this is kinda stupid, but...
I was working on a dedicated NES site on my website, and I was working on a logo.
Tell me what you think.
I think the person being in the picture is kind of tacky. It does remind me of how the old NES commercials were, however. Is that you in the pic and your avatar?
COMING SOON TO A THEATER NEAR YOU!
He was a young boy with a passion for gaming. He played the NES until the motherboard fried. He was obsessed with being the ultimate Nintendo champion!
After failing to make the high school hockey team, he travels to a distant land on a quest to become "like totally rad". There, he learns by using the secret techniques of the shaolin gaming masters. He then stores all of his gaming skills in his magical mullet, only to release them on unspecting NES opponents.
Will he prevail!
Will he become the Nintendo World Champion of 1987?
Will he win the respect of gamers worldwide?
Will he lose his virginity?!
Find out in the exciting sequel we've all been wating for...
Starring: Fred Savage's 3rd cousin - the guy from Napoleon Dynamite- and Corey Feldman
Featuring a soundtrack by "Journey"
Rated PG (pretty generic)
ah that was good for a laugh. Mean, but good for a laugh, hopefully EvilNES is a good sport about it.
as for the image, I'm going to have to pretty much agree with Roth on that one... reminds me too much of the terrible commercials in the 80s
Hahahaha, I'm not going to be NEAR as mean as Z.E.N. about it, but I'm going to be honest:
It's very tacky.
The background has clashing, obnoxious colors, the NES is blurry and JPG scarred, and the pictures of the guy with a
POWer Glove and Zapper are poorly cropped, low-resolution, dark, and need color correcting.
My ad
Vice? Start over with a new idea.
Sorry!
also, while looking at the word Revolution on the front of the NES, I was reminded that the working name for Nintendo's new console is just that 'The Revolution' wouldn't it be awesome if that were it? an updated NES?
The photo is good for a laugh. I kind of like it.
We didn't have such commercials, so it's new to me.
But maybe you should do it again with a little bit more picture quality. As it was stated before the photo has scars from JPEG compression, it's too dark and blurry in some fields.
Yes it is. I thougt I'd put a nostalgic twist on it. Aint I cute?

The Blurriness is my server's fault. (I use Photobucket.)
I tried my best with the cropping. the cropping got very confusing when it came to distinguishing a brown leather couch with my skin.

unlimited space, unlimited bandwidth, no image conversion.
use PNGs, they're plenty nice.
Cropping can be hard. The only way I've found to do it well, is to do it pixel by pixel around the edges, remembering that anything light will show up as a highlight around you-- you're better to lose the pixel than to have it white. I just cropped the Taz avatar today from a white background(made it transparent), and I had to go back and forth a few times to get all the white pixels near the edges. I think I got most of them, but probably still not perfect...

I should likely give my avatar a going over. I just need a good app that can do transparency.
The avatar looks good as it is now.

Oh, I know what the background is. I LOVE Dance Dance, but the colors do not work well. Especially with the stuff in the foreground. Try to avoid such brash tiled backgrounds. It should be more subtle, not overwhelming the rest of the image.
Why is spongebob on it? Dont get me wrong, I love spongebob but he seems out of place.
Well, I just learned the difference between resizing and resampling. I now find it easier to crop things that are small by first resizing, cropping, then resize it back down. Of course, I've only done this with 8-bit graphics, not anything real detailed yet.

Why not just use your graphics editor to zoom in real close?

Yeah, I don't have to go through all of what I do, except I usually end up resizing it anyway to fit what I need. I probably just worded that kind of funny. Zoom works just the same, good point!
Oh! Thats a real scan of the front of one of my NES's. Its the one Covered in Stickers.
Because of the blurring, you didn't get why he was there.
The "
POWer" Button said "Chaos", and Reset said "fun"
I also recommend to use a zoom function.
So you don't have to resize twice.

Oh. Well that makes perfect sense.
Now I can finally get some sleep at night knowing why Spongebob was there.
??????????
(Perhaps I'm not the biggest Spongebob fan but HUH?)
I don't exactly know what I should think of Spongebob...
I thought from the beginning that this was his own NES in the photo.
