Great games no one else has heard of
So we all know what the classics are. Big deal. List some games that succeed at being awesome despite their lack of popularity. I'll start it off...
Lee Trevino's Fighting
Golf
One sweet litte
Golf game. It lacks the heavy loading times of other
Golf games such as
Jack Nicklaus Golf or
Golf POWer, and it still manages to have a detailed course view and a simple control scheme. There's only two 18 hole courses, but this also has a 4 player mode, and after a single play through a course you'll be
Hooked. With each
Golfer having their own strengths and weaknesses, plus gambles galore for a chance at better scores, this is one tight little
Golf game.
Young Indiana Jones Chronicles
I know. It sounds crappy, but believe me, this is an awesome platformer. I consider it a merging of
Ninja Gaiden and
Karnov. You can use a whip, collect gold, and just do platformer stuff. As simple as this sounds, it's still quite a bit of fun. There's plenty of items to collect that change Indy's status and weapon, plus the run speed adds fluid and speed to the game. Something worth a look.
Digger T. Rock
i know people know this one but hey i think it belongs here
Taiko Drum Master
i need to think of more.
On other forums, I usually have to bring up the Russian Heart-Throb, but that's unnecessary here
Musashi no Bouken - I was introduced to this game by Nick M of NES Achievers. This game was only released in Japan on the Famicom, and it's actually a really cool RPG. It's set-up a bit like the first
Dragon Warrior, but there are friends that you can get that help in different ways. The enemies are kind of funny, but not too kiddy. The palette they use on the game is perfect. If you want to check this out, there are translated
NES ROMs out there. I got mine from ROM World... check it out if you get a chance.
The
Lone Ranger - Yup... this game is based off of the hero we all know. The game is made by Konami, and there are many different aspects of play. You can use the light gun on some parts, there are side view platforming levels, overhead perspectives (it appears that some Bayou Billy sprites were ported into this game), and overworld map perspectives. It's a cool game that even has a password feature.
Flying Warriors by culture brain. This is a unique game in wich your on a quest to basicly save the world from a being called demonyx and the tusk soldiers.
There is a unique one on one fighting engine when theres a dot on the enemy you attack and if theres one on yours you defend. Alot better than it may sound but there is also the meat in the game that lies within its platforming levels. You basicly walk and jump and get items and buy healing items and what not. Very awsome game i recommend you try this game out or dl the
NES ROM and see for yourself.
didnt somebody do this before?
EDIT: never mind it was just for shooters.

I like Lee Trevino's Fighting
Golf. I have it and it's soweet. Well it is... um okay I'll stop acting strange.
Shadow of the Ninja - this is possibly the best ninja game on the NES! it comes close with Legend of Kage
Shatterhand - made by the same company as
Shadow of the Ninja (Natsume) just produced by Jaleco. this is one of the best platformers on the NES. beats the pants off
Megaman, yeah I said it....
S.C.A.T. - yeah, weird name, but another great game made by Natsume!! this company rocked. too bad they only made 3 games . probly the best shmup i've ever played
Quoted for "emphasis".
Also add 'Landstlaker' for the Genesis (one of the greatest adventure games that no one has heard of).
I've heard of Landstalker. I even bought it lately. (See gamefinds thread)
They're supposedly making a sequal right now of Land Stalker!
Yay
Super Spike V'Ball
This may be a common game, but I really never hear much of people liking it one way or the other. I tried the Tournament mode, and I'm
Hooked. Each team you select and play against has it's own strengths and weaknesses, with a wide variety of music and courts for tournament play. Where this game really shines is in its 4 player mode. Of all the 4 player games made for NES, this one falls only to RC Pro Am II in terms of awesomeness. With a simple interface, a slice of hitting-the-button-really-fast, and the possibility of a
Volleyball team from Alaska to boot, this is one awesome little game.
Bump 'n Jump.
The Adventures of Rad Gravity
Funny thing is that I bought the new N-gamer mag here, and some editor mentioned the game.
Haha Ruudos, Rad Gravity was in your sig at the Nes Forums!
He's back
