I am not messing with you guys; someone is still making cool things for the NES console!

It appears that there is still some minor interest in our old system.

Buy them. I've got one of the NES ones and they rock. I want to buy an NES and SNES set.

that's really cool! are they actually good? usually wireless junk has battery issues, and interference, and the added weight... but they certainly look awesome.

I would buy one but I am worried about the D-pad being too similar to the NES Maxx 'd-pad', which I loathe.
If anyone who has used one if they could tell what they think about things like battery life and dpad I would appreciate. Or if anybody knows of an online review.. I am very interested with this.

The D-pad is like the one from the NES Max. It's alot better too. The controllers are great. They are 4 player compatible. From what I've heard from everyone the d-pad is sensitive and takes a little getting used to. The buttons also have a diffrent feel than standard buttons. They at first feel loose but they're really made so they can be rapidly pressed. Also has a rapid fire feature built in. they rock.

Those wireless controller sure looks nice.
And I wouldn't mind about the weight. I tried some other wireless controllers and in fact the batteries inside often give you a good feeling.

They take AAA batteries so they aren't heavy at all.

It's great to still see some strong fans out there still dedicated. They are probably prototypes. Is it an official NES site because I think they could get sued

there is no possible way they'll be sued for producing accessories for a console that's been officially dead for more than 10 years... even if it were an active console... do you think all of the CRAP being produced for the PS2 and Xbox is licensed? it is in no way illegal to produce something that connects to a console owned by a consumer... although don't be surprised if that changes soon...

It seems that as long as you don't make a pad that could be mistaken for the original you're alright. Nintendo had a patent on their N64 controller that mean't that other companies couldn't copy their 3 pronged design. This mean't that, apart from a couple of companies that got their products out before the patent, all the third party controllers looked wierd and most were hard to play with.

So legally it seems you can make any sort of accessory you want as long as you don't break any design patents.

Unlicensed software isn't illegal, the only thing that was illegal about it were the ways a lot of people tried to get around the lockout chip. although many of those ways were deemed legal by courts. it is in no way illegal to produce software for a console without the consent of the manufacturer. getting it to run on that console is where you run into problems.

Well I found this place called the Ressurection project, ppl were making Chrono Trigger bu they updated the graphics and stuff, they were planing on releasing it for one of the systems as a demo for payment of course. They were going to finish it but Square gave them a Ceise and Disist. Meaning if they did not stop, they would get sued.

It's pretty similar and Chrono Trigger came out back in 95'

there's a difference between making something FOR something that is copyrighted, and reproducing something that is copyrighted... the Chrono Trigger story is a completely different situation.

It's not really similar. What you just described there is copyright infringement. For whatever reason it seems that accessories aren't protected in the same way unless a specific design feature has been patented.



It's interesting as to why a company like Nintendo couldn't actualy copyright the Gamecube pad itself. It's probably down to Monopoly laws. Selling a product (a Gamecube) that'll only work if you buy another product made by the same company ( a gamepad) would be seen as unfairly blocking out competition.

I don't know much about the NFL but EA seem to have a pact with the devil so they can pretty much do what they like.

if you mean EA blocked everyone from making NFL games, then no, EA signed an agreement, they are exclusively licensed to make NFL games. Although that doesn't mean that they're the only ones that can make football games, as there are MANY different leagues.

But as for blocking out competition... when it comes to sports games, does it really matter? the same goons are going to buy the games this year as last year, because one pixel on Doug Flutie (?)'s jersey is different! but no, they aren't unfairly blocking out competition, they likely paid quite a large sum of money for those exclusive rights.

I don't need the original players to have fun with a sports game. I loved International Superstar Soccer on the SNES. No names were real, they were quite funny actually.
The gameplay was great. I don't need real faces and names. I can watch those on TV.
