Who here has The Twin Snakes?
...
Actually, I find this game MUCH more difficult than the original one on PSOne. For some reason, I can't even get by the very first part without getting caught!
I'm planning on making my way through it sometime, but right now I have other priorities gaming wise. I have a couple of questions, though...
Did the cinemas change at all? (i.e. camera angles, dialogue...) Have the bosses been jacked up in difficulty? Is Vulcan Raven still an incredibly fun fight? Just a few things I've wondered about.
Well, I have the game. I also find it very easy. I have beat it on Very Easy 1 time, Easy 1 time, Normal 2 times, Hard 3 times, and Extreme 2 times. Also, I have the old one for PS1, and I loved it, but I ahven't beaten it...in like 3 years. Off the top of my head, I think the cut seens are the same....not completely sure though. The bosses might have been harder. But thats just off the top of my head.

Tehy changed the cut scenes completely (they made snake like a freakin ninja) Some people have problems with this, but i think they are cool looking. The voice actors for Mei-Ling and Natasha no longer have their accents.
This is the one game that is making me seriously consider buying another gamecube. Probobly an orange one.
I just got done playing the game with the Meryl ending where you get the Bandanna (Bandanna = unlimited ammo). Now Im playing through again so its the Otacon ending to get the Stealth Camo. But I have to say, this game is really fun. It also gives me my
Metal Gear fix untill I can get some extra cash to buy
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for Xbox.
I played through the first time on "easy" and this time I put it on "hard". I love the way the bad guys walk around with bullet proof vests, helmets and shelds. Playing like this forces you to be stealthy, because one slip up and you got a bullet proof army to answer to.
I've played through it and got the stealth suit. I played on normal and thought it was easy, but I did complete the PS1 version about 6 times.
After reading so many people saying that it's easy to them, I started thinking about it... do you guys play with the radar on? I've always played with it off personally, because it throws you more into the game. Maybe that's why I find it so difficult on this version, but I'm not sure.
yah i'm with you this version is alot harder when you turn the radar off because in the old game you didn't have to worry about the ground makeing so much nosie that they can hear you from downstairs but the hardest part is when their clearing a room because that will get you caught fast......
i hate what they did to this game.
the Cut scenes are so stupid in one Snake jumps off from a Rocket how stupid is that.

yah it took alot of the realism away with the new cut scenes

I thought that was stupid too.
As for playing with the radar, I did have it on the first time (I was a bit rusty) and after that, I had it off.
Alright, yesterday I fired this game up, and set the radar on, and selected a Normal game. I went through the entire thing watching cinema screens and all.
The game is pretty good, but there are some things I didn't like. I wish they would've kept the same voicings for Gray Fox as they had on the original. When he said classic MGS stuff like, "Hurt Me More!" in that battle, he didn't sound right. There was no urgency. That battle used to be one of my favorite parts on that game, and they somehow turned that into one of the most boring parts on the game.
The enemy AI is extremely good. I found myself having to hide constantly. They seem to hear everything possible. It finally got to the point where I was just shooting guys in the head instead of trying to enter places with stealth (not the suit ).
The bosses on this game, well, they're WAY too easy. The original has tough boss battles. Liquid Snake was NOTHING compared to what he was on the PS version. Same with the Hind, Vulcan Raven... all of them. The bosses were dumbed down it seems. I wish they had been a bitter tougher, because that's one of the things I like about the MGS series... the tough bosses.
I liked the cinema screens more than the original. They started incorporating the way that MGS has a lot of the more fictional things that couldn't really happen in real life, but really makes it cool. What I mean by that is the outlandish stuff that everyone pulls off. It makes it more entertaining. Very nicely done cinemas.
Overall, it's a pretty good game. Some of the aspects of it are stronger than the original, but some are also weaker. I'd say it was a job well done by Silicon Knights
I always wondered if i should buy this. Ive beaten the original mgs dozens of times but me and a buddy of mine rented the game one time and got to ocelot and pretty much stopped. IMO i think they kind of toned down the voice acting quite a bit but the did improve on the cinema scenes. And what happend to the cool intense boss music from the PS version? I hate the new boss music ugh. Im wondering if i should even buy this one.
The voice overs to the new
Metal Gear is realy bad.......... and the took out alot of the conversations that you can hear in the orginal
Metal Gear.... so i think they took a crap load of the storyline out.....
