Ninja GaiDen's influence

In Ninja Gaiden

Ninja Gaiden has been a huge influence on video games as we know them today. As games progressed, and gamers screamed for more, it was only fitting that theatrical type intermissions were added to games. Taking the storytelling style elements a step further than games such as Golgo-13: Top Secret Episode, and adding something called 'cinema screens.' Games are now done in full CG mode, with the story taking precedence over most other things. I thank Tecmo for this, and the games made by other companies that followed on the NES (i.e. The Mafat Conspiracy, Vice: Project Doom). May the stories only get better!

I agree that a good story is a great thing, but we can't let the story, or graphics or any other factor get in the way of playability. That seems to be the trend with a lot of games these days. make it pretty, then make it play. which I strongly disagree with.

Yes, I agree with that. I think I kind of left something out when I typed that up.

I definately prefer playability over the story. I do however, love a great video game story, and seeing how they portray it. Most of the time with stories out now, it seems as if they kind of just stand there and talk. It's not until near the end of the game that they start doing more with the story. That's what I love about NG! Character's interacting with each other, and things happening. Lots of POWer to it!

The games are defenatly cool, great to play, cool story parts,i love the graphix of the parts in between and when playing.
Sometimes it's abit to easy if you ask me,but i still play 'em quite often.

I'll agree with you on part one and two, but the third NG is friggin' tough! The last time I played that (NesterDC) I couldn't get through the Ancient Ship of Doom! Really tough game...

True, i beat 1,2, 3 i'm still working on, too much games to play, alot unfinished games.

NG II's got NOTHING on the first one in terms of difficulty. I blasted through II in a couple hours. The first one took a lot more memorization and trial and error.

Yeah, part II is definately the easy one of the series. Really good game, but still easy. One of my favorite things about is the 'Ghost Ninjas' you can have. That was a neat concept. Overall, the difficulty goes from III, to I, to II.

the ghost ninjas were cool, but I could never really make use of them....
by the time I got them into position the enemy moves and they're useless

Ah... they were ideal for boss fights. Against Funky Dynamite, you jump off a platform and hit him. When he drops, your ninjas are in place to hit him when he goes back up. Then he goes back down. Just repeat. That's the most effective use of them... bosses. They're all in one room screens, so there are three of you, and one of them (and they're usually big! Easy targets).
