Game Genie + Famicom

In Games

I know it's unlikely that the Japanese famicom had its own Game Genie, but now that we have emulators and converters and it is possible to apply game genie codes to these games are there any sources for codes to Japanese games?

I don't know, but after a little search I found pages with game genie codes for Japanese Famicom games, so, yes, you can cheat in (emulated) Famicom games, too.

I don't know whether there was a Game Genie or other cheat hardware for the Famicom.

I wonder also if they came out with the Game Genie's out side of North America. I guess if you did find a Famicom Cheat DeVice, buying it would be your best bet as it could be worth alot of cash.

Game Genie was also sold in Europe, but I've never heard of a Famicom one. Maybe I should research that.

Please do tell us the info you get.

I guess if there is a Game Genie for Famicom I bet you will try and find it when you go to Japan, amiright amiright?

But does anyone know the file size per Famicom game? Is it the same as Nes ones?

I know Nes and Famicom Games are mostly the same but I thought it regions games got add ons and some content that was maybe removed

The ROM size of Famicom and NES Games is about the same. Not much difference I guess.

And yes, of course I'd try to find cheating deVices for the Famicom if there are any. Just for the sake of the collection.

that didn't really have anything to do with file size. it was because of idiot parents and ignorant people wanting to "censor" things. a lot of religious symbols were taken out of Castlevania for fear of over-religious (we'll go with people ) had some storyline and sprites taken out because the story involved Hitler.

stuff like that happened in the UK too, the whole 'ninja' word being banned deal.

according to my research and knowledge, no such cheat deVice was made for the famicom. you can, however use a NES, a game genie , 60-72 pin adapter and the FC game of your choice ( chose this way because less adapters are being used). and it should work 100%. I just dont know if anyone has any codes that work for it. though I'm pretty sure for the old games, (1987 and under) the codes ion the big purple book still work.

Being it that FamiCom is short for "The Family Computer" Nintendo probably just didn't think cheating was much of a family value. That would be my guess anyway.

None of the cheating deVices ever were produced by the company that made the game machines.
So that can't be the reason I guess.

Cheating Ruins the Games fun, IMO.

Of course it does.
By cheating you can see the whole game, but you don't get the feeling of accomplishment after finishing it that way.

sometimes. i think it's fun to put in cheats in games like GTA to get unlimited ammo, special cars, all the weapons, etc.

but people that use cheats all the time to beat games are just lame. THAT takes all the fun out.

WHAT? Since when does cheating ruin the fun? I can't begin to explain how fun it was to cheat in the original Dark Forces.

Cheaters never win and Winners never quit
So Manuel any like finding info on a cheating deVice for Famicom yet?

Not even a clue yet... I guess there are none.

Maybe. There must have been some sort of cheating deVice for Famicom, lets not throw in the towel just yet.

Oh, yeah! One of my favorite cheats in GTA is the Tank. But, I don't use it to beat the entire game.
And isn't it true that with games with unlockables based on percentages won't register 100% if you use cheats to the very end? I seem to recall someone on another forum complaining about Vice City doing this.

Nah. It doesn't do this, but in GTA:San Andreas if you use about 800+ cheats, by the mission in which you have to save this guy (who's name I forgot... I think it was Madd Dogg, or something) from throwing himself out of his building to kill himself, the mission gets harder and he jumps off faster.
