Cheap NES auctions...maybe?
This may be a potential goldmine, I dunno, but it seems kosher. Still, harder to trust people on this.
That sounds cool! Auctions just for the NES.
You'll have to look at them for some time whether they are trustworthy or not, but I think there shouldn't be a problem.
And bids start at 0$.
That sites run by Spitlord who has a forum for the site as NES Channel if you want to check it out:
The only problem I can see with it is it's a buyers market. There's a much smaller audience which means prices should generally be cheaper. Good for buyers but most sellers will want to get the highest possible price and that'll probably be at Ebay.
I like the idea behind it. A site purely for NES collectors without the site taking a big cut as a fee. Very nice!
I wouldn't worry too much about the trust aspect of it. I've been meaning to sign up there, but haven't yet. Maybe I'll do that today.
I think it's a cool idea as well. If it pans out the way everything is planned, it should be a great thing. We shall see!
Should be a great idea, yes, but as Daynum wrote, sellers will probably make better profits on eBay.
It will be interesting to see how the things develop.
Well, I had my first dealing on NES Auctions. It went pretty well. I got my games rather quickly (about 3 days), and they all worked good and everything.
About selling on E-bay over NES Auctions:
Yes, I'm sure you would make more money selling games on E-bay, but that's not the whole point behind NES Auctions. The thing that Spitlord is trying to create is a place where collectors can get together to try and lower the prices of
NES Games. It seems on E-bay, games for the NES go for a big price from non-collectors. If people with doubles put them up on NES Auctions for a reasonable price, then the market for games between collectors themselves could go down. So basically, if you have doubles of stuff and want to help other collectors, this is a good way to do it.
Right now the selection is low since the place is trying to get on it's feet. But the more people start visiting and perhaps using it, then more games will more than likely appear on there.
Spitlord has also been asking for want lists from everyone to post up. This would also be a great way for people to get together and exchange stuff. What he's trying to do is great. Hopefully it will go as he plans.
By the way, if anyone is interested, I have an auction up. It's in the "Other Systems Accessories" section. It's the Justifier Light Gun for the Sega Genesis.
