1. Dogtanian and the three muskehounds
2. Duckula
3. Danger Mouse
4. Around the World in 80 days with Willy Fog
5. Cities of Gold
I loved all of these as a kid and have since purchased DVD's of the first 4. They are so funny to watch even as an adult and have amazing theme tunes. Cities of Gold I don't remember much about except it was my favourite programme when I was about 5 years old.
Inspector Gadget
The Smurfs
Captain Future
Looney Tunes (Roadrunner & Coyote, Pepe le pew, Bugs Bunny)...
No love for Teddy Ruxpin?
No particular order-
Captain Bucky O' Hare
Count Duckula
Inspector Gadget
Turtles
Transformers
I know there are more I like, but I can't think of any right now. how embarassing
Oh, Teddy Ruxpin gets all the love from me!
As well as Thunercats, Inspector Gadget,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Smoggies, SMB,
Megaman, Sonic, And a heap more that I can't think of right now.
Some of those may be from the 90's but I loved them during my childhood.
EDIT: I'm sorry to all the US citizens, you guys didn't get the Smoggies until '94, and then it was on HBO...
THE SMOGGIES! Wow.
Smoggies smoggies,
Smokey, oily, greasy
Smoggies smoggies,
Smokey, oily, greasy
Have you met the Smoggies?
We love the soot and grime,
We make the whole world dirty,
And we have a real good time.
We love to make things messy,
Just as dirty as can be,
And you can bet we'll mess you up ecologically
Sun-tots, Sun-tots,
Earth and wind and sea and,
Sun-tots, Sun-tots,
Earth and wind and sea and,
Make way for the Sun-tots.
A neat and tidy crew,
We'll stay young forever,
And we want the same for you,
If we get your magic coral,
Then forever young we'll be,
Do you think you'll find it somewhere in the clear blue sea?
Thank you for that trip down memory lane.
Didn't watch that many shows in the 80's. I did watch the X-Men Cartoons in 1992.
My favorites: He-Man, Inspector Gadget, Count Duckula and the smurfs.
I loved....
C.O.P.S
Smurfs
Snorks
My Little Pony
G.I. Joe
Inspector Gadget
Ducktales
Transformers
Thundercats
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Gummi Bears
and my brother and I used to wake up early every saturday to watch USA Cartoon Express
I loved....
C.O.P.S
Smurfs
Ducktales
Add those three to my list as well, I don't know how I forgot The Smurfs!
The smurfs rule.
But sometime in the 90s they changed the voice actors (German version)and newly dubbed it and gave the smurfs new names, that's when a lot of the fascination was gone.
Nobody out there for Captain Future? (I don't know whether that was released in the US or under what name...)
i was born in '91, but I used to watch Turtles and VHS tapes of G.I.Jooooooooe,
The real american Heroo
Now we know
and knowing is half the battle!
Captain Planet, he's our hero
Gonna take pollution down to zero!
Though, Captain Planet missed the 80s by a single year. However, it's still noteworthy..

I loved Captain Planet. I probably would have never watched it if it wasn't for my brothers who liked it first.
Jeez. Eighties cartoons. From age three to eight, I Transformers. Rooted for the bad guys, though. Except in Thundercats. I rooted for the good guys.
Well, not the kids. Or Snarf. Or Tigro. Or Cheetara. Or, really, Liono. Except his sword was cool, so I accepted him. Okay, I watched it because of Panthro.
Never really like He-Man.
I was a Thundarr fan. Lazer swords!
This is sort-of relevant to the topic, so I'll stick it here.
Holy toon heaven Bat-Man! I had forgotten about alot of these cartoons! Add all the above with some nachos FTW!
I don't think anyone has said
Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers yet but it's definitely worth a mention, especially considering it spawned the NES game. It just sneaked into the 80's in 1989. I also liked Alvin and the Chipmunks. The one thing I remember about that show is that my mum hated the voices.
Oh god alvin and the chipmunks! My mum and dad hated those whiny little so and so's voices. I quite liked the show however.
As for Captain Planet, I vaguely remember watching it so I must have liked it.
Captain Planet rocked (I LOVED the cheesy plots)
I know this was totally 90's but
Darkwing Duck was
Super Cool too!!!
This may have been Canada only, but "The Raccoons" kicked all kinds of ass.
This show represents the pinnacle of early childhood cartoon watching for me.
This may have been Canada only, but "The Raccoons" kicked all kinds of ass.
It certainly did. I watched it about as much as anything else back in the day.
Ha! Thundarr the Barbarian! Ookla, Arial... Wow! I haven't thought of that in a while!
I used to watch a crap-load of Muppet Babies as well. Oh... and M.A.S.K.! That was short-lived, but really cool. Another short one was the Pirates of Dark Water. I think that was more nineties, but still VERY cool. Laugh-a-Lympics was fun to watch. I remember an episode (one only) where the Really Baddies won.
Ah... old school cartoons!
I almost forgot...
What about the ....
Wuzzles (I still have my Moosel and Hoppopotamus stuffed animals)
Shirt Tales (I have a Digger stuffed animal)
Muppet Babies
Get Along Gang
Thundarr was awesome!
I also liked Dungeons and Dragons...and another called Blackstar, he was a warrior type that battled a demon looking guy called the Overlord. Don't know if it was on to long.Tarzan was cool too from what I remember of it. Liked the Muppet Babies episode where Fozzie was "Woobacca the Cookie",lol. Most of the stuff I watched as a kid was on CBS, that's all my grandma could pick up on her antenna

At work we talked about all of those and we even mentioned Salute Your SHorts not a Cartoon but I watched that all the time.! I also watched lots of Pink Panther
there was a
Battletoads Cartoon im not sure if it were 80s or 90s or any thing , but it was only on Snowdays when CArtoons were on instead of news and stuff like that.
80's cartoons?
It's all about He-Man, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Dungeons & Dragons, and Garfield and Friends.
Of course, watching all of those action cartoons from the 80's was only half the experience. You had to own the toys and action figures too (to get the "full effect").
I still have old VCR tapes of "Garfield and Friends" too. Now that I have my "Analog to digital video converting de
Vice" I'll be able to put them on DVD.
I also have a few "Rude Dog and the Dweebs" episodes.
What about
Bravestar
Street Sharks
I also used to watch Ulysses 31.
feast your eyes on some 80's cartoons....
That's a cool collage.
I know all of those except 2.
just something I did in some spare time... what 2 do you not know?
I'm gonna go with the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and SMB3 cartoons, I've got all of them! I probably watched something else as well, but it's probably not worth mentioning, since i can't remember them.
*EDITED*
Hey nes rule, just a tip, you can EDIT your posts.
And SMB3 and SMB1 got their own cartoons?? sweet....
I feel this may be appropriate (as all of us seem to like He Man) but today I saw a really really sweet looking he man game for the PS2 today, really cheap as well. Could be worth getting.
Also, Inspector Gadget was good too. Film kinda stank (even though it had "Ferris Bueller" in it and Mr T)
Hey nes rule, just a tip, you can EDIT your posts.
And SMB3 and SMB1 got their own cartoons?? sweet....Yeah, I know that it is possible to edit your posts, but I just figured out that if I did send a new post instead of edit the old one, I would be just a bit closer to become a koopa paratroopa. Anyway, yeah, the SMB1 cartoons was showed on the FoxKids channel (Jetix now) and I have all the 6 SMB3 videos.
This is exactly the reason why I think post counts should only show up in users' profiles and the special ranks should be removed. Who cares how many times you have posted? We are all judging you by the quality of your posts, not the quantity.
Back on topic. It's not really a cartoon, but Fraggle Rock and Under the Umbrella Tree were a couple of my favourites. In fact, all Jim Henson shows featuring muppets were amazing.
I don't know the one riding on a strawberry and the other that says "Rainbow Brite".
i believe the strawberry one is "strawberry shortcake" Mostly a girls cartoon i think... and i dont know what the rainbow brite one is either
She-Ra Princess of
POWer!!!!! I can't believe that one has gone unmentioned.
Also surprised people here don't know Rainbow Brite and Strawberry Shortcake! Even if you are guys...come on! Those were great shows!
One of many reasons it's great to be Canadian is apparently we had some cool shows Americans didn't or didn't get till later.
Have to say, was a huge fan of Teddy Ruxpin, the Raccoons, Smoggies (I had forgotten about that one!) and of course My Little Ponies...I used to have the castle and everything... those were the days. Also, me and my little brother would watch Spiderman the cartoon everyday at lunch time, then Gummy Bears altho they weren't as cool and we had to leave before the end.
To name a few more
Jabber Jaw
Punky Brewster and Friends
Camp Candy
Denver The Last Dinosaur
Kissyfur
Foofer
PacMan
Go-Bots
Rambo
Dennis the Menace
Aw, man I was a cartoon junkie growing up. I watched:
Transformers
M.A.S.K.
G.I. Joe
HeMan
Thundercats
Cops
Rescue Rangers
Ducktales
Robotech
Lone Star
Go Bots
Captain N
and many more I can't even remember.
Do any of you remember a cartoon I think was called Kid Video. It was a about a group of teenagers in a band that got pulled into this allternate dimension by this crazy fat guy. I remember they all turned into cartoons and their truck turned into some kind of space ship and there was a fairy who had almost explosive sneezes. That was a cool show.
Also does anyone remember the one about this guy who would turn into a red sports car when he got hot? I've got some friends who remember it also but nobody seems to be able to recall the name.
Also, many believe that Cities of Gold was never aired in the U.S., but I know for a fact that isn't true. Nickelodeon aired it for several runs. I know because I would watch it almost every day after school. It was also one of my favorites.
I do remember Kid Video! Didn't they play an actual music video at the end of the show?
Hey I think they did. I can't remember if they did it every episode or not, but weren't there different songs that they sung? I think I remember one where the girl sang a slower love song.
It's been so long ago I can't remember....but I think they did have different songs. Didn't they have some sort of a monkey type creature that tagged along? I'm gonna have to Google this now and find out...lol.
I can't remember any monkey creature, but my memory is fuzzy about it. The two characters I seem to remember the most where the fat kid who was always trying to come up with some new cousine or make a pizza, and that fairy that sneezed really hard.
Just incase any of you Thundercats fans didn't know about it I saw a comercial today advertising the DVD collection of the first season (13 episodes). I know people sell bootleg copies on ebay, but they cost about a hundred bucks.
I did watch
Super Mario Bros. and
PacMan, but I think that's it. Now looking back at those shows, I'm thinking, " Did I seriously watch this?!"
I enjoyed...
G.I.joe
Rambo(animated series)
Thundercats
Ronin Warriors
Dennis the menace
Bucky O' Hare
Transformers
& there was some mech show that was like gundam, but I don't remember it that well.
Captain N
SMB1 & 3 series(& i think there was a 2 series)
Zelda series
Castlevania series
I think the
Zelda series & SMB series came on during Captain N.
Oh man that's gonna be sweet as. It also appears NES Dude is back.
usa cartoon express was the great show on the planet.
turbo teen
paw paws
jayce and wheeled warriors
silverhawks
Well, I've been thinking of the cartoons I used to watch, and I realize that I don't even remember what some of them were called, which sucks because I've never been able to track them down. I was wondering if you guys could help out, because I've been looking for these for years without any luck.
The first one that I want to remember is very singular, so someone might be able to identify it.
From what I remember, it was a relatively serious cartoon about (more or less) zombies/monsters playing football.
... Anyone? Didn't think so.
The second one I want to remember was a seriously kickass cartoon, so it may be somewhat more identifiable, might actually be from the early nineties...
Can't remember that much about it, but the basic premise seems to have been an all-out space war between humans and these musclebound, blue, humanoid aliens. They would use heavily armed, robotic space suits to fight each other... ring any bells?

Reboot?
No, it was way cooler than Reboot... It was realistic, the blue aliens used to be used as workers by the humans, until they rebelled and took over Earth...
Dammit, I can remember the show, just not what the space suits were called, what the aliens were called, or what was called, so I can't identify it.
i remember something like that, but of course have NO IDEA what it was called
i absolutely hated reboot!
i remember something like that, but of course have NO IDEA what it was called
.
However, I do have good news... I saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico.
Oh, and I found out what the space cartoon was:
Neo Sapiens! E-Frames! THis show kicked .
I remember watching that "Reboot" show a couple of times a long time ago, but I never remembered the name of it...Finally, I know!
And knowing is 1/2 the battle!
(sorry had to get my G.I. Joe line in)
And knowing is 1/2 the battle!

hahah. that never gets old!

No. Watch GI Joe: The Other Half. It'll explain everything.
Thundercats
Transformers
Ducktales
Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers
Well, I had quite a few that I watched
Transformers
G.I. Joe
C.O.P.S.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
USA Sunday Cartoon Express

Really? Not that it was such few cartoons, but for some reason, I always thought you got to see a lot of the old 80's cartoons, even your son likes the good old stuff.
Those were the main cartoons that I watched. There were others, but those were the most... influential maybe? Anyway, yeah. The USA Cartoon Express. Man, that was awesome. Anyone who didn't get to experience that missed out. It was on every Sunday all morning. It had TONS of cool cartoons on it; the Laugh-A-Lympics being one of them. There were other cartoons for sure, but those were my favorite ;)
That's what I'm talking about, I probably missed a whole bunch of cool stuff, but I've gotten to see alot of cool stuff in my early childhood as well. I didn't watch The USA Cartoon Express, since we didn't have any channels that showed it. Which means that I didn't watch the Laugh-A-Lympics, and don't even know what it is...Oh well, maybe I'll get to one day. Today it's only fads...

I found it!
Thank you, I-Mockery.
Yes, it was based on the Mutant League games for the Genesis, starring Bones Jackson (or "Justice" in the show) and KT Slayer.
Loved this show.
Sounds pretty cool, Newb. It looks like a typical classic super hero 80's show.
Old thread, but oh well.
Can't believe nobody posted about Voltron. Great cartoon (even though it spawned
POWer Rangers).
I was really into He-Man and G.I. Joe. For some reason, I never really watched Transformers.
