Any good file sharing programs?
computer with a cable modem. Does anyone know of any good file sharing programs (preferably for MP3's) with the exception of WinMX or Limewire? They keep going kaput on me.
Kærar þakkir!!
(Icelandic for : Thank you very much!)
Surely one of those will fit the bill.
I suggest Limewire.

I you like downloading full albums that are ripped properly with full ID3 tags, I suggest one of the many torrent clients (Azureus, BitComet, BitTornado) and some torrent sites ().
If you just like downloading a song here or there, I would suggest Ares Lite.
Just as Mr DNA said, bittorrent is very good for mp3s.
Last time I downloaded a new album from The Pirate Bay. I ordered the CD, but it took a while so I downloaded it for my wife to listen to in advance. A full album in 30 minutes. And that with my rather slow connection.
I always use azureus, that's a great piece of software.
Definately use Limewire. It's the only program I've found that only puts one spyware program on your PC (adware file called Limewire) but I've had it on my PC for almost a year and the soyware hasn't screwed up or slowed down my system at all.
Well, everyone who grabs movies and such, you might hate to see this:
This link was posted on NES Channel by Slappy... any thoughts?
That won't touch me. I'm only downloading Japanese TV-shows.
And even movies will always be downloadable somewhere and nobody can do anything against it.
I suggest you look up the "legal threats" page of the Pirate Bay. That's so funny.
Yeah, I know there will always be ways around the stuff. Especially in other countries
It's not about whether or not you can afford it, it's whether or not you have the legal right to own copies of things for which you did not purchase a consumer license for.
That's what you are doing when you buy a movie, CD or video game. You aren't paying for the disc, or the cover, or the label. You are paying for the content and the right to use it in a private setting.
You can whine about prices all you want, it will never be legal. I mean, I can't afford a Ferarri, but I dont go out on the town stealing them either.
I support the people who are trying to eliminate piracy. They are fighting for their right to own intellectual content. It is their constitutional right. On the flip side, I do not support how the RIAA and others have been dealing with those they catch. I think they are too harsh. I've read articles about college students losing all their savings and having to drop out of school. But, once again, it is the RIAA's legal right to seek compensation for what was taken from them.
All that being said, I still pirate music and movies. I just understand their point of view, and legally, they are justified in it.
21$??? US-$??? WOW.
I went to see Episode 3 in Munich in a cinema called "Cinema" (yeah), where they show original versions of movies. There are always a lot of Americans around.
I paid 4 Euros in the afternoon (at night it's a bit more expensive) and that's around 5$ I guess. That's fair I think.
I've tried many file sharing programs and I've only come across one which I swear by. Soul Seek:
I only ever download underground music but Soul Seek is the only site that even has 5% of the bands and artists I look up. If you like extreme metal, avante garde, noise, drone, electro acoustics, pretty much anything underground you'll have a good chance of finding it here.
Yeah, soulseek is the best place for bootleg and underground stuff. It was the only place I could find with loads of Bad Religion concert videos.
