Nintendo in the crystallball
In Norway the magazines had something called Nintendo in the crysallball. They thought that it would be a reality console made of Nintendo in the future. They even had an imaginary picture of how it would be like. The thing was huge! It was a rollerfloor thing with a cable going to a helmet that you put over your head. Then you could just go and run and in the game the caracter you where would do the same.
Unfortunetly nothing like that ever came to Norway, but it sounded very cool, I wonder if anyone has heard of it, I also wonder if it ever came into production. It was also another console designed like a car and could only play car racing games. It worked just like the other console, only that you used steeringwheel and the helmet thing, because there wasn't a screen. I don't have any pictures, but hope it was interesting anyway...
I've never heard of anything like that! Sounds like they had a huge idea, but not big enough aspirations. It would cost a whole lot of money to make stuff like that, and they probably felt it was too risky. Who knows, maybe in the future...
Yeah, I know that it was big plans going on. They started with calling it VR (Virtual Reality.) Then they decided to rename it to VES (Virtual Reality Entertainment System.) In some arcade places they had one of these machines, and the batteries or
POWer-givers if you want, was even bigger than the consoles! I saw that it was a 3-D tanker game, it was pretty cool! The staff in the magazine in Norway called the project: Hologram-Gaming.
