Super CastleVania IV by Treasure
You know, I had heard that it wasn't actually Konami who made this game, so I went and searched for info on it. I guess they used to be part of Konami, and eventually split off and made this awesome game!

I actually have that game, in my pidly SNES collection(a dozen carts or so)... I got it for almost nothing on Ebay on a whim, but I'm not sure if I've even played it... Maybe once, just to try it out...

If you're not sure that you played it, then you should. It is definately one of the great
Castlevania games. I love the way you swing with your whip. It has great game controls, and the graphics rule!
Somebody likes whips here, eh?
I played the game once on a worn out controller in a store... couldn't get so far. And it's true, the graphics are very good, I liked those.

I just tried it for a few minutes the other day. The graphics are cool, and the game is pretty decent, for
Castlevania... I just can't play platformers for too long, personally...

wait.... so this isnt a "real"
Castlevania game?!?! all this time.... i had no idea
...
I don't mind when it's a bit easier.
It's just a means of realism. It was unrealistic in the first
Castlevania games that you can't whip upwards...
...
Of course for a normal mortal man like me it might be difficult, but those video game heroes are always quite strong guys. (Don't they have leather whips, too?)
i thought the 8 directional whip was awesome
the only thing i don't like about this game is how the main character looks! other than that, this game is perfect
What exactly don't you like about him? His SM-ish clothes?
Hahaha! Manuel and his "whips and chains!"
Anyway, I also like the game because of the look of some of the bosses. It's been awhile, but I remember the Phantom Dancers were pretty neat. I also seem to remember a bat or something in a room full of gold. Maybe the bat was made of gold, too. I can't remember...
What's wrong about whips and chains?
We even have whips at home.
Back to the topic:
The bosses really look nice in that game.
To Roth:
Yeah, Treasure was a subsidary of Konami and they made basically all trhe classics we know and love (
Contra,
Super C,
Castlevania). Anyways, around '95 they quit and combined with another companmy and became Treasure. Their more famous for their
Contra-clone, Gunstar heroes for the Sega Genesis in fact...
Contra 3 for SNES feels a lot like Gunstar Heroes. But nowadays they make the Wario games for Nintendo.
I LOVE Gunstar Heroes, I'm not so much a
Contra fan, but Gunstar Heroes pwns all! Treasure made that, Ikaruga, they seem incapable of putting out something that doesn't pwn all.

yess the bat was gold and yes this is a
Castlevania game just treasure broke off after ward (what i read about). I love every thing about this game EXCEPT that one level where the disc of death(razor) is on the bottom of the screen and u have to jump on broken stair to the top for like ever! i died there like a bajillion(yes a bajillion) times i just hated how awesome that part was. and hard
Actually, I just finished it on emulator just then. Awesome game. Why can't Konami make good games like this anymore? Now all the vampire hunters look like girls and their all RPG-ish.
Konami picked up a new style. probly a new artist for the characters.
I really enjoyed Super
Castlevania IV. The 8 whip direciton was a really nice add on. One of my favorites personally.
This one was & is fantastic, I can't believe I forgot I owned it. 8 directional whip, that room of gold, & the 'leap of faith' towards the end are the greatest parts for me...I read on some hint website that if you jump on top of a chest in that room of gold, like 255 times or something, some reward like the food or something appears...anyone ever have TIME in that level to do this?
no, i actually never heard that, so i mgiht try it next time.
And i posted earliar there might be a new artist, well now we've all experianced Dawn of Sorrow art.
Castlevania 4 is a masterpiece. The best on SuperNES. The graphics on Dracula X were good, but they lost the 8 directional whip.
The music and action reminded me of Actraiser which is one of my favorite Super
NES Games.
