Video game obsession.. Painting my house in Pacman murals

In Off-topic

You know you are obsessed with video games when...... You go as far as painting video game murals in the house... I'm doing my garage up in video game murals.. PacMan, Link, Galaga and various other old school games.

Haha, awesome. Get some M.C. Kids scenes going.

Make sure to hide small Space Invaders in surreptious places. See who can find them.

Thats an awesome thing to do! *imagining painting murals of video games on walls*

I like the idea of hiding the space invaders!! Kinda like Where's Waldo cept much much cooler! In case anyone wondered what the kanji stood for, it's Japanese for PacMan in honor of it's creator Tohru Iwatani.

Nice. I'd love to have such a garage.

One little correction: Those are not kanji (kanji are the characters Japan imported from China), the written stuff on the wall is the "katakana" alphabet.

Ahh ok! What exactly is the katakana alphabet?

Was what I painted readable? While I got you here let me ask you a coupe of noob questions.

Japanese reads from top to bottom instead of left to right?

And
I had cross referenced the characters off a few sites.. and wasn't quite sure till I saw this pic

the second character that looks kinda like a smile shows the "eyes" towards the bottom of the smile.. where a couple other results shows the "eyes" at the top of the smile like this

Could you tell me which is correct? I know it kinda sounds nitpicky.. though if I'm gonna go through all the effort of doing it I want it to be correct. I deeply appreciate any info or corrections you could give me!!

Looks radical. I can't wait to see what else come up! I wish I had talent

Actually this one was rather easy. I painted the door blue, and using a box cutter I cut out cardboard stencils for PacMan and the ghost a little spray painting later bam there you go. The hardest part was actually the katakana (thanks for the correction Maneul!!) Which I had never attempted before, that was freehanded on the door with an artist's brush.

Nice. I'd love to have such a garage.

It was readable, don't worry. And rather good for somebody who didn't even learn it.
If you want it perfect, I'd change the last character, the "n".
On your wall the "n"(ン) looks a bit like the syllable "so"(ソ).

There's a good explanation of Katakana on wikipedia.

Look up the "n" and the "so" in the provided table, and you'll see that they resemble each other quite a bit.

Dude thanks! You rock! Appreciate the kind words and a point to the right direction!

You rock, too, especially your garage.
