Linux on a Laptop.

In Off-topic

Since I have my new Desktop my old Laptop is collecting dust. I thought a neat little project would be to install Linux on it. I am new to the whole Linux scean and I am wondering what should I begin with? What is the best Linux OS to use for newbies to Linux? Thanks alot!

I've been out of the Linux loop for a while, but specs would help in determining a useful configuration.

How much RAM does it have? What's the CPU? etc...

GenuineIntel
Pentium(r) Processor
Intel MMX(TM) Technology
96.0MB Ram
File System: 32-bit
Virtual Memory: 32-bit
40 GIG HardDrive.

Well, nothing is going to be fast on that hardware, but I found to be pretty nice on older machines.

Aaron, I would go with DSL (Damn Small Linux). You can either boot the OS from a CD or copy it to the hard drive. I don't have a lot of info on it, however I have run it. It's actually a really great program. Works great on low end machines.
