Famicom: LayLa (dB-Soft)
Okay this is, i think, a fairly obscure one. I only know it exists because it was in a fairly large
NES ROM set I downloaded at one point. It's a sci-fi, side on scroller shooter, with large colorful graphics using almost a super-deformed kind of look. There's a fair bit of repetition in the graphics, but since it's only 128k I'm willing to forgive that. The music is O.K. too. The tunes aren't too bad, but they're a bit simple.
As far as I can tell, the game never got any kind of English release, but what little text there is (in the status bar and whatnot) is in English anyway, so it's perfectly playable.
However, here's the kicker. I have NO idea what the story is. Something about asteroids I assume, judging from the "Asteroid 1" message that appears just after the heroine (whom I assume is "LayLa") flies in on some kind of space-bike.
Consider this both a recommendation to play, and a request for more info: I can't seem to find anything about it on the web, but I've snagged a copy of the cart of Ebay (cart only, sadly), and am still looking.
Perhaps you'll get lucky and Manuel will take an interest in it
