Gameboy Micro, yeah its small.

In Handhelds

Just take a look at the size of the Gameboy Micro compared to a standard NES controller.

Bad pictures I know, they where taken with a Treo 650 phone.

Whoa, how is it for playing? ANd those pictures arent bad at all for a camera phone

Don't know how well it plays yet, I don't have any games for it. I bought it because it caught my eye.

Haha, how american.

Haha, im Canadian.

BOO-YA!

Yup. They don't call it the game boy micro for nothing. I wouldn't mind getting one someday, but I want to get some other consoles first.

I had a nice discussion with the guy in EB about the micro...

Micro: $129

SP: $89 - $99

DS: $169

Advantages to the Micro:

Size.

Disadvantages to the Micro:

TINY screen
cramped controls
inability to play classic GameBoy games
cost

Advantages to the SP:

Backlit screen
good sized screen
compatibility with any GB game ever made
cost

disadvantages to the SP:

cramped controls (in my opinion)

Advantages to the DS

Next gen handheld hardware
larger screen than SP
widely spaced and comfortable controls
Nicer screen than the SP
Stereo sound without headphones.

disadvantages to the DS:

Cost
larger than can be comfortably carried in a normal pocket

In the end, you really have to consider if the Micro is worth the $30 - $40 more than an SP, and if you're going to pay that, should you not just fork out the extra cash and get a DS, which is just now getting into the cycle of good games. While the GBA is slowing down considerably...

All that said, the Micro is cool, and if I had the spare cash, I'd probably pick one up.

I paid $110 for my Micro, thats not a bad price at all. Here, the SP's new are the same price as the Micro. Mind you, in the pawn shops they sell the SP's for $60. Plus, the SP's look like garbage compared to the Micro!

This whole comfort thing too, I have massive hands. The micro fits like a glove. Not cramped at all.

Why the hell can't it play oldschool gameboy games? Ill be sure NOT to get one. Does it atleast play GBC games!!?

Nope, GBA only...

I was reading some place else about GB/GBC emulation on the Micro. I also come accross a 2gb flash cart.

Sounds good to me!

Edit: NES-Luke, I seen in one of your pictures that you had a Commodore 1702. Just curious to know how much you paid for it.

I have two of them, I didn't pay a dime for either one. One is still at my parents place though.

Good stuff, I have two aswell. Like you, I paid nothing for them. Strange...

The two you have, is the color still crisp on them? I had a third one, but the green was all washed out.

The one I have with me is beautiful, the second has been stored for a while, so I can't really remember how it looked.

I want to build an adapter so I can use standard s-video cables on it.

To have a standard S-Video input on these would be great. They are the perfect size for sitting down and playing pretty much any console on. Gotta love the mono speaker on them too, nice and loud!

I want it! It's micro guys.

No, I actually do.

.....never mind

Why do you think a new GBA was made instead of a completely new system is my question though.

I guess it's as the DS only recently came out.

IMO i think the micro idea is a waste. Better off with just the SP.

Nintendo knows that over 28 million people own a GBA, and they are just milking the system out, and trying to make better ones so even more people buy them. Thats why I think they made it atleast...

it's just like the original Gameboy, first it came out in 1 color, then various colors were released, then a smaller version GB Pocket. sure they could of originally only released the Pocket, or the color ones. but would they have made as much money? nope.
