What have they done to Mario?!

In Super Mario Bros.

Is anyonout there as mad as I am for all the non-adventure type mario games they have made? I am really mad that Nintendo has focused on stuff like copying DDR and they wonder why Sony and Mircrosoft are doing MUCH better then them.

I was ok when they came out with Mario cart and some of the early stuff, but now it's like Nintendo is only using him for remakes of Basketball games and stupid stuff like DDR! IT will totally take away from msot people wanting to buy or maybe even rellyon Nintendo, I was disappointed with how the GCN did with it's games. . .

Yeah, your not alone on that subject. I think Mario Baseball- mario basket ball and mario soccer or whatever the hell they are called are going to far. whats next? Mario Sex SImulaor 6999?

Yeah, I hear that. I still do love the real Mario games though. Paper Mario 2 was really good, which shows they haven't given up making good games along side the crap.

Don't forget that he's in SSX On Tour on the GameCube too. As well as every other game that's ever come out for it...

Ok, maybe they gone a bit over board, but I know a lot of people who find the spin offs fun. They aren't like real sport games, so people who dislike sports to begin with, find themselfs loving the Mario sport games because you can do more stuff in them, and its not too seroius. Also, I'm glad they put Mario in DDR. If they didn't, it would've been like every other DDR game. I do dislike nintendo putting Mario in NBA Street 3, and SSX 3 though.

the sport games they made that were actually good are mario kart, mario Golf, and mario Tennis. i am hoping they make some more good sport games with mario.

I played Mario Smash Football in a store yesterday and have to say it was pretty damn fun. Reminded me in many ways of Nintendo World Cup but with more players/special moves. I'll probably get it... in a year or so when it's cheaper (yes I'm a cheap skate).

What have they done to Mario?!

i believe the correct question is "What they done to Mario?!"

Exactly . . . even though I totally sucked at Mario Golf

maybe eventually they will make another good sports game with mario in it.(hopefully)

Perhaps Nintendo put Mario in too many games. He especially doesn't fit into NBA Street 3 and SSX 3.
But from the point of playability all sports titles (as far as I could test them) with Mario are very good. Those are fun sports games you probably won't fin on other consoles.
If you don't like it, nobody forces you to buy it. Just ignore the Mario games. It's easy.

I personally don't care, because i like FUN sports games(if they're fun) And seems to me that MArio Sports are fun, and DDR Doesn't Suck, it is better than Soccer or should i say Strikers.(i hope u caught this Joke, that isn't even funny,)

I completely agree. Mario has become a whore for Nintendo. (pardon the language) I love Nintendo and all, but jeebus, is it nessessary to put him in everything. It's almost like Nintendo is afraid Mario is going to die. He is the most classic character ever. He's not going anywhere. They should make nother SMB game though, another platformer, not like Smash Brothers or anything. That would be cool.

I'm literally angry with rage about all the sport spinoffs. Mario has the ability to fly with his hat and launch fireballs from his fingers. Hell, he may even have a huge hammer in his left pocket. Combine that and his skill with action commands, and you might as well classify it all as steroids. Such a divinely POWered character has no place in sports games, no matter what special features they add to compensate. Leave him to gathering stars (in golden, crystal, or spirit form as they happen) and squishing goombas into nothingness. That's all i have to say.

Actually, on my return a month after posting the above reply, I have more. DDR and Mario were two things I used to thank God for having them not be combined. Seriously, in bed I would like go "Thank's God, for not combining the best games in the world with the worst." Then Satan somehow got a hold of the situation. Suddenly, Shigeru Miyamoto becomes his meat puppet and DDr. Mario Mix comes out, and brinking me on the edge of homicidal tendensies. From what I can gather, there's an unusual version of the old underwater song, plus (you ready for this?)
XTREME MOZART!!! All probable misspellings aside, that took it too far. I went completely postal, then I decided to rant on every gaming forum I could find. And now I'm here... again.

Satan must have got hold of me to because i've found myself wanting a piece of that Mario DDR recently. Seriously considering a purchase.

Hey since when were you daynum?

Maybe he's pulling a "OMG".

just remember DDR isnt the worst game, Shaq-Fu is, and also now you know........

I hate it but they do it mainly for...thats right people $$$$$$. Everyone knows who mario is so the big N is gonna milk him for all hes worth. Not to mention they should make another brothers game with platforming. Im still waiting for a "Super Mario Bros. 4." And i hope the one they are making on DS will be good

I bought Dancing Stage Mario Mix, because it was in a sale.

But I don't use it. It went straight on eBay to make a little profit from it.

I think if a game is really good it doesn't matter what characters it features... but that's just my 2 cents. I'm not much into DDR games, so I'm not interested really.

Were you guys ALIVE in the 80's? If anything, Nintendo's Mario-whoring is at an all-time low. Nintendo used to have more stuff with their name and/or characters stamped all over it than every other company combined, I'm pretty sure. Nintendo was definitely an ENTITY, and not only did Mario appear on everything from breakfast cereals to bedspreads to toothbrushes, he cameod in more games than many of us know.

Oh, and Mario sports games are always light hearted and fun. Give it a rest.

And I don't appreciate all the DDR bashing.

but then it wasnt Mario, Nes open, and punch-out!!, had mario but wasnt called Mario Tennis/Golf or anything.

I dunno, I like the mario kart, and soccer ones, it's nice to see somthing you grew up with is still popular, so one day when you're 50, you can still relate to your kids!

Pretty much how I feel on the subject. If someone doesn't like Mario being used so much then that's fair enough, but I don't get why people are acting as if this is a new phenomenon. The modern sports games are just a continuation of the NES titles and he has always made strange cameos, like in Sim City where you had to protect your city from Bowser who was wrecking the city looking for Mario.

Shaq-fu and moon walker. I just give moon walker credit for being funny. But I call DDR a worst game because it has plunged america into a nightmare world.

AND I'm not saying this is a new thing, the spin-offs. I'm just saying that they have just now gone far and that the original ones were tolerable. I even remember a Mario soda line. The whole super merchandizing brothers era was actually nessesary to get Mario to the world, but now that everyone knows him, it just really sucks.

By the way: I still do hate DDR no mater how much people hate me for that. And you would probably say: "You hate DDR because you cant dance, Muffinman, you jerk!" But when you think about it... no that really, really isn't it.

It really isn't.

NEVER speak ill of Moonwalker.

Accurate FM synthed versions of such classics as "Smooth Criminal" and "Beat it" make the game an instant classic.

I have the FM synthed version of Beat it on my PC. I am tring to track down the Moon Walker game.

Personally, after playing Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart DS, and New Super Mario Bros. DS, on my friend's system, I can't be happier with what they've done to Mario.

Yes. At least they're keeping him around, instead of letting him die out like other Nintendo characters such as--should I say it again?--Kid Icarus. After seeing there was a game called "Super Mario RPG," I had my doubts, but once again, I was surprised by the level of fun in the game. Same is true of Mario Kart, which I just got into, and my wife keeps insisting I try Mario Golf. Mario will forever rule.

The new Super Mario Bros. looks pretty good, I might get that... that is if i had a DS...

Get it when the DS' price drops, and it starts getting bundled with numerous games, like with the Gamecube. That's what I'm doing.

There's also a chance that there will be a DS lite and New Super Mario Bros. bundle, maybe with a limited edition DS. Of course, when the Lite comes out in the US (if it hasn't) it will probably drive down the prices of the original DS, particularly the second hand ones.

June 11th, officially. But some stores have broken the street date, and it was available yesterday.

It comes out three weeks tommorrow over here, but it's likely some branches may sell it a couple of days before hand. And the new super mario comes out in a month, so i'm going to have to wait 5/6 weeks before getting the two.

Yeah, you guys get the bitchin' black one on launch too. We're stuck with "polar white"

White isn't that bad.
And we Europeans pay much more than you guys for the "privilege" (?) of having a black one.

Yeah, Pit's far from dead. He's gonna be in Smash Bros: Brawl. Snake will kick his ass though.
