NesterDC: Special Edition

In Emulators / NES ROMs

Well, NES-Luke is a bit tied up right now, but asked me to post this for everyone... it looks like a pretty cool topic too

Just read the features list... this sounds VERY nice. I'm going to have to give this a try, I still haven't gotten around to making my own disc for DreamCast, just those that others have made for me.

That definately sounds very nice indeed. I'm going to have to get that as soon as I get a Dreamcast.

I'd get a DC just for this! NESterDC looks awesome, I want a DC!

I hope it is good enough to replace my current 6.0.

I thought I was 100% happy with my current version (not sure right now which it is) but this edition seems to have some pretty cool features. I like the sounds of the built in manuals and and multiple save states.

It is taking a while to build the Image.

But i hope it will be worth it. just look at this sweet Title screen!

Oh my god oh my god oh my god *hyperventilates*

I just got this burned, it took a few attempts, since I tried to cram 4,475 NES ROMs on the CD with NSFs, box/cart scans, screenshots and manuals... (Note : the manuals in my case took up almost as much space as the NES ROMs, 300+MB)

So far it's great, though I only played Ninja Gaiden for a few seconds, the cart/box scans and screenshots are used fantastically to navigate the ROM selection.

I did find that the NSF player didn't actually output any audio, and I cycled through 60 tracks for the Ninja Gaiden NSF... although it could just be that it was unable to find the NSF for that ROM.

But once you figure out your space limitations, the rest is a snap (a time consuming one...) just point it to your ROM directory (no subdirectories allowed) select the image type, and wait. I suggest starting it before bed and leaving the computer on... especially if you're dealing with a large number of NES ROMs.

I burned it last night with much help from a friend I like it.

I was just wondering what speed did you guys burn the CD at? Because I know the Playstation's laser requires you to burn at around 4X to prevent the jumpiness of games.

generally 12x is the maximum recommended, I usually use 8X to be on the safe side.
