Halo 2 argument that originated on the GUN thread
.
Of course I can't really trust too many "sources" (afterall, 'Halo 2' was the top pick last year).
You seem to like the underdogs, and don't like the newer consoles too much hey?
I thought Halo 2 was a good game, worthy of its title, but it did not live up to the huge hype it had, but with the advertising games have these days, what one does?
GUN is a decent game as well. As for the "LIVE" part you did not look into, Live is just the name of the network XboX uses to play online.
I take it you have never owned an XboX... thats why you dislike Halo 2?
Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed GUN, it was finally a good western for the new consoles, although the XboX360 version was identical to the XboX one, except it cost 10$ more, kind of stupid!
I own an Xbox, and i Dislike Halo 2, i say screw 2 get the first.
ZEN owns an Xbox, he just has taste.
I own an Xbox, and Halo 2 Limited Edition, and I have taste too. the game is nothing but mediocre. just another Star Trek FPS.
You mean Halo 1.5?
You mean Halo 1.5?
you mean the halo after the first one still sucks.
It's the . It just has slick graphics and new gimmicks
Yeah, I said it; dual wielding is a . So was the sword, and the playable banshees, and the ability to play as an elite, and the...
You seem to be quick to judge someone based on one sentence. I like "good games" whether they're underdogs or not.
I also like "newer consoles".
You think it's "worthy of its title" yet "it did not live up to the huge hype it had"... *confusion sets in*
You can't do much better than "Game of the Year", but if it did not "live up its hype" than how is it "worthy of its title"?
O RLY? I'll be dammed....
And it has HD-TV support.
And it's on the XBOX 360.
In conclusion I stand by my word-
10 hours of 'Gun' > 10 hours of 'Halo 2'

Relax, I'm not trying to attack you, don't be so defensive! I took your post just as I have your previous ones, I guess you just come off like you're angry at everything when you post, thats how I read you, thats all.

Because no game lives up to the hype that companys lay on it these days.
And yes, for the entire year of games, I belive I enjoyed it the most, and it seems a whole whack of others did as well.
O RLY? I'll be dammed....
The way you spoke about it, was like you didn't know what it was in your review.
And it has HD-TV support.
And it's on the XBOX 360.
720p, where you can play the original GUN on the 360 with 480 can't you?
Seems you guys hate halo 2 becasue its the same game? I thought sequels were just the same game built up with extra's, I guess I'm the only one who liked the storyline.
There ARE way better games, but I did like the Halo, and Halo 2 games, but its not like they can out live every other game out there, it just caught me and I had to play it start to finish, never got bored, except in the first one, levels were loooooonnngggg.
And it has HD-TV support.

Original GUN? there's only been one... I believe the XBox version runs 480p, the 360 version obviously does 720p.
Personally, if I had a 360, and a nice HD set, I'd shell out the extra $10 for 720p, since that means the end of jaggies.
EDIT: I misread someone's post. Ignore this.

Yeah I ment GUN on the original XboX, sorry for the confusion.
See, Halo 2 gets its support upped to 720p when tossed in the 360.
I wonder if that happens if you toss GUN for XboX into the 360 as well?

I wouldn't count on that happening, it's only an option with Halo 2 because that's the most popular game on the console (despite it's obvious lack of popularity here) and there was a lot of work that went into running Halo 2 at 720p, to my knowledge, all of the textures were re-worked at a higher res. The models could just be scaled, which would work fine.
Also, if they did that with the Xbox version there'd be no reason to buy the 360 version for $10 more.
Anyone with a 360 and GUN for the original XboX feel like taking a test drive?
I doubt it will work, but it would be interesting..
I would have replied the same regardless.
Good. However I took your post as a somewhat n00bish attempt to justify 'Halo 2's status. Making a comment like "" is a rather weak attempt at defending your own point IMO. So for that, you get the "harsh response".
K?
Most of the "hype" comes from the wishful thinking of magazines and game reviewers. Advertisers and publishers want the "hype" though. It's good for their business.
'Halo 2' was a critic-proof game anyway. I would have been fine with it getting a score of 7/10 and it still would have sold well. I guess those reviewers didn't want to alienate themselves from the masses so they gave in to "the hype" (I say this because I refuse to accept that 'Halo 2' is a "masterpiece" or "game of the year" or whatever).
As for "living up to the hype", I believe '
Ninja Gaiden', 'Half-Life 2' and 'Resident Evil 4' stood their ground.
Yes I figured that... but it gave me the oppurtunity to make an elitist, smart-assed comment.
See there? I own up to some things. I also like to just throw words around.
Never played the first 'Halo' and I don't need to in order to judge 'Halo 2'. I based my opinion about the game simply from playing it. I've experienced other first-person shooters on a console before. Halo 2 just didn't do anything to hold my interest or make me go "wow!".
I guess so.

'GUN' will most likely run at only 480p and still end up being the better game.
For the record, I don't really 'Halo 2'. Afterall, it's way better than 'Master Chu and the Drunkard Hu'). I think of it as the video game equivalent of "pop music" or something.
I would explain further, but this is the '' topic (and that game is great)..

You come off like a jerk, but you know that already. I wasn't really defending it, just trying to understand your point of view by asking that XboX question, how do I know you own an XboX?

I don't really care for reviews, I tend to play the game on my own and decide, alot of well rated games really were crap for me, as I stated though, Halo 2 was just a decent game, not the be all end all of XboX games, just fun.
Yes I figured that... but it gave me the oppurtunity to make an elitist, smart-assed comment.

Don't exhaust your vocabulary on me, by all means..

Fair enough, the new burnout games do the same thing for me, they were alright for the first few crashes.... then it wore off, total rental.

I suppose, I guess I'm just a guy who plays games only for "fun" not that GUN is in anyway not fun, I'd probably play it more then Halo 2.
Nobody should be calling anyone a jerk (or insinuating that they are sounding like one). It all depends on how you read things. Now if ZEN was consistantly writing like this, I would have to say he probably meant it to sound like a jerk, but I personally read it as it was all in "jest".
But ZEN is the only one who can speak for ZEN; so maybe I'm dead wrong.
You come off like a jerk, but you know that already. I wasn't really defending it, just trying to understand your point of view by asking that XboX question, how do I know you own an XboX?
How do you know he own an Xbox? You were trying to wittily (wittilly? sp?) combat his position by using a "snappy" comeback... Trust me, been there, done that, it don't work.
And for god's sake, don't call him a jerk. Every angry retort makes only him stronger... he'll destroy us all, dammit!
Behold:
As for "living up to the hype", I believe '

Come on! That absolutely smashed your second front. Acknowledge it before changing the guns... That's the key to polite debate. (In my humble opinion, as I'm by no means the expert.)
Don't exhaust your vocabulary on me, by all means..
Methinks thou hast seen nothing yet, good sir.

A nice, polite concession. Howeve, to maximize it's effect, you need to kick him while he's down. Don't be afraid to play dirty, as long as you don't lose your composure. That way, no one can call you on it.
I didn't call him a jerk, I mearly said he comes off as one, besides, he's the one that started the name calling with that fanboy comment.
As for his XboX, are you serious? I can't be witty when asking that, because its truth, how the hell should I know if he has an XboX or not?
I don't have a problem with ZEN really, it just seems like he's either trying to prove somthing to me, or just doesn't like me, and thats fine, this isn't a debate either, its about video games, I think everyone here has far more things to get annoyed at then video games.
The only reason this is even going is because I was stupid enough to ask someone why they disliked Halo 2, and then the crusade began, I'm not trying to change his mind, I was just freaking curious.
Listen, in the history of my posting here, I've only been serious twice.
Were you being serious then?
ZEN was born to be badass!---->
Were you being serious then?
no, I was being serious about only being serious twice, which was itself the second time.
Perhaps it was a question best left unasked. Alas... it is too late... The damage has been done now. I have no more to retort about the XBOX comment.
That would be a good way to decide.
Agreed.
When/where? I used the word "n00bish" in a sentence. Is that what rattled your cage?
Bingo! We'll stop it there.
I didn't 100% fully comprehend this statement. Who/what was "changing the guns".
...Or should it be "changing the "?
(NOTE: This may be difficult because it requires you to be "serious".)
Message end.

I view debates as a battle. You made a damn good point, and it undermined his 'hype' position, after which point the subject was changed. "changing the guns" referred to this, while using the word 'gun'.
It seemed like a good idea at the time...
You and your good idea's.
