I gots 'n idear.

If you want to know why someone isn't posting, or why a thread got deleted, ask about it here. That way, we don't get five hundred "Where-is-So-and-So?" threads (because usually said posters were just busy with something else).

But , use the search function to look for threads or posters before asking.

Where is Murder_Killz? He has not posted in a long time.

I keep meaning to e mail him, but forget to.

And please, look for already-existing threads before you make a new one. ( I do it alot too)

I don't know what the deal with the Oh Luke thread was, it was deleted lightning fast, before I could look at it. Either it was deleted by Roth or NES-Luke, or the author deleted it shortly after they posted it.

OK, now that everyone assumes I'm just being an asshole...

_I_ didn't remove anyone's PM privleges. Though the mature thing to do would have been to contact the admins and perhaps ask why, rather than throwing a fit.

I did ban Toubabou... whatever... for one week, as punishment for inappropriate actions. he's completely free to come back, even welcome, if he can grow up, and think before he posts things, and maybe read a thread once in a while.

and no, the NES files is not run without consultation of any sort. we admins/mods are the police, nothing more. I'm COMPLETELY fair, you have to do something pretty bad to annoy me enough to get any real punishment. Matter of fact, the only punishment I've handed out, other than the constant banning and deleting of cracked8ball's spam accounts, has been Toubabou... that guy... and he has been warned for MONTHS prior to any action.

And to explain just how many chances he had... He posted a SNES game in one of the NES threads, even though it was stated AT LEAST 3 times within the 5 posts of the thread that it was to be NES only. So I posted my usual comment in the thread, and him being the genius that he is, posted another SNES game in response. so I deleted all three of our posts, (his initial one, my comment, and his antagonising post) and sent him a warning PM. he responded with this:

I really don't see that much of a problem with this...... Sure, this is a "Gaming Forum" but it is one of the most friendly.

It probably became that way by:

1. People posting in the Off Topic forum and exchanging issues. Which results in people having a sense of friendship and understanding in the forums. (would you visit your friend everyday if he/she just wanted to talk about one thing everyday all day?)

2. Having a wide variety of people with different ideals and interests (which might result in the NES-Luke vs the world ordeal). I do not think that he is being an a-hole, he just has different opinions on how this place should work (so does )

3. Having little discussions just like this one

Now I am not saying that it should become a chat room where the topic of discussion is about everything but NES. I agree with Luke that there should be more posting in the other forums, if you look at the total posts of the "Off Topic" forum there is about three times as many posts as any other forum. I am also guilty of "Off Topic Posting" and I try not to just post for the heck of it (its just so addictive ).

Then again... just a stupid n00b to the forum so what do I know?

Even if it's the internet, it's a form of respect towards others to stick to the rules. And guys who don't respect others shouldn't be on this forums.

There's really a lot of Off-Topic posting, and I do that a lot, too. But that's just because we're not gaming 24/7. I think it's good to be able to exchange thoughts on other topics, too.

And we should make sure not to play the Good cop/bad cop game here.
I think we mods do a pretty good job here. The forums are quite clean. And that's because we delete a fair lot of spam posts and make this place worth while.

Well, I got a response from Jenni, apparently she got no warning about her PM privileges getting revoked, she found out when she tried to pm NES-Rules about cartooning schools, she says that she's only made one PM in the past week.

It seems as though she doesn't know what she did... if the reasons for her privileges being revoked aren't suitable for open discussion, maybe the party of the privilege-revoking could email her and let her know how she erred?

If any of that came out wrong, please, keep in mind that this situation is uncomfortable and I'm trying to be tactful...

She was only going to answer me about a question I asked. Since she is very good when it comes to art, I wanted to get some information about entering art school. That's all. I know it's nothing NES related, but it certainly should be allowed to talk about whatever you want when it comes to PM-ing, as long as it's nothing offensive. Jenni is in no way offensive or anything like that when it comes to her posts. As a matter of fact, it is nice to have a chat with her once in a while. So that the fact that she lost the right to PM and that she might be leaving makes me a little sad.

I do not in any ways look at NES-Luke as a "Bad Cop" or anything like that. I think he's doing a very good job. I think he's just being misunderstood. Toubabokoomi was not beeing fair to NES-Luke in particular, as I understand it he was given a warning, sorry, a thousand warnings and still kept going on.

About all the Off-topic business...A whole lot of the members enjoy themselves in that forum. If you had a bad day, you can talk about it. In all the other topics you can get adVice, but only things that are NES related and so on. In the Off-topic you come up with much more things to say rather than in the other forums. You can get adVice that can help you in your daily basis. You can get adVice on what you can say if you want to go out with a boy or a girl for example. Which is what attracts more people to that forum, where they can in all have fun and talk about whatever they want.

I'm sorry I lost my temper. I don't like surprises (even the good ones).

For the past couple months I've been not well. I'm never really well, but I was really not doing too good.

I'd like to think I have complete and utter control over me, but that isn't always the case. Being Bi Polar and having Obsessive Compulsive Disorder are hard, but when I get stressed out things get even worse.

That's the real reason I was gone for a few days the week before last. The stress of my marriage, my best friend kissing me, everything financially falling on my shoulders, and work in general was causing me to not only hear static (I call it that, it sounds more like when you walk into a crowded cafateria and you hear things, just nothing in perticular), but I started to hallucinate. I started waking up in the middle of my sleep to see if the oven was on (even if I know I didn't use it). So I started to lay off the drugs (for more than a couple weeks now) and I feel a little bit better.

I'm telling you all this because I don't want anyone worrying if I disappear for days on end. If I am gone for more than a couple weeks, then you can start to wonder. I just don't want to alienate anyone or be nasty and mean; so when I'm sick-sick I'll stay away.

(This is something I always do when I'm trying to find my relatives address's because I suck at remembering things).

If you know the last name, his city and state just put it into the white pages.(this works for me due to my maiden name being UNcommon) I'm sure he wouldn't have his own phone but if you only pop up with one last name in that city that it's probably him.

But I'd advise a person to only do this if they were his actual forum friend, otherwise you'll just come off as some crazy person.

As for the "no NES talk" thing, Yeah, we joined here to talk about it, but to be honest, it's a 20 year old video game console. There's no news, pretty much all of the discussion about the good games has been played out. I think the whole "scene" is suffering similarly, though most sites won't admit it.

When you're through with all the interesting games, there's just nothing new to do. Usually there are not many news about a 20 year old console.

Basically most NES forums are the same. They talk about NES, then have a bit sidetalk about other consoles and lots of off-topic stuff or bragging about collections.

I guess we could have more discussions again when the Wii is out.
I see talks about what games are downloadable and what games are missing... about why some games are not on the Virtual Console, andsoforth.

Well, I'm going to "get lost" for a few days while I settle into my moderator position at the other forum...

I'm really sure that a while ago I saw a thread entitled "pictures of your gaming area" (or along those lines) but I can't seem to find it. Did this ever exsist? Or should I call the men in white coats?

No, but thanks anyway. It probably never exsisted (or could have been on another forum) it was were you would post a picture of your consoles/tv/where you game etc.

I'm going away with my family, and I've been notified that a girl that went in my class while we were in elementary school is leaving tomorrow as well, she's also staying at the same hotel I've discovered. So I'll probably hang out with her.
