True Secrets
I found this tonight:
there are some interesting "Buried Treasures" in some
NES Games listed there. Such as unused graphics in SMB3, and slightly alternate scripts in
Ninja Gaiden. Very interesting stuff.
yes, the site is very hard on the eyes... someone likes the matrix a little too much
Somewhere I saw a site with an article from a guy who worked on
Maniac Mansion for the NES, and basically how pissed the team was at Nintendo over all the editing and censoring they had to do to the game. If I find the link, I'll post. Interesting stuff. I had read something about the unused sprites in SMB3 before.
That sure is an interesting site. I didn't know any of these facts.
And it's not so hard on the eye as I expected. I've seen much worse ones in my life.
The Super Mario 3 thing with the Japanese text in it is very interesting.
Oh, and that "lost" hammer bro looks so cool.
wow. that site is cool. theres a lot of stuff i didnt know. but i did, however, know about super mario 2 being a different game in japan. there, its a game called "doki doki panick!" and a lot of the graphics are different. i just downloaded the
NES ROM, but i have not played it yet.
Wow! That's a pretty cool site you found! I'll have to try some of the codes in there! I wonder if he ever played the MSX version of Vampire Killer? Some of the unused items in
Castlevania seem like remnants from that game...
speaking of weird stuff from games, has anyone heard of the negative level in mario (-1)?
i looked up how to get there and the instructions seem complicated. i want to check out the NEGATIVE ZONE

There was actually a nice long discussion about that specific level a few weeks ago, I think most of us have tested it out.
We've also found another one, level 0-1, which is a water level.
Also, if anyone else knows of any sites listing sprites that weren't used in games, alternate scripts, or anything else of that sort, please post them here.

It took me forever to get to the minus world, mainly because I was following a rubbish set of instructions. A good demonstration of how do it is given by ZombiehunterX here:
cool. i did the minus world. i see that you can get to 0-1 in a
NES ROM, but can you get to it on a cartrige?
Yes, using the Game Genie, and the Level Select cheat, although I can't remember what that is...
ooooo. i dont even own a game genie.
i find it VERY difficult to do the cheat trying to get into the minus world. its really annoying. you need to stand on the very end of the tube and jump backwards and press > on the d-pad at the precise time or else your head will just knock into the block and it wont work.
I know all about that... I still haven't successfully done it. Although my girlfriend has so you can imagine how frustrated I was after 20 minutes of trying and she tries and gets it on the third shot...
the thing is, i've done it twice. but for some reason, i cant do it again, even though im doing the same exact thing i did before, im even standing in the same spot.
yeah, I stood in every possible position, and inspected pixel for pixel to be sure it was right. like I said, I sat there for 20 minutes trying it... and nothing
the thing that really gets me, is that i watched zombiehunterx's banner demonstration over and over, and i could not re do it. but the reason i want to do it so bad is because i think i found another cheat. last time i did it, i though to myself, "hey, what would happen if i went in the second tube i see before the title of the warp zones came on?". so i tried it, and im pretty sure i ended up in 5-1. (its not supposed to do that). so i really want to do it again to see if im right.
yes, the other tubes take you to other levels in the game rather than hidden levels if you enter them using the minus world trick.
eh, damn. i thought i was on to something there
wow thats cool lots of stuff and new codes for my genie
i've been thinking of buying a game genie. (im not into cheating that much)
i just want it for a few choice games. do you think its worth it?
I think a game genie is definitely worth it. It's not just about the cheating, the Mario codes alone let you mess about with the way you play the game. Whether it be a gravity jump or accessing weird new levels.
i'll probably get one, (depending on how much they cost)
i could find one at gamestop.

that sucks i was just at my gamestop a couple of hours ago they sell no
NES Games whatsoever
anywayz the game genie definitly is a good investment
i live in spencer massachusets (i dont care if anyone knows my location)
there is a town near me called worcester. worcester has a gamestop that has used
NES Games and stuff. they ran out for now, but they should get more it
You are not alone. I can't do it either. Although I tried quite a while. I'm not patient enough to sit there for an hour or so.
