I was at an anime con!!!

In Off-topic

The past week was insane...

Every inch of my body's in pain. My shoulders have swelled a bit, my legs feel like theyre going to fall off, my voice is shot, and I think I've gone a little bit deaf.

Did I have a good time?: Hell yes. Lets do it again.

Waking up at the asscrack o' dawn wasnt a big challenge. I got dressed, did my makeup and left for the Con. Arriving at the hotel on the first day I stood astonished at the number of bright costumes, and fanboys stood in the 1000 foot line running up the side walk, up the stairs of the building, and up the side of the building to the side entrance. Due to the incessant bitching of a parental unit of one of the younger con-goers, we got bumped from a reserved spot near the front to the ass end of the line. We waited a whopping 3 hours before getting a badge. During the wait I ran into a girl dressed up like Mana. <3

In case you were there and didnt know who I was, I was the "Guy who used his umbrella alot.". I was an Elegant Gothic Aristocrat "coincedentally" named Gackt (<3_< 3). No pictures were taken, except from my friend Loki who will be giving them to me soon.

The Dealer Room was the most beautiful sight I ever saw. They had merchandise from almost every anime and Japanese pop culture item there (except Golgo 13 ). My most favorite store in the whole room is the J-rock store.

Now let me break down the J-Rock store. An asian man in his 40s runs the store dressed in a full EGL costume. That was cool to see all on its own. The walls of the place were covered in Nightmare, Malice Mizer, Black Stones and Gackt pictures. OMG!!!! GACKT!!!! (sorry I just lost my composure, and sense of decency..) They also had CDs, posters, and photobooks of the aforementioned artists. This and Airsoft guns. I love airsoft guns. Malice Mizer Gackt Airsoft = happy time for me.

I had all sorts of fun atttending a bunch of panels and gaming events I'll come back to when my head is more clear.

Nice that you had fun.

I was at an anime convention, too, once. That was in 2000. Man, that's already a long time ago.

Make sure to post photos you receive from your friend. I'd like to see "Evil-NES-Gackt".

If you think dealer rooms on conventions are cool, then you really (I mean really) have to go to Japan. Believe me.

Sweet, Your so lucky to go there! We have a thing called Anime North here but I still haven't gone yet.

What, no Balzac at the music store?

TELL ME that they had Gigantor stuff. Tell me they had Robert Kinoshita stuff.

My mind is now more capable performing sane mental functions... ...for now.

Yes, Newb they had Gigantor things.

Some stuff i remember randomly: I attended a few panels whilst waiting for the rest of my group to arrive at the con. I caved and Went to the MPS ( the people trying to make real Gundams) Seminar those guys were whoring in the middle of the hall. Lemme tell you. It was a rip off. They repeated information they threw at me on the first day. I wasnt impressed. If they show it next year (at least a full-working component) I'll be more impressed. I caught a few EGL girls that I hung with at the piano on day one. The Mana I mentioned earlier Mistakened me for Kahla, but I told her who I was. She got it ~_^. Unfortunately I forgot to get her phone number and other contact info. I'll find her again. next year. She was hot.

The viewing rooms were OK. nothing I've seen, or heard of, so I need to catch up on my anime. but I did see a good Live action comedy movie with type direction. Me like ^^ .

Mostly I hung with my friends and newly made aquaintances, and took alot of free stuff at the tables ( I made sure they were free, so I'm not going to jail )

At the game rooms, I showed off on ParaParaParadise (ManiaX on crack) , and was addicted to the two biggest words in game history: Katamari Damacy.

Over the course of the con, sweat started to seep into my trenchcoat, so much, that I couldnt wear it on the last day of the con.

Awwww f'ing sweet! Why don't they do cool conventions here?? All we ever get is biker rallies. Not that bikes are crappy... But once you've seen 80000 old lawyer/doctor type guys with fake pony tails on their over hyped and super expensive harley davidsons... It all looks the same.

i know EXACTLY what you mean. we got those here too. every couple of weeks is "BIKE NIGHT!!" downtown. it's nothing but crappy bands that don't write thier own music, drunk idiots, and rich drunk idiots on bikes

LMAO!! Sounds like every Tuesday at Hooters over here! As far as the drunk idiots go, that seems to be an every night thing.
