Hi 8-bit_or_no_bit welcome to the forum.
To answer your question, i think the first is the best, remember playing it forever and took me like 6 months to beat.
I like the
Megaman series but after a few the rest isn't that interesting as part 1.

I'll admit I haven't played them too much, but aren't all the
Megaman's pretty much the same?

Yeah that was what i ment, first was the best cause i didn't know nothing about it and i totally liked it.
I've played just about every
Megaman game out there. (except the battle network series).
i've beaten all of them on the nes. i'd have to say the best one has to be either 2 or 4. but thats just my opinion.
I’ll have to go with
Megaman 3. That is the one with Metal Man, right? It has been sometime since I last messed with those games. I still need to get
Megaman 4.
Megaman series, huh? Hands down the best is the first sequel,
Megaman 2!!! The characters are well drawn, regular enemies are creative, and the final battle kicks rear! NO CONTEST!!!
Yeah, without a doubt MM2!!!
They really need to put a new one out. Not just for Nintendo, but for all the modern systems...
modern games all suck though, everything is a half-assed effort, everything runs on the same engine, and the art is just slightly changed from squel to sequel. I've spent my share of money on modern games, but I've just recently seen the light.
I agree about the modern games. At one time I owned an XBox, Gamecube, PS2, and a DreamCast. I bought each system just for one game in general for each system. The games now seem to follow a certain genre once it takes off ( i.e. Grand Theft Auto now, Resident Evil type before that, and Doom-ish before that, which seems to be making a comeback in style). The innovation on the newer games seem to be few and far betweeen nowadays. That is also why I have found myself back to my roots.

exactly, I still have a DreamCast (which isn't a bad console by any means, but I bought it primarily due to the hardware flaw that allows it to play backups unmodified), and a GameCube (which I bought for the upcoming
Zelda title) I DID own a PS2, but since sony is such a money hungry monster, they cheaped out on it, and made it complete garbage, so it's gone. I was considering an Xbox for a while, and still have to some extent, for Burnout 3 which looks and plays quite nice.
But for now I'm focusing fully on my NES collection, as it was the console that got me into gaming, and really, the console responsible for giving video games the kick they needed back in the 80s.
'
Megaman 2'! It's perhaps the best action-platform game on the NES.
The boss robots are very well rendered and each have a very unique attack style. The level designs are superb, testing virtually every element of platforming challenge know to the video game world.
There may not have been any slide manuever or Rush (no big loss), however it's quite clear the designers had trouble finding fresh new content for the sequels (which just did more of the same thing but sadly not as well).
I totally agree with that. I think the third one was pretty good, but they just had a hard time "redefining" the glory that was
Megaman 2. Even the music was best on the second one. It seems as though part two's USUALLY are better (not always, though).
I should have my
Megaman 2 cart in 3-5 days, so I'll have to check on these comments, I've always liked
Megaman in general, but haven't spent enough times with the
NES Games of the series.
I only know MM3 and 4... And I like 3 more.
Perhaps I should try the others, too. Once I can find more time...
In Regards to
Megaman, i would have to go with 2 and 4. The best music.levels/bosses are all in this game
Clearly, CLEARLY, the best would be 3. I mean, c'mon, Gemini Man? Needle Man? Snake Man? Top Man? Proto Man? BADASS MAN!
I Guess that 2 would come in a close 2nd.

Clearly, its 2! You got the classics: Flashman, Crashman, Airman, Heatman, Metalman.
And it by far, has the best nintendo songs collectively in one game.
Thus far I only own MM2, but it rocks more than I could have imagined it would. the music is great, and I love it even more after finding the GOOD remixes of it. None of that OC Remix junk.
Same here i have to get some too, but they're mega common so you can always get 'em.
I only have one MM complete and that's part 2.
MM 2&3 are my favs but I enjoyed them all. Slowdowns and all.
oh man thats easily
Megaman 2 for me i beat all the nes ones and loved them all except 6 ...felt rushed to me but anyways yeah 2 was my fav. Had the best bosses, levels, music
I have only played, I think 6 and it was pretty fun, the X ones for SNEs are pretty hard though but still fun.
Yet another MM poll (w/o of course the poll). Anyways this is comming from a dude who owns all
Megamans from 1-6, X, and the GBA one
Megaman and bass? : I think MM2 is the best. I think it paved the way for all of the other games. It's the first game to have 8 robot masters, the chamber where you fight them again, 3 special items, the best music by far out of all of the games. MM2 was so kick ass they brought the robot masters back in MM3 and pretty much every other weapon in the game series is a rip-off of the weapons used in MM2.
I think 2-3-4 because they're all so awesome the 4th because of skull man, The 3rd because of Protoman, the 2nd because of music better sprites (jus....Kidding)yeah The just awesomeness of all!
I have to say the best
Megaman is #2. The level desgn was good, along with the bosses. Also, the music was the best for any
Megaman game!
I recently started playing
Megaman 1 and to be honest i didn't like it at all. The graphics is poor and gameplay is not smooth.
Anyway, it is quite an old game so one shouldn't expect much of it.
Anyway, it seems that
Megaman 2 is the best, so i will give that a try.
I love the original, its challenging if you don't use weaknesses, and I like it how its not the smoothest ever.its all around fun until u r stuck.
Megaman 6 is my favorite. I really enjoyed this game but I wouldn't say that it is the best because I haven't played 2, 3, 4.
Star-Tropics, you have to play MM2. It is truly a great game.
I would like to play it, but I haven't found any places that sell this game.
Man, I want you to play the game so much, I'll buy it, and you can buy it off me. (if you really want that, PM me)
Well, if playing is the issue here, you could download an Emulator and the
NES ROM.
I already downloaded the
NES ROM and I will be playing MM2 tonight .
Do you have a controller
Hooker up to your computer to play it (MM2)? It might be better than just playing on the key board. (use less your use to it)
Unfortunately, I don't have a controller.
Man, I'll buy you one.... just joking. Doesn't effect the gameplay much, but I just prefer it one a controller.

I can't even begin to describe how much I disagree with you. Don't love the tree and dis the seed. I like 1,2 and 3 all fairly equally.

Well, I started playing
Megaman 2. And I have to say it is much more improved than version 1. Better Graphics and much smoother control.
Actually, my obervations and experience tells me, the Graphics on the NES started to improve after 1990. It seems that in the past, the developers just didn't bother much because they knew their product would sell well. But with intense competition, they had to improve on everything; Graphics, Control, Music...

I'm not going to deny that many aspects of the
Megaman series improved after the first. I can't overlook, however, the fact that this game introduced
Megaman to the world. I actually just finished the first
Megaman a couple of hours ago for the first time in years. I still love it just as much as I did back then.
I take my word back about
Megaman 1 being a louzy game. After playing MM2, i gave MM1 a try again and I seem to like it now. I am playing
Megaman for the first time and seems that i have commenced an entertaining journey.
That's awesome Hunter! I've had to eat my words that I've posted before as well (CV: Bloodlines on the Genesis). It's nice to see people who actually have some integrity and hold up to things that they said before... that's hard to find on the internet alot
I used to actually not like MM1 all that much. I can't remember why, but I didn't like it. I'm glad I do now, though
That's great hunter! I agree with Roth, it's great when people don't let stubborn pride get in the way of what they really think. I've had to eat my words plenty of times aswell.

For me, it was due to the bad graphics on Cutman's level. But the other levels have cool graphics and they are as good as those of MM2.
The coolest thing I like about the game is, after defeating a boss, you get their weapons.
Megaman 2 is easily the best game (not to take anything away from the original, which is the most challening).
Megaman 2 has the adjustable difficulty, the best soundtrack, the coolest weapon (The Metal Blade), best level design, best boss battles, nd it was overall the biggest upgrade in terms of additional content. I love all of the original 6, easily my favorite
Megaman era, but I gotta fgive 2 the nod.
Megaman 1 all the way...was always the best.
For most diffucult I would have to say
Megaman 5...I always had proplems with this one...
Well, I did 1-6 and then figured that was as far as my skills would ever take me, so I would have to say
Megaman 2 was the best, because the specialized attacks were just so perfectly matched to the bosses. Also the robot names were kinda funny. (heh... bubbleman)
That's exactly what I wanted to say but, y'know, the words wouldn't come to me.
It's a tie between
Megaman 2 and 3, but all of the games are damn good (6 could have been a bit better though)
And now you have switched back
Megaman is awesome so its hard to pick the best one. I think it is between MM2 and MM6. I just recently started playing the X series and I dont think that they are that much better.
Yeah.... great music in that one... also the names in that game were a little more creative, unlike 6 where they had to name Wiley's disguise "X". Rofl.
Wait... isn't there a poll on this same thing going on like, one thread up?
