. I must see it, too.
i recently saw it. i thought it was an ok movie, nothing spectacular. i've never played anything from the SH series, so i can't say if related to the games or not. but i wasn't too impressed with this movie.
I saw it on DVD and I thought it rocked.. Course I only played the game for about 5 mins when I rented it a few years ago.
