ROM Links
There seem to always be alot of people asking for certain
NES ROMs, and then the same replies being posted for certain games. Here is a non-definitive list of places to check for your favorite games:
<--- site down or link broken
<-- No longer up
If you have any sites you would like to add to this, post them on this thread. Also, if you run across any broken links, post about it here. Maybe in this way, we can point any newcomers to this thread. Now, go get some
NES ROMs!
Greetings,
Here are 2 great
NES ROM sites.... Enjoy!
How could I forget?
As links are added to the list, you should edit your first post to keep a master list that's readily available at the top of the thread. Then it could be stickied or something.
Good idea, dude! I'll start taking care of that now!
NES files on the bottom of the list... we can't have that
I fixed it for you
Thank you for the great list.
I'll definitely need and use that many times.
here is one more
NES ROM site...
enjoy....
i am looking for a
Popeye NES ROM that will work for the following code: gsgkxg
Try downloading the
NES ROM from one of the links at the top of the page. If it's you can't find a
NES ROM of
Popeye that accepts that GG code at one of those sites, then likely one doesn't exist.
Here are two more nes sites you Didn't mention.
Thank you Shadow, the list has been updated!
does anyone have a copy of the
Popeye NES ROM that accepts gsgkxg; if so, pleased send me a copy; that would really help me a lot.
From what I understand, it's illegal to send
NES ROMs to other's through e-mail and such. Also, I can't get it to work, either. So don't feel too bad.
Just because I'm curious... what will/should that code do?
I was wondering the same thing. He seems pretty desperate.
It's a code for infinite lives:
He must be struggling on it to want to use the code so bad. Just keep at it, you'll get better at the game. Now you have ME playing it, and I can't get by the first ship level! Too bad the code won't work!
I understand that a lot of links have already been posted. But this is the best site I have come across. The only trick is that you have to do is register, then only use the icon links at the top. They don't have any newer systems than SNES roughly. They have about 9000
NES ROMs alone, which from what I can tell is every released NES game, along with pirates, hacks, and whatever you need. If you want to do really advanced searches right click on the "Advanced Search" and click open in new window (or tab). This way you can enter your own php variables.....unless you're unsure on how to do that.
Isn't there an invincibility code for
Popeye?
Should be better that infinite lives?
Nonsense. That's the purpose of this sticky. Give people a resource to back-up their games. I've updated the first post with your link. Thanks.
I haven't been able to find one. If one can read hex, though, it is certainly possible with hacking a
NES ROM while in an emulator... I need to learn how to read hex....
Good luck.
No voting or something. You CAN vote on the quality of the game.
Where i go to get all sorts of
NES ROMs-
Alright, all updated on the list.
It seems that the site Dr NES was taken down. I made a note of it next to the link, but will leave it on the list in case it ever happens to come back.
This site has a section for FDS games as well as
NES Games. Roth, you canfinish this link by adding the ROM page from that site. I cna't because I'm on a shitty computer.
Thanks for the link, Juggalo! I went ahead and just put the link to the main page. Someone might want to browse around or something.
Remember, if anyone runs across a broken link or torn down site, let us know. Thanks!
Just so you guys know, the link to Planet8Bit no longer works. I'm cleaning up my webspace, and moving a lot of stuff around.
When I'm finished, I will HOPEFULLY have NES, SMS, Game Gear, PCEngine (TurboGrafx16), AND all-new Gameboy/Gameboy Color collections up.
Gimme a couple days.
Let us know, when you're done and post the new link here.
Okay everything should be good to go. New link is
You'll be able to get to it with

I put the new link up on the 1st page.
For the pokemon freaks
Lots of good
NES ROMs there
Go to the
NES ROMshare page, lots of new GBA and even some NDS
Added the links to the front page.
I hope this thread never gets deleted in the future. I love all the sites you all gave. Thank you so much
It looks like pokedaily.com is down for the moment. I was just on there three days ago, sorry bout that. It's convienient if your a pokemon fan because they always have the newest pokemon gba
NES ROMs within a few days of release. Emerald is really good, me and my son take turns on it...and you can capture mew! Anyways, I'll bet the site will be back up soon.
They ask you register but there is no voting.
This link was either broken or the site is no longer up
That seems like an interesting and hassle-free site.
Thanks for your contribution.
I added the link to the first page.
That seems like an interesting and hassle-free site.
Thanks for your contribution.
I added the link to the first page.
Anytime, I found it believe it or not as a link to a site where I downloaded S
NES Games. and so far so good with their roms
Okay folks, here it comes, the mother of all postings: PSX, DC, Sega Saturn, etc. ISOs. They may seem difficult to work at first, but believe me after a while swap tricks will be your portal into the gaming world. First off, lets knock off the swap trick.
To perform the swap trick on the Playstation model (either X or 1), first get something to hold down the eject detector, a piece of tape and a toothpick work fine. Now, have both the import/CD-R and a real disc (something crappy, like spyro) on hand. I'll do this one by one, assuming you're leaving your lid opened.
1.Turn on console with real disc inside. When CD speed goes to 2X (very obvious), switch to CD-R.
2.If performed right, you should see the black Playstation logo now. Watch the CD speed slow down, speed up again to 2X, and when it slows down once more swap out the CD-R for the real disc.
3. Finally, your screen should flicker quite obviously or the CD will speed up again. Stick in your CD-R and you should be in business>
Now, the Saturn swap is much harder. First you gotta open the console, and tape the detector down (little metal thing standing up, turn on the console and hold them together to find). After taping, the CD lid will think it's always closed. Here's a video for model 2's and has some more specific how-to guides. I haven't been able to test the swap tricks out yet, but the video seems thoroughly convincing.
And on to the torrent sites. I looked long and hard for these beasts, and I assure you these suckers can indeed deliver.
A foreign site that has yet to work for me, but still the amount of torrents seems promising for almost every CD system.
A site with a bunch of isos for plenty of consoles, this one is a definite helper to me.
This one requires registering as a user, but believe me, it has some of the best torrent releases of all Sega CD based systems. A definite keeper for any of you Dreamcast owners.
This one is quite a large general site, however it has aided me once or twice on my search for a game.
There you have it, all the tools you need to maximize your console's performance. Enjoy!
Go here:
Basically you can download a whopping great file consisting of 968
NES ROMs in one go. What's the point in getting games individually when you don't have to? It's zipped up into a 100 meg file. For anyone with a dial-up connection like me just let it download overnight. It's worth using a download manager aswell.
Updated.
Nice link Legume Man!
ZHX's site changed domain names, so I updated the link with his new addy. If anyone runs across any links in old threads that link to nbgames.net... switch it up with zhxhome.net (in the case of
NES ROMs, that is).
no voting, no hassle, just click and download .
has a lot of other
NES ROMs too.
heres the direct link to
NES ROMs on the site.
Also has all the prototype
NES ROMs that are out, that is.
Thanks for the link, but it's already on the first post of the topic It's the second one on the list. Click to see the first page with all the links, or click page 1 on this thread.
EDIT: Just thought I'd better explain this thread for some of the newer members. Check the first post on this thread to see various link to
NES ROM sites. If you know of a good one that's not on the list, post it here, and the original list will get updated.
It might not be appropriate, but I downloaded an emulator tonight (FCE Ultra) and these links were very handy, so I just wanted to say thanks to those who contributed!
For the life of me, I can't find a site with GBA
NES ROMs. I went through my usual stops, then tried the list. Nada. I'm probably just being retarded, but some help would be appreciated.
P2P Networks are good for that. I downloaded a 980
NES ROM set in 10 minutes
The easiest way is to buy a
NES ROM dumper and dump them yourself...
But yes P2P network is good...but they do have some wrong formats of files...
Found a couple of sites with N64 games...
The first link wouldn't work for me though (probably because I have Norton Firewall running). Might work for others.
Second link works fine (it is very slow). Anyone who's patient should be able to get what they want with minor "shadyness".
Updated Thanks Z.E.N!
A french site I use to get most of my
NES ROMs. It only has systems that are older, though. So nothing beyond the 16-bit era, and only up to the game boy for portables. It uses cowering's Goodxxx ROM organization system, which is really helpful. It also has music files, although they're not quite as good as the ones on Zophar.
Emuasylum is back up, people! It's different now!
NES & GBA
There seem to always be alot of people asking for certain
NES ROMs, and then the same replies being posted for certain games. Here is a non-definitive list of places to check for your favorite games:
Where on each game's page is the link to the ROM? Am I just missing something? Are
NES ROMs not available for all games listed? What do I click to get to the ROM?
sadly, the
NES ROM's are now removed
By the way, which N64 emulators do y'all use?
Well I use 1964 and Project 64. They are probably the 2 best.
Hm. I think I'll try out 1964. Been having some problems with Project 64 recently... thanks.
Kind of an update, I guess--
At
^^ Yeeeeah. Before you joined and posted. The members on that forum really thought their crap didn't stink, didn't they? What a bunch of creeps, and the members are probably wondering why their forum shut down...
Needless to say, this is an edit.
You have to create an account, and you're limited on the KB you can dowload each day, but unless you're dowloading N64, that really isn't an issue.
It's pop-up free, has an extensive (to say the least) SNES and NES library. Unfortunately, you have to get a paid membership for N64 and above.
You can pull Cherryroms.com from that list =(
Thanks for the tip. Marked it as offline.
Hey, do you guys know which sites have Sega CD
NES ROMs? I haven't been able to find any, and I'm starting to feel mentally incompetent over here.
i guess they call you 'Uber Newb' for a reason
That romBay link I posted above has a lot of Sega
NES ROMs and ISO's as well, with none of that voting crap and pop ups.
Dammit.
I've managed to get the Sega CD games to work on Gens, but I'm not happy with how they're running, and I can't seem to find the proper Bios for Fusion. Anyone know which one it is?
i always put everything in the same folder (roms, emu, etc.) i don't know how it works for Sega CD (assuming that's what you're doing because of your post the otherday looking for SCD
NES ROMs ) but for NES, SNES, Genesis, GB, GBA i've never had a problem.
Yeah, you have to set the Bios directory for Sega CD. I've tried a bunch of them, but I haven't found one that Fusion can use.
there's gotta be a tutorial or something of the sort on google.
I've figured out to do it, I just haven't found the correct one for Fusion. Ah, well. At least the 2D games work.
Go to RomNation.net and ask for ad
Vice on this; there's plenty of people there that know about BIOS and such; just don't ask about ESA protected
NES ROMs.
Apparently you don't check your email very often. I sent you the files a while ago.
W
Hoops. Sorry, I don't really check that account regularly. Thanks, man!
hay guys
how r u with arcade emulation?
I'm trying to find
NES ROMs for Finalburn Alpha. I have a pretty good source for MAME, but there doesn't seem to be any overlap between the two emulators. Arcade
NES ROMs are a bit above my head.
Do any of you know a way to convert/a place to get
NES ROMs for FBA? I've found a few places for FBA specific
NES ROMs, but the selection is bad and none of them have the games I want. I've got MAME figured out, but I need to get FBA fired up for various .
More precicely, I want to get Darkstalkers to run. Preferably one of the two USA versions. The J version is option b. There's a fourth version out there that would also be fine.
Basically, I'm computarded, help me!
awesome for rpg fans.
Hey, the sites contain viruses (EXP/Agent.B), so why do you link to that fucking crap?
If nobody tells us that these sites spread viruses, how are we supposed to know?
Well, I've taken care of the matter and removed the two links from the top entry.
Thanks for the hint, Denny.
Did nobody notice it when he went to the site the first time?
O.k., I did some more research and found out the following:
1. The sites contain the same virus. It seems to be connected to some advertisement on the sites.
2. At if I try to download a
NES ROM, they always say "File unavailable"
3. only contains generic advertisement anymore.
4. don't work.
5. .
By the way, I would suggest that you list the sites according to the question how good they are. Many sites contain annoying pop-ups. So, I would suggest the following way:
If one needs a
NES ROM, he should go to
And in this way, I would list the sites according to how good they are.
1.
NES ROMNation,
NES ROM-World
2. ...
3. ...
For protected games: ...
Something like that.
If proper steps are taken to protect yourself, you won't get them.
Step 1:
Step 2: Use and install the hosts file. This ensures that sites known for bad behavior will be blocked outright. This generally won't prevent you from going to shady
NES ROM sites, but it will prevent the advertisers, and other hazards connected with them.
Step 3: another precaution that could be taken is that when you this is similar to the hosts file, but is specific to the browser, not system-wide, and is much more user-friendly.
Of your 129 posts, you've only posted from three separate IP blocks, Don't get over confident in your sense of immunity.
Let's end this now. there is a general warning, if someone wishes to evaluate those sites, I'll happily update the links with descriptions/warnings.
As of this point in time, this thread is locked, link evaluations can be sent to myself or manuel via PM. If the PMs use a respectful wording, I'll update the post.
Denny, if you still have problems, PM me.
