A game I can not completely remember
I remember, a while back, I was about 10 maybe, I played this NES game. It was one of the most amazing
NES Games ever. I hardly have a picture memory of it. I just recolect the music was the best music I had ever heard, it was a side scrolling action style game. Can't remember if you had a gun or not. I just remember seeing it on one of those old game shows in the morning before school and then renting it the next day and being amazed. Sorry if this is vague, there could be tons of answers to this. I just know that if I were to actually see a screen shot of the game, I'd recognize it. Just think of a side scroller, with an awesome soundtrack. I'm just trying to figure this out, so that I may ebay it and buy it.
side scroller covers about 70% of the NES library...
side scroller with awesome music...
Megaman 2 is the best of both of those, but I'm sure you dont mean a game as well known as that.
Nah, trust me, it aint
Megaman, haha. I remember the character was a bit larger.
Krion Conquest, Little Samson?
-Pico
have a look.
You could be thinking about
Contra?
Sorry to be off topic here, but is that Brian Baker in the pic in your sig? If so, would that be a picture of Minor Threat?
I think you might be thinking of SCAT - Special Cybernetic Attack Team. That was a shooter and had GREAT music.
None of the links are working.
yeah, VGmuseum will only allow you to link to the HTML page for each game, so the only way that'll work is to change all of those links...
Oh well then he can just manually search those games at VG! lol
Solstice
Gauntlet
Maniac Mansion
Earth bound
Paperboy
Say what?
...
To the topic starter:
If you really want someone to help you with finding this game, you really need to give a little more information about it.
Could you at leat remember what the characters re like, weapons, level designs, bosses, anything?
It's difficult to narrow the field down from about 500 possible choices.
For you information I was also listing all the games which I believed had good music to them as well but I forgot to change the first sentance. So back off....
If i remember correctly there was some game on nes that used the
Megaman format EXACTLY. Maybe that can help some? It was a horrible rip off.
Take it all in good fun, Drache! Anyone-who-is-anyone around here knows that Z.E.N is our "Joker." No one starts wars here, and I'm sure Z.E.N isn't trying too, either. If you take offense to something, reply with a PM, but keep it in good taste. Let the other party know what you were stating during your post, and that you wished they would've said something different in their post. Don't post things like, "So back off," it only makes the boards look horrible. Thank you.
Sigh... Why must I be censored..
huh?
If you knew they weren't "side-scrollers" in the first place, why bother listing them. You're just going to confuse toubababoomkoomooni even more so than he already is.
It irks me when people make posts of the incorrect nature. No
Vices reading this topic are going to run off and play '
Paperboy' thinking it has "side-scrolling" and "good music" when it actually has neither.
...
I think you should download a
NES ROM of
Legacy of the Wizard, because that was one of the best games ever and the music was amazing. It was only sort of side scrolling so I don't know if it was it.
huh?
I posted a reply with some "bad" language,.. but it was all in good fun.. but it was removed.
Allright, I know everyone else has been well over this thread for a while, but this thread has bugged me, ever since I first saw it way back when.
Well, I think I may finally have a candidate.
From what little Toubabokoomi said in the original post, it had good music, it was a sidescoller, he was amazed, and he wasn't sure whether you had a gun or not. Well, I've come to the conclusion (finally) that you may very well have been thinking of GI Joe.
It had great music, it was a great, in-depth game, it is most definitely a sidescroller, it certainly amazed (especially since I was expecting total crap), and you can switch between shooting and punching, which may account for confusion over whether or not you use a gun.
Look, I to figure out what game this is. If I don't, I may need to kill again...
Nope. The memory is so vague. The picture I have in my head is not very clear. I must have been very young when I played this, but I remember me being into it. I'd honestly have to go through EVERY NES game to figure this deal out.
Damn. Worth a try, though.
Was it that video game based game show called "Video
POWer"?
I remember watching that show and seeing the contestants play games like '
Ninja Gaiden II' and '
Castlevania III' on it.
"Video
POWer" - remember anything?
Video
POWer was a great show. I love the end when the kid would run through the maze and grab games, systems, etc. Then they would go through everything he was able to get through the finish. Made me jealous.
As far as the game, I'm not sure.
Nah it wasn't.
I it was based in space.
SectionZ!?
Based in space, side scroller/shooter, good music!
It looks like that guy is flying. The character in this game walked? I honestly doubt this will ever be solved.
Hmm, yeah, he flies most of the time. But saying "Space" Narrows it down.
Air Fortress?
Again, Based in space, awesome music, and sort of a side scroller. But one section was flying, to reach an
Air Fortress, and the rest youy could walk/hover.
We'll keep trying.
Nope
Even though
SectionZ if you go to the ground you can Walk.
Yes, but it's much to slow, and the game is 99% flying based.
Nope not it
I think the guy was wearing orange, maybe.
i don't know if this was alreasy said.... is it
Solar Jetman?
pic?
Just search "
Solar Jetman NES" on google images.
And I somehow doubt that's it, it seems to be a flier/shooter?
Side scrolling action game set in space? I'll throw in Adventures of Rad Gravity as a possibility.
Nope
It must have been Total Recall. That would explain the trauma-induced memory loss.

haha nope.
