NES Advantage

I'm thinking about buying one, preferably complete. I've heard it's great to use, at least for some games.

I've wanted one for a while, but is it as good as everyone say? Doesn't really matter since I'll get it anyway, just for the sake of owning it. I would however like to get some adVice from the ones who owns/has owned one of these.

I own one, it needs to been cleaned because the buttons stick, but it was pretty fun to use for Super Mario games. Never really tried it on anything else. It just adds to the game because its a different way to control it. I say its worth picking up.

Edit:By the way, how would you go about opening a NES Advantage??? I took out the 3 screws at the bottom, but would come apart.

I'd say get it also. The turbo buttons, in particular, can be very useful. It is kind of heavy (there's a steel plate for the base), so you may have to hold it on your lap or something, but it's a good addition to the NES.

Its pretty good. Too bad it wasn't wireless.

It's alright for a bit of fun but I hardly ever use mine to be honest.

I've got a complete and a loose advantage, they're good to put a new spin on games you're tired to death with. Or games like 1942 or Sky Shark.

They are really awesome for the turbo. Of course, there's also the FourScore for that, as well.
No problem, Malon_Forever, and I forgot, you'll have to pull off the grey turbo buttons off, too, I believe. They should just come right off the pot switch control with a pair of pliers.

The NES Advantage is my baby. I remember getting one for Christmas when they first came out. I remember it being awkward compared to the d-pad controller. However, since it was a gift, I felt like I should use it and try to get the most out of it. I eventually became a pro with it. My buddy, to this day, almost always refuses to play me in a game if I use it. He thinks I use to cheat at Tecmo Super Bowl with it, by using turbo to break tackles. I didn't because you could hear me smashing those huge buttons.

Yeah, I've heard a bunch of good things said about it.

I'm not sure, but around the "A" and the "B" button, there's this black colour around it. Well, I've seen one with a silver colour instead of black. Could this be some limited edition NES Advantage or something?

Underneath where those screws are, there are some rubber pads for grip on a table and such. Pry those off with a flat-head screwdriver or something, and there are more screws underneath those.
Oh, yeah, and the ball part of the joystick just unscrews if you turn it counter clockwise.

Thanks for the tip. I had no idea you could pries off those rubber pads and reveal hidden screws. I wondered how you were supposed to take it apart. Mine is so dirty I really need to give it a clean.

Good deal on the Advantage, NES-RULE!, I have an Advantage and parts of another one, and passed up one in a pawn shop a few years back and regretted it ever since.

I took mine apart and gave it a clean but it didn't solve my main problem, which is the buttons can be a bit unresponsive. I tried playing SMB 3 but don't think it is very well suited to that game. Better suited for shooters I thought so I tried out SectionZ and Parodius. It is better for those games because the turbo helps and the stick makes it feel more arcade, but I was happier when I switched back to a normal controller.

So I guess where I'm going with all this is that I don't really like the Advantage much.
