list of EMUs for xbox
Heres a list of a bunch of emulators for Xbox, pretty neat but need a modified Xbox to use.
Also, for all of you interested in them Media Center PCs...
A cheap way to turn your XBox into one. A poor man's computer, oddly enough...
If there's ever a reason to get an X-Box, it would be for these impressive multi-media capabilities.
A couple more sites devoted to X-Box console emulation...
I would be really interested in how Project 64, xSNES9x, and FCEultraX run on the X-Box.
I was looking around and it turns out they make GAMES for it, too. Huh.
LMAO
I looked at the site and all . I dont even own an xbox but how does someone even put old
NES ROMs and play it on their x box anyway? I heard it can be done with DC as well.
On DC you sometimes have speed problems.
E.g. Dreamsnes runs between 75 and 90% of the original speed.

I dont think their are any speed problems with xbox. and if there is there are ways to add more ram and over clock the processor

No, there are no speed problems with SNES on the XBOX, in fact, you can make it run too fast.
but no, you cannot add more RAM or overclock the Xbox.

More ram ------>
Over Clocked Xbox, they dont say how they do it ----->

I don't consider desoldering, and soldering individual RAM chips as an upgrade path...
and I'm going to have to say 99.999999999999% of people would agree on that...
the CPU "overclock" as you called it, is a replacement, which would be even more difficult than the RAM...
because mods exist, and have been done, doesn't mean everyone can do it...

That's what I intended to say. You have speed problems on DC,so they try to emulate stuff on the XBOX, where you don't experience speed problems.

True they do just replace the cpu, my point with that was that the cpu is not a bottle neck. But as far as the ram goes, its not THAT hard. Ive put mod chips in playstations and put one in my xbox, and that doesnt look like it would be much harder than that. And if a an average person with at least some skill in soldering couldnt do it wouldnt be on a DIY type web site. Why would they make a page for something only a hand few of people could do?
Well, you try it and let us know how it goes...
I know from personal experience that desoldering pins of that type isn't easy, and resoldering to those pads without crossing any traces or contacts is going to be even more hellish.
Well I have been quite busy trying to get these emulators installed. This is much more complicated than with the Dreamcast.
I have already successfully installed my Xenium mod chip ("solderless" of course) to my ver. 1.6 box and loaded the h4x0rd BIOS, but can't get any of the emulators to load. According to the experts I need a replacement "dashboard", and none of the so-called installer programs or ISOs seem to work.
There is this FTP method for getting the dashboard on the Xbox HDD also, but I thought that FTP'ing to the Xbox was only possible first installing the new dash. ???:????
I don't have a crossover cable (it would've been nice if cables were given completely different "names" so when I go get a "CAT-5e cable", I don't accidently get a "straight-through" cable instead of a "crossover"... like I did). Is there an official name for that kind of cable that I need for Xbox-to-PC connectivity?
Or is there a sure-fire way to load a dashboard using a disc-based method?
(To anyone who knows...)
EDIT: This explains the differences between the ethernet cables very well. Now I know what I need (I think).
NTSC J X-boxes go for as little as $70 in town. I might have to pick up a few.
I just picked up a working IBM APTIVA out of a dumpster. 500 MHZ, DVD
NES ROM, etc. It makes a nice cheap computer.
How come you have NTSC X-boxes in japan?
Japan also uses the NTSC standard for televisions. I think the difference is in how the
POWer is drawn to the console.
yeah, I think youre right. 'cus in america, we use totally different
POWer cords than places like england and german and places over seas. lol just for the hell of it, I wanna go to england with an american
POWer cord and some rubber gloves and just go for it. ...and then die.
I put a modchip in my Xbox, aswell...
- 200gb HDD
- internalized the DVD IR dongle into the 4th controller port, added a relay so when no controller is in port 4 the DVD IR is active, and when you insert a controller the controller is functional.
- disabled the front panel buttons (
POWer and eject)
- use a wireless doorbell to turn the Xbox on and off
- front panel LED ring is wired one side HDD activity and the other NIC activity, I used a hex inverter in there so the LED's are normally on and blank when there is activity. Without the hex inverter, the LED's are normally off and light up when there is activity
- using a custom multi-BIOS on the modchip, one setting for composite video output and the other for VGA output. Ive got the slickest VGA setup out there! No internal modification required! Using official Microsoft HD pack
Hooked up to my 21" CRT monitor running 720p!
Im running Xbox Media Center as my dashboard, it is by far the best dashboard for Xbox period! In total, this Xbox has run me over $1000... and I never play the damn thing anymore!
But it sure has been a bunch of fun modding it!

Xbox Media Center is a dashboard? I thought it was just an app.
The "experts" tell me that Avalaunch is the best dash when paired with Evolution X. Sadly though, I have neither.
I just want whichever set-up handles the emulators the best.
XBMC is both an application and a dashboard. I think it was intended more as an application than a dashboard, but works the same either way.
