Web Space for forum-related files!

I am now providing online web space for forum-related files. This includes images, mp3s, etc. Nothing executable, illegal, or virus-infected. The directories are available at:

Each user who has sent me files has a directory there with their files in them. For now, please just Email me files at and I'll put them up when I get a chance(no guarantees as to how fast). Let me know which thread they're related to so I can make sure they're relevent. PM me here to make sure I get the Email. Thanks.

Since I'll be posting everything, I'll manually watch everyone's consumption. I'm not setting up specific limits right now, as I have plenty of space/bandwidth.

So would this be strictly for images, or are text files alright, too. Say, for listing our collection? Or a new list of something?

One on the back is for connecting another controller (or the famous mat or something) to it.

I didn't realize that they are that dirty. But I can't get it off just with wet cloth. It's very very old dirt and dust.

On the back there is that "Din style connector".
It says it's for the "RF connector". It's just for plugging it into the TV.

yeah, and it's in all those small areas... best bet may be to open them ip and use water on the plastic pieces after removing all electronic parts from them... I do that to my controllers to get the years of hand grime off of them.

I'm quite afraid of opening them.
I'm good at opening, but not so good on putting things together again.

video, yikes, that could eat up a lot of bandwidth... just how much have you got?

1000GB/month. Current usage on the Linux box(which is where this is hosted) is 2-3GB/day, so that's only 60-90GB of the 1000GB allotment.

That's a lot. There is a good video out there (when you read the reviews), but I can't get it, because nobody is seeding the torrent.

Technically, 1TB is 1024GB, but yeah-- close enough. I'm not sure the best way for people to get me big files for posting in the web space yet. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it...

Pretty darn close! A terabyte is 1024 Gb. Just like all the others as you go down the scales. 1024 Mb is 1 gig, 1024 kb is 1 Mb, 1024 b is 1 kb. It's pretty cool how that works out...

As for the torrent, I haven't messed with those. I don't know exactly how it works, but it reminds me to much of Kazaa from what I've heard...

FTP would work, but it's not too secure... people could be uploading anything...

Yeah, it would work, but it'd have to be a good client. Alot of the FTP clients aren't secure, and passwords are sent over the net as plain text. Of course, there's still the problem of anything being uploaded... too much of a security risk...

Bittorrent works different than Kazaa.
In Kazaa you permanently allow the other users to access your files in a folder you mark.
And you have to download the whole thing before others can download from you.
In Bittorrent, people can only download from you, when you have the download window open ("seed"). Even if you don't own the whole file, people can download chunks of the file. That's why files can be spread quite quickly.
The bad thing is, if nobody seeds, nobody can download.

But when it works it's frickin' fast!

It's also easy to install and use.
Install it, click on a torrent link and wait.

it wouldn't download any faster than you normally download from a server, but there is a lot of content that you can only get through torrents, as there is no central server, and nearly no bandwidth cconsumed for anyone.

I thought everybody (almost) in the US has broadband... that's what German magazines tell. And Germany is so retarded in this field... I got my broadband connection (w/ lousy 384kb/s where in Japan they use 12Mb/s as standard, YahooBB) in September 2004.

I'm new to all things computer! I'm studying to be a PC programmer, and I just finished my first semester of college in December (http:/students.dacc.edu/~rbryant1/), and that's where I learned anything I know about computers. When I was in high school, there wasn't many classes about computers, just how to use a spreadsheet.

I once could program simple things in Basic and Pascal (we had it in school). Basically it's interesting, but I forgot everything.

I'm kind of torn on how I want to do things. I'm not sure if I would like to make programs, or go to the web field, so I'm kind of studying both. I'll be learning how to use Flash, Dreamweaver, Visual.net, and a slew of other programs. Should be interesting...
