Personally I like both series. But if I had to choose a captain I'd pick Picard (I like that song).

I don't even watch Star Trek. But I vote Shatner.

My Vote went for Captain Kirk.

Kirk. He didn't ask who was better, he asked who would kick whose ass. Picard was old. Kirk spent every other minute fighting people. It's a done deal.

Personally, I love Star Trek. I'm not one of those people who go to the conventions and dress up like a Klingon or anything, but I've had a deep love for Star Trek ever since I was a little kid. There was this channel when I was a child that aired all of the original Star Trek episodes. I used to tape EVERY one of them commercial-free. I don't have those tapes any longer because they got destroyed in my mothers' basement while I was in the Marine Corps, but I had all except two or three of the episodes on tape. The only one I had to purchase that they never would've aired was the pilot episode "The Cage," with Cpt. Christopher Pike. It was eventually revisited in an episode called "The Menagerie," but it wasn't actually the show... I think it was more of a flashback episode if I recall correctly (it's been a LONG while).

ST: TNG was awesoime as well! I remember when it was first coming out. My father was part of this organization called the SCA (Society of Creative Anachorism). It was a group of people who made their own armor (helmets, chain mail, shields, Gauntlets, etc.), and used some sort of wood with duck tape as swords... then they beat the hell out of each other Anyway, all those guys were also into Star Trek, and when TNG was coming out, one of them had a party at their house. We went there to watch the first episode, and it was a blast! I definitely do like that series... the effects were great, and I love that they continually built on the characters like in the original. New enemies were quite welcomed as well... Q, The Borg, etc. How cool was it when you saw the Enterprise seperate into two parts!?!

Overall though, the original is my favorite. I kind of like that old style of cheesy acting, and the characters themselves had a charm to them that just couldn't be beaten.
