Making roms

In Emulators / NES ROMs

I was just wondering if anybody knows how to turn a nintendo cartridge into a rom?

several of the games i have there are no NES ROMs of on the internet so it would be good to make them.

Well, you'd need to build some kind of reader to Hook to the computer, usually a modified NES.

As for getting roms, my source for NES ROMs is they have over 900 roms, so chances are, it's there, also you don't have to do any stupid voting thing, just click and download.

thanks for that although i dont think i would be able to do it anyway.
i get all my NES ROMs from the old computer as well. its just that there are a couple they dont have there.

such as what? I know a few other places to get them.

If i cant find a rom anyplace else, I usually go to (Im not sure if this is entirely correct) It has a lot of NES ROMs, but it has alot of annoying hentai pop ups. Chances are you will find your rom there though.

annoying ads and pop ups is exactly why the old computer is my choice for NES and Atari NES ROMs it's plain, and simple, no entering some code, no voting on this or that, just sweet and simple click, and download your ROM

I agree. Thats why rom world is my last resort. Sure its annoying, but it does have the NES ROMs.

I remember back when emulation was just kicking off... for the first few years it was EXTREMELY easy to find NES ROMs, now it's a huge battle with ads, and voting, and security codes. but of course everything is getting harder and harder to find, there has been a lot of crap added to the internet in the last few years

rom world has a hyphen. its rom-world-com. they have NES ROMs on drnes.com also.

Ah, your right about the hyphen, but it is:

.com not -com

The games that i have never seen on any sites are
International cricet
Aussi rules football
both of them were only ever relesed in australia
i also have a 15 in one cartridge that about half the games i have never seen on any sites

Well, some googling led me to this...

not sure how helpful it may be, but I'll do some more digging.

Update: remembered this site;

Update 2: main page of the site from the first link;

Wow! That Tripoint link is interesting! How do people come up with this stuff? I guess general know-how, and the creator said it was quite simple, but it looks so complicated to make something like that. If there weren't people like that, we wouldn't have emulation! Thank you, you smart, smart people you!

yeah, Kevtris has some interesting projects, he seems to be one of the sages of NES hardware. with knowledge like that, everything is going to be simple for him. but for us average goons that looks impossibly hard

The thing on his site that interests me the most is the chroma decoder that he built for use in his Portendo, that would allow one to connect the NES (or any other console that has composite) to an RGB monitor and have crystal clear images. You may think that composite looks pretty good, but if you use composite and RGB on the same machine, for the same game, the difference will amaze you. I've done it with the RGB monitor I have for my Tandy Colour Computer 3.

I can't say I've really done anything nifty like that. The most intricate I've gotten is to run out of the single audio RCA jack and split it so both of my speakers on my stereo play the music. Cheesy, huh? It does sound much better, even though it's mono. The NES didn't have stereo sound capabilities, unfortunately.

I'm still running mono speaker unfortunately, I need to get a stereo so I can do that, nothing would beat Ninja Gaiden in mono surround sound

(curse you Roth, you've addicted me to that game )

Yeah, That's stupid.

Forced voting is stupid.
When a site is really good I'll vote even wehn I'm not forced to.
