New pixel art WIP
I figure people that enjoy the NES can appreciate a little pixel art, and this is my latest pixel art project: An isometric view of my room.
I have 4 progress pics so far, and I'll just post them all here. As I make progress, I'll be adding to the thread with new animated gifs and closeups.
Layout and basic structures completed. Beginning to add detail to more complex furniture.
Detail finished on entertainment center, video game systems/games added, fully colored.
That's astonishing!
Really great work! I wish I could do such things myself.
Do you use some special software or everything by hand in a normal editor?
If I tried that... it would take 3 days and not look that good.
I'm doing it all in Photoshop CS, but it could be done in MS Paint. I'm just zoomed in really close, poking pixels in there with a one-pixel brush. Very time-consuming.
Here's my last update for the night:
Tweaked the entertainment center a bit, added a spread to/colored the bed, stretched the room's proportions a bit, added most of my junk on top of my computer desk.
Ehhh, couldn't sleep. Worked for another hour.
Colored computer desk, added bookshelf.
Man, your pixel art never ceases to amaze me! That's some pretty cool work!
I trust that by the end of it, there'll be a mess of wires under the desk?
Considering that it's still more amazing!
Wow...
I started to put walls in and realized the floor plan was "off". Walls weren't going to go in and look square, so I had to spend a ton of time fixing it without ruining the layout. It's subtle, but took forever to fix. I also began adding my posters. Instead of trying to draw my posters pixel-art style, I took pictures of all of them, shrunk them, skewed them, then color limited their palettes so they looked pixelly. So far I have my Misfits poster in.
Here's my posters for reference:
Put the other two posters in (Soul Calibur still needs some tweaking), realized I would have to stretch the floorplan AGAIN to put in my window, did that, put the window frame in, colored the filing cabinet.
Wow! Is that almost all of your room now? I noticed you got the filing cabinet done. Also, what is that? GameCube, DreamCast, NES, and XBox? If so... good likeness!
Thats truely fantastic well done...
Well, I'm pretty sure I'm done.
Finished the window, put curtains in, put crap on the bookshelf, stretched the room AGAIN to expand my bed a bit, which looked a little short, added a folded blanket on the bed, added an "RPG door" so you get the idea you can actually enter/exit the room, changed the wallpaper on my desktop, added the garbage can/paper. Here's the final "progress" animation, along with the final image:
Yes, the bed looks still better now. And I like the "RPG-door".
Could you do that for my room, too? Just kidding. There's way too much stuff in it to do such a thing properly... I'd have to leave out most of it.
Once again I can just say, great work. I wish I had such a talent.
Maybe I will try once, but I don't think I'd show you if I did... too embarrasing.
