Great games for the SNES

In SNES

I just got an SNES. I have my tax return dough. Time to blow some cash. Recomend me some awesome games for the SNES. Anything but sports. GO!

Lots listed here:

Donkey Kind Country, man.

And a load more:

Thanks! You 2 are good guys.

Where did you get an SNES from?

My two cents would be Bio Metal and Metal Warriors. Those two games are both very, good (if flawed) and excessively underrated games.

Bio Metal is a hardcore, furious, extremely fast paced, horizontal shooter (one hit kills). The critical gameplay element is your "G.A.M." weapon, which is pretty much a rechargable shield which you use ofensively and defensively. Your main strategy is to time its usage.

The big problem is the lack of weapon variety. There really is no reason not to always use the homing missile/spread shot combo.

Metal Warriors is a fun, challenging, unique, sidescolling shooter with a decent mix of exploration and action. And giant robots. You can leave a robot at any time and get in another one (if you find one). The gameplay difference between the mechs is awesome, and the fact that enemies can board your abandoned mechs was a nice touch. Also, it's done by Lucasarts.

Still, I found some of the missions to be kind of cheap and repetitive.

...

Also, you want to pick up Act Raiser. Period.

All three have kickass music, too.

He's right you know.

There are a lot fewer underrated games on the SNES than most other consoles, unfortunately...

Act Raiser is quite good. I have Illusion of Gaia as a personal favourite (yes, I am Canadian fyi). Non-rpg faves of mine would include Street Fighter 2010 Alpha 2 and Super Mario Kart, for example.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a MUST!! so is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4: Turtles in Time, Super Metroid, Street Fighter 2010 2: Turbo.

i don't know, i hardly ever play my SNES

Isn't Super Street Fighter 2010 2 cooler than Street Fighter 2010 2: Turbo though?

if Super Street Fighter 2010 II, and Street Fighter 2010 II are the same, then yes, Turbo is better. well, it's a little more challenging. it's basically the same game with faster speeds.

on the other hand if Super Street Fighter 2010 II is different that Street Fighter 2010 II, then i have no idea.

zombies ate my neighbors pissed me off when i was a kid. so hard. i doubt id buy it again. id probably break another controller

Super and Turbo are very different. Super has a bunch of new characters (all of which I dislike) and I believe was the introduction of Akuma.

Turbo is more like classic SFII.

Fei Long is actually pretty cool.

I think Akuma wasn't released until Super Street Fighter 2010 2 Turbo which wasn't released for the SNES but I could be wrong.

After some research, that is correct.

i popped in my illusion of gaia a while ago, and im at the pyramid, and the solution to my problem way before was easy, just move a statue.

Yeah, the funny thing about the game is that for an RPG, it's dead simple. The puzzles seem hard sometimes but they're only as complicated as the objects around you.

I LOVE the final boss battle, a great mix of strategy and button mashing.
