NES Emulator fceu
Hi im new to this whole emulator thing. I have a FCEU Emulator and the main button to attack and what not is alt. And when i hit alt of course the file option highlights at the top. I was jw if someone could tell me how to change the key from alt to something else.
click the "config" menu button, then select "input" then choose "configure" in the "port 1" section. and redefine your keys.
It's definitely worthwhile to invest in a real controller, too. Unless you're playing
PacMan, the keyboard is not the ideal input for
NES Games.
I have noticed this. Do you know a good site where i can buy one?
There's lots of things you can do. I'm pretty sure a couple threads have been made talking about the common practice of wiring an NES controller through your printer port.
Also, the guys at make actual USB Nintendo controllers.
Finally, a decent gamepad can be bought anywhere (Target, KMart, Walmart, etc etc) for $10-$20, which is normally good enough for most emulation.
Yup just go with the gamepad. Much easier to buy one than to do all that soldering and whatever.
There's no soldering involved if you don't want to. My rig is just all eletrical taped together. I have a friend that bought one of those USB dogbones, and it's incredible. That's probably the best way to go.
We use a playstation controller with a usb cable to convert it to PC use. It's great because it has enough buttons to also use for SNES. Bit tricky for N64 as you need to use keys on keyboard as well, but it's a cheap cable and you don't need to go buy ANOTHER controller to take up more room in an already crowded area. (or is that just at my place?) But it's a great idea for me to use anyway.
I use a couple of USB Gravis Gamepads I got at Best Buy. They work great and I've never had any problem with them. They only cost 15 bucks a peice. DO NOT buy Gemini brand AxisPads from Wal-Mart, the driver disk that comes with them sucks. Don't know why...but windows will act as though the controller is unplugged within a weeks time, happened to me on three different computers.
