famicom adapters and nes lockout chip
just purchased a model kc-60 famicom to nes adapter. i also have a homemade 60-72 famicom adapter made from a stack up cartridge(lockout chip is on the circuit board). the problem is the kc 60 adapter does not have a lockout chip or any other lockout bypass de
Vice on the board. i tested the kc-60 and the homemade one on 2 different nes systems, one with the lockout chip modified and one that was stock and was a virgin. kc60 works fine on the modified nes but flashes on the one thats not modified due to no lockout chip or bypass de
Vice. the homemade one i made from stack up works fine with both nes systems. so to anyone that has or is thinking about buying a famicom adapter make sure that it has a lockout bypass de
Vice or else it wont work unless your lockout chip inside your nes is modified. or you make one out of stack up or another game cartridge that has the adapter in it. old
Gyromite,
Clu Clu Land etc.
i just took apart the kc-60 adapter and to my suprise there IS a lockout chip on the circuit board. i figured it out. i tryed it in my PAL nes and it works. it did not work in my unmodified nes because its a USA version. so if your in the market or own a famicom adapter make sure the lockout de
Vice is of your region OR your lockout chip inside your nes is modified to play all.
I know xactly what u meen. I have had same problem in the past. Then I read about lok out chips and discovered to my suprise there is a much larger nintendo (how should i word this o ya) vortex that can be reached by simply modifieing your nes. Since thin I have purchased several fami com adapters as well as pal format games and show them off to people. I love the reactions I get get like what the #@$^$. O well. Thanks for this forum hopefully it will help others reach out to the somewhat unknown of the unknown of nintendo. By the way check out probotechtor for anyone who ends up modifying there chip. PS excuse the spelling. hoked no fonix workded mee.
will PAL games play with the home-made adapters on a US console?
the homemade adapter i have is for playing famicom (japanese) cartridges on US nes. there is however, an adapter that allows play of PAL format
NES Games on a US nes. you plug a game of your region into a patch cord plug and then the other format game into the adapter and then into your nes. thats one way of doing it. the other way is to modify your nes lockout chip to play all regions and all unlicensed games. an easy way to tell if your lockout chip has ever been modified is to turn on your nes with no game in it,and if it DOES NOT flash on and off then it has been modified.
