need help with brazil nes andfamicom clones

In Hardware

i just got 2 clone type brazil systems. the nes clone is called hi-top and the famicom is called game city. both POWer on and load games but i have no controllers for them. the controller ports are the same as sega genesis and atari 2600. i have been trying to wire an nes controller to them but no luck. does anybody have a controller that will work for this they will sell? or does anybody know the pinouts for these systems? any help would be great!! i searched the net for pinouts but the site i found was wrong since it said vcc +5 v was pin 7 and it said data out was pin 7 too so obviously wrong! the brazil famicom clone system i have has an extra controller port that is 15 pins. i even tryed wiring the nes controller to that using the info i found on the net but still no luck getting it to work. anybody have any thoughts?? help!

I won't be of help, because I don't no anything about stuff like that, but I'd like to know if you've tried to use a Genesis controller? I mean if the ports are the same..

I have a famiclone the "FC Game Console" I think. It's very popular on ebay often seen as 'top loading nes'. It, too, takes a standard DB9 (i think it's DB9) plug, which is what a genesis uses. It came with two controllers, but I wanted my NES controller. I was able to take a Sega controller extension cord and connect it to a standard NES controller.

I should have the pinouts somewhere on my computer still, hopefully I can find them.

However, it is not a brazil system, but maybe the pinouts are different from the ones you've found so far..

I brought up when doing mine, however, I didn't provide much in the way of details..

yes i tryed a genesis controller and an atari 2600 controller. does anybody know the CORRECT pinouts for the nes controller? here is what i got most likely wrong..... pin 2 - ground pin 3 - P/S pin 5 - clock pin 7 - data out pin 7 - vcc+5v. anybody know what colors each wire for each thing is? here is what i have most likely wrong also.....pin 7 - red pin 5 - yellow pin 3 - orange pin 2 -white pin 1 -brown

That page has the correct pinouts for the NES--which appears to be numbered just like you have indicated.

the pinouts on that site are a lie!! i just got the game city working off an nes controller.....finally. i cut the plug off of an nes controller and i hard wired(soldered) the wires to the controller circuit board on the game city. here are the CORRECT pinouts and color codes in case anybody ever wants to Hook up an nes controller to a famicom clone or whatever projects one might have....

nes controller with nes plug end
pin 1 - ground (brown wire)
pin 2 - clock (red wire)
pin 3 - P/S (orange wire)
pin 4 - data out (yellow wire)
pin 7 - +5 volts (white wire)

DB9 plug end pinouts
pin 2 - data out
pin 3 - P/S
pin 4 - clock
pin 6 - +5 volts
pin 8 - ground

15 pin famicom plug end pinouts
pin 1 - ground
pin 8 - data out
pin 9 - clock
pin 12 - P/S
pin 15 - +5 volts

i got a db9 plug end and wired it to the nes controller. the wiring is different for each of the systems (game city and hi-top). i had it wired for the game city and then i figured it would work on the hi-top too but the pinouts where different. heres the pinouts for each -

db9 plug to nes controller (hi-top system)
1 - brown wire (ground)
2 - red wire (clock)
3 - orange wire (P/S)
4 - yellow wire (data out)
5 - none
6 - white wire (+5v)
7 - none
8 - none
9 - none

db9 to nes controller (game city system)
1 - none
2 - yellow wire (data out)
3 - orange wire (P/S)
4 - red (clock)
5 - none
6 - white wire (+5v)
7 - none
8 - brown wire (ground)
9 - none

You should explain the way you numbered the pins for anyone who stumbles into this information later.

And while the colors are useful there is no garauntee that they're accurate for even the same model, especially if you're talking about famiclones. Pinout numbering and diagrams are the safest for passing information on.

yea your right theres alot of clones!! what i meant to say is if this helps anybody if they ever get a game city or hi-top system with no controllers or want to use an nes controller on one.

the hi-top system i have does not have start and select buttons on the system. i seen a pic of one that had start and select on the system. so the wiring on that one would be different.

the pinouts are numbered for a db9 plug. numbers are on the db9 plug also. which is a row of 5 pins on top and four on bottom row. numbered from left to right. pins 1 - 5 on top row then pins 6 - 9 on bottom. 6th being the pin first from left and pin 9 farthest to the right.

heres a link i found to the pic of the hi top with start and select on it. scroll down to hitopgame.jpg and click to see or click brazil.html to read about brazil clones and see a list of them and other cool stuff!!

mine only has 2 switches, POWer and reset. and my switches are yellow.
