Moderators needed
OK. Traffic at The NES Files Forums has started to exceed what I can realistically keep up with on a daily basis. I am therefore, asking for volunteers to moderate the forums. Some of you have already PM'd me, asking to 'keep you in mind', but please reply to this as well, or you won't be considered. Please include which group(s) you'd be interested in moderating.
Anyways, I've come up with some basic rules for moderating. These are the responsibilities of anyone who volunteers to moderate. The basic idea, is to stimulate quality conversations, watch for abuse, and be very open-minded. Anyways, here's the basic rules, which will probably evolve over time:
o Must be established member of forums
o Read all messages in moderated forums daily(preferrably multiple times a day)
o My personal discretion
o Inform me of any period in which you are unable to fulfill your moderating responsibilities(vacation, exams, lack of time, etc.)
o Start conversations(optional)
o Participate in conversations
o Move mis-placed topics into the most appropriate group
o Delete duplicate posts(always delete the 2nd one)
o Delete cross-posts(posting in multiple forums; delete all but the appropriately placed one)
o Delete any blatant spam messages
o Delete posts with extremely offensive language
o Notify me immediately via Email/SMS if anything suspicious happens
o Be nice. This is no place for people on a
POWer trip.
Thanks.

I volunteer, and feel that I meet the criteria. if possible I'd like to Mod the Hardware group, and possibly the
Megaman group, I'm up for anything else you feel could use my attention though.
I would like to put in my.... nomination? The boards that I have the most interest in are Games, Emulators /
NES ROMs,
Castlevania,
Ninja Gaiden, Off-Topic, and Other Classic Systems. As NES-Luke said, though, were ever you feel is necessary.
I'd be interested, too, but not at this moment.
I have lots of things coming up at university the next 5 weeks.
If it's after that, it'd be fine.
edit:
I'd be interested in the Modern Systems, SNES and/or
Super Mario Bros. sections.
Although I gonna be pretty busy the next weeks I think I can manage to look in every day (except Monday... Monday is impossible) at least once.
OK. For now, I've made Roth and NES-Luke moderators of all forums other than Announcements(I should always keep up with this group, no matter what). If you guys need help figuring out how phpBB works for moderating, LMK-- it's fairly simple once you know where the buttons are(usually to the upper right of the message, and the bottom left of the topic). Feel free to focus on the groups you've chosen, but try to read them all-- if you're unable to read them all, let me know and I'll distribute the responsibility a bit better. Thanks.

Congratulations to our two new moderators.
If your looking for a third, I'd be willing to take on the responsibility.
I know I've not been around for the past few weeks but, holidays being what they are and the fact that my family is on the other side of the country...
I have alot of time to mod when I'm home and even more time on weekends (at home and from work... I do nothing but play
NES ROMs at work Saturday and Sunday).
mmm guess i'm a bit to late!Anyways congrats everyone!
Well, i DID want to mod the
Zelda or Mario forums, but 3 mods is plenty. If you ever decide to make a gamecube or N64 specific forum though, I'm your man.
although i just started maybe in a couple weeks or so i am able to be added i am online most of the time and have nothing else to do and have been moderators in other boards before
If traffic increases, I nominate maneul to be the next mod hands down, he is very dedicated to this message board, I always see him under new topics posted.
Whenever a mod is needed, I'll be there.
Thanks for the nomination.
don't know of dk is still paying attention but how many members do we need before we can nominate another mod?
I'll listen to my mods. If they let me know there's too much traffic for them to handle, I'll ask for another mod. At this point, manuel is first in line...

... and that has happened! Congratulations, Manuel!
Congratulations Manuel!
Yes, congrats Manuel!
Congrats? ... what happened?
Somebody who knows please mail me.
edit: Now I see.
Thanks for the congratulations.
Congrats.!
Finally, Manuel is Mod! Who is next in line anyway?
PPL Who should be viewed:
- Me
- Daynum
- Malon
- Ninja
- dweller
- Devil
- ZEN (Probably the one I want next)
- Zombie
-
Star Tropics
Anyone I missed?
I think this depends on how fast the forums grow. For a while 4 mods should be ok. But in the future with some 1000 members we'll need more!
Well, 371 users is along way from 1000, but someday we mite reach there.
Well, I've got to admit that I am interested, but I guess I'm too late...Anyway if you should consider me, please PM me!
Thanks!

hey what about me? Would I make a good mod?
......
Do we really need any more...
....
I'll do it! I specialize in
Super Mario Bros. Forums, the offtopic, and the games forums!
It's great to see that everyone would like to take part in helping the forum ). If a need arises for another mod, a person will be asked, though I don't see that happening in the near future.
I'll volunteer. I could mostly do the "Off topic" forum, since I mostly post there anyways.
Where is NES-Luke?
He's moving right now. According to his left indications, he should be back in a week or so.. SHOULD be.
Yea, I miss NES_Luke. Also, I don't think we need another MOD. This board still is small, and 4 MODs are good enough.

Those were the veterans of the forums before the summer, look at the post's date, look at your Registration date
Those were the veterans of the forums before the summer, look at the post's date, look at your Registration date
And look at how concerned with post counts you are, and how badly you want to turn this place into the IGN boards...
you know how it goes, if more mods are needed, we let dkalweit know, and it is discussed. many things are considered, and post count is of zero relavance. join date is about as important.
Luke is right.
Post count can't be the only criteria for choosing a mod.
It's quality of posts, the time spent on the forums, good etiquette and orthography, etc etc...
