How many DVD's do you guys and girls have?

I think I have about 10 or 15 im not so sure...

I currently have 91 DVD (individual) I used to have over 200 but times got tough.

I also own these box sets...

Micheal Moore- The Awful Truth Season 1 and 2
Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 1
Marilyn Monroe Diamond Collection
Ranma 1/2 Season 1 and 2
Sex and the City Seasons 1-6
Sopranos Seasons 1-4
Twin Peaks Season 1

I have over 350. Thats what I collect along with games.

thats my dvd collection, no i didnt make the list all at one time lol ...ive added dvds as time has went by.....when i first made the list i had about 50 dvds

At the last count I had 200, but I think it may be 204 or 205 now. All high quality I add

Twin Peaks Season 1

My sister used to like that show but I was too young and got really freaked out by it. I'd watch it for about 5 minutes and then have nightmares for a week. I'd love to see it again now I'm a bit older but I don't think it's been released here.

I only have about 20 DVDs, mainly TV show sets. I don't tend to watch films more than a couple of times so it's a waste for me to buy them. Better to rent. Plus a friend has a huge collection (he was a film studies student) so I just borrow his.

Wow you people have alot!! Over 50 thats crazy. I only have about 20 and the rest are VCD's that I burn on CD's.

I have over 300 and im too lazy to get the exact.

Not including the wizard DVD?

This isn't my exact copy. But mine's the same (it's from the same seller). I don't have a digital camera you see.

I have a decent size collection, but only a few are prized, like my MST dvds. I also have a Vincent Price double feature, with House on Haunted Hill and Last Man On Earth (see it, it's badass, don't bother with the OMegaman).

However, none can compare to my one pride and joy...
The complete BBC Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy Miniseries (forty dollars, two disks, all the episodes on one disk, a sh*tload of extras on the other).

I also have a four dvd Akira Kurosawa collection, with Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Hidden Fortress, and Seven Samurai. So, I'm pretty proud of that, too.

I may not know of any really good places to buy old games nearby, but there's a gold mine of a video store in the Laguna Hills Mall...

cool, but i thought your dvd case was green xbox style case?

Yeah it is.

David, did you get that from a UK seller and is he selling multiple copies? I did a quick search but couldn't find it (just got swamped with Wizard of Oz ). If you have a link I'd love to see it.

Edit: nevermind I just found it. Is it good quality? I'm tempted!

We have like... 6 or 7... Something in that number.

I got swamped with all the Wizard of Oz too. The quality isn't up to usual DVD standard, but it's watchable and listenable to.

Just bought a copy. Can't wait!

Heres a few pics of my collection as of a few months ago.

holy shit. how many 1000's do you have invested in that?

Heres a few pics of my collection as of a few months ago.

That seems like a nice collection.
I should take some photos of my collection, too, but I stored my DVDs in so many different places... Which makes it quite a hard task.

I admit I have spent alot on movies, but I didnt buy all of them. I'm always getting dvds as gifts from people. Last X-mas I was given about 50 dvds.

From how many people do you get gifts?
Was it 50 people 1 disc each or how was it?
A cool thing, though.

JESUS, YOU CAN GET ALF ON DVD!! AHHHHH MY DREAMS HAVE COME TRUE

It was funny before it was every 10 year olds favourite movie.

Well, I just recently got a certain DVD by the name of...
Monty Python's Meaning of Life.

It was funny before it was every 10 year olds favourite movie.

That movie is still funny as hell dammit! Screw those 10 year olds! (not to be takin' in the same context as Michael Jackson)

EDIT: taken*

In the mail which I had already mentioned

bootleg DVD off eBay, horrible quality, good for historical and nostalgia, the last I can't experience.

What the hell is it about? The tale of the golden armadillo .

It's the 1971 Album by ELP, Featuring one 20 minute song of crazy Keyboard madness and vocal harmonies, and about 4 other OK songs. It's a awesome album. Download the song "Tarkus" of a torrent or something.

Picked up The DVD's The Big Lebowski and Orgazmo.

I have about 500 or so DVDs. I mostly collect t.v. sets, but I have a good bit of movies as well. I will post pics of my collection when I get a chance.

A forum I go to at dvdtalk.com has a thread where people post pics of their collections and some of those are just insane.

This is DVD related so I'll post it here:

I finally got a DVD burner for my computer! As soon as I can get a cable modem my DVD collection will greatly increase .

I finally got I & II. Damn good movies.

Na, the bushman looks a lot better.

It's a lot easier to collect in the US, because everything is so damn cheap, you lucky bastards over there.
I think I'd also have around 1000 if they weren't so expensive. At the beginning of my collection there are titles I paid 30$ and more for.

They just have Big Noses.

...With the same Hook on the end, and similarly positioned eyes.

Today I bought The Simpsons First Season.

Received in the mail from deep discount dvd.....

Cannibal Holocaust
Thrill Killers
Fear / Parents 2-pack

YES Going for the One tour Glasgow Scotland 1977 DVD Bootleg from Yesfans.com

arrested development season 1.

Great purchase. That show is amazing.

Edited to say - "was amazing". Stupid Fox canceling good shows.

seems like they like to do that to good shows. Family Guy got canceled when it first started.... who on earth does not like Family Guy?! can anyone honestly say that?

They canceled Titus too, that was a funny show.

seems like they like to do that to good shows. Family Guy got canceled when it first started.... who on earth does not like Family Guy?! can anyone honestly say that?

now i like family guy in all, but its way too overrated.

Last night I bought........

Grey's Anatomy: Season 1
Twilight Zone: Collection 3
Mirrormask

It depends on who you're talking to... however, you must admit that the pop culture spoofs are better than the Simpsons' ever was.

You might have a point there, still I think that The Simpsons is pretty good.

Simpsons > Futurama > Family Guy

All three are great, but there is no topping the Simpsons.

Simpsons > Futurama > Family Guy

All three are great, but there is no topping the Simpsons.

looks like you got the signs confused, i think what you meant was Simpsons < Futurama < Family Guy, remember it always eats the greater one

I agree Family Guy isn't really funny. Simpsons was there first, and it pwns it.

saying Family Guy isn't funny is like saying Christopher Lowell isn't gay....

Does anybody watch American Dad?

yeah. it's pretty good for the most part, but still nothing close to Family Guy. i'll probly buy season 1 when it comes out in the spring, along with Family Guy season 5

This whole thing gave me an idea...

...

My collection is small, but I'm working on it. Kind of the reason I haven't been around here lately.

DVDs I have:

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (One regular, one special edition)

The special edition with the badass, kinda fancy case?

...

Hey, the soundtracks alone make the movies worth it.

Just received in the mail.....

Anthropophagus - The Grim reaper

...

I got:
The Blues Brothers 25th Annivarsary
My Cousin Vinny
and Beavis and Butthead Do America.

I Bought the Boogie Nights DVD at Target

yup, and it comes with a case, looks like the real thing (till you open it up and see the dvd-r text) and at that price, i'm not to picky about what i get, it's like i'm renting a movie at half price and i get to keep it.

I read reviews on Corpse Bride and now I want to see it.
It's exactly the type of movie I'd like... I think.

Now I just have to wait until the price drops to under 10$.

I got Miyazaki's Porco Rosso as a late birthday present. I now have the following Miyazaki films;
Porco Rosso
The cat returns
the castle of castiologro
kikis delivery serVice
spirited away
laputa
naussica

i plan to get totoro & howls moving castle when they come out on monday.

I just picked up Re-Animator

Nice! Way to go!
You should really get Totoro. That's my favourite and I'm sure I've watched that over 50 times already.
"My Neighbours the Yamadas" is also hilarious.
Was that published in the UK?...
I checked amazon and it will be out in April.

I definately want to get that one too. It looks as if it could prove to be interesting. I've been contemplating importing it on region 1, but I may as well wait now.

It's worth the wait. That movie's so funny and so "Japanese".

Picked up High Spirits the other day, as any real Peter O' Toole fan should. Now, to track down King Ralph.

Yes in Bucharest VHS-DVD Transfer from my good friend darren.

Isn't Peter O' Toole the guy that came out in that movie Troy with Brad Pitt?

Picked up Howls Moving Castle

On my voyage out into a snowstorm this morning I picked up (I was bored at 4:00 am).

The Seventh Sign

Gattica

On my voyage out into a snowstorm this morning I picked up (I was bored at 4:00 am).

The Seventh Sign

Gattica

I saw Gattica! That movie was weird, it takes place in the future with genetically enhanced people and all that. The end is just messed up. You have to post what you think about it once you have watched it.

"Came out?" Ew. I hope not. If so, I'm glad I didn't see Troy.

As for Gattica, I had to see it in one of my science classes. Therefore, I remember nothing about it.

Yea me too! What the hell is up with that? Our teacher said that it showed genetic alterations or some shit like that .

at walmart i picked up:

Dawn of the Dead (new version) - $9.47 or something like that
The Pagemaster - $5.50

Tne Pagemaster owns.

exactly why i got it

Picked up Tales from the Crypt The Complete First Season for $19.99

i used to watch that show every night before bed back in elementary school

The only dvds I have is Scary Movie Three and the Zelda Animated Series collection. There's no point in buying alot of dvds if you don't like half of them so I make sure I like it before I buy it.

you sure you like that Zelda Cartoon?

It's cornyness is the charm!

Scary Movie 3....... hmm, ok I think I would rather own the POWer Rangers Box Set

Picked up Porky's at Target

I got that on my atari 2600.
still havent played it.

Ordered Howl's Moving Castle (for my wife) and Weekend at Bernie's from amazon. I should have it on Wednesday.

well, don't know about only buy dvds if i like the movie. i don't think many people go around buying dvds of movies they don't like. and if Scary Movie 3 is the only movie you like enough to buy, you've got some serious problems....

I got that on my atari 2600.
still havent played it.

That last sentence is golden.

I got that on my atari 2600.
still havent played it.Sorry i was talking about The Movie Porky's not the atari 2600 game.

Yes, but my step dad, and my dad buy random dvds and hope they like it. Since they like almost everything, they get there moneys worth 80% of the time.

I bought a twin pack DVD of

Capote

In Cold Blood (with that delightful Robert Blake chap)

(I still haven't opened and watched Gattaca yet)

The newest one was Mr. & Mrs. Smith, I want to get but can't afford it yet...but there's a ton of DVD's in the collection 'o mine, including the first 5 seasons of M*A*S*H...this is a weird request, but does anyone know if the Poldark series from the BBC network is on DVD yet?

I got Twister and Con Air last night at Hollywood Video.

Yes-Live in Satiago Chile 1994 Talk Tour DVD.

I picked up King Kong 2-Disc Special Edition DVD

I picked up Memoirs of a Geisha. ($14.45 and in Widescreen format)

It's long (145 minutes).

Wasn't nearly as good as the book (no movie really is I guess) but still was a good movie. Beautiful scenery (the japanese gardens are phenomonal).

I think what would have made it better is if the actors spoke thier native tongue (and have the english subtitles) than having them speak english and using japanese words here and there (just seemed a bit awkward).

except some of the actors are chinese (hence the playa hating in china).

Got 28 DVDs from gaming magazines for a whopping total of 3$ on eBay.

Yay! More garbage!

What were they? The Roger Corman collection?

Yay! More garbage!

That's not garbage.
Those are not aol-cds or crap like that.
These are DVDs with lots of contents, mostly trailer videos and reviews of games. Some of them also include video-game related short documentaries.

Well, m friend burned me a copy of the vintage seventies, Golgo 13 movie, the Kowloon assignment.

Unfortunately, I am currently undergoing an electronic clusterf*ck of apocolyptic proportions, so I can't watch it right now... and I want to so badly.

I picked up They Live on DVD

Jon Anderson Breakfast With the Arts
Yes & Moody Blues Hard Rock Live 1998
Yes Rio De Janeiro 1985
Yes West Palm Beach 2002
Yes Buenos Aires 1998
Yes Cagliari Italy 2004
Rick Wakeman "This is Your Life" TV Broadcast

Picked up a bunch, and all of these are better late than never..sorry, Karnov--you'll have to wait until next month.

*Sky Captain & The World Of Tomorrow
*Clue ( campy but I liked the random 3 ending feature)
*Howl's Moving Castle
*My Darling Clementine (classic western; 1946!)

I went and traded a bunch of crap games into GameStop today. You know, the likes of MM: Anniversary on the Cube, racing games, etc. While I was there, I actually took a second to browse through their DVDs. I found the DVD set of the Planet of the Apes Television Series for six bucks

The whole damn series?! I mean, damn, I can see why a season would only be six bucks, but the whole series?

Well, there were only 14 episodes made... but that's still damn cheap for something I dig so much.

/me is jealous Roth!!!

Planet of the Apes owns n00bz!

(i know this isn't irc )

If you click the link in my sig, (for my collection) there should be a chance to view some of my DVD's by clicking the link at the side.
The database is crap, I had only got to the letter "B" and was told 10 of my films don't exsist. I will add more soon, sometime next week, so its not a complete coillection yet.

Wai-wai-wait, WHAT?! Campy my ass, Clue was just damn funny.

"I'm an FBI plant."
"I thought people like you were called fruits."

Though I will admit that Murder By Death was far superior.

Wai-wai-wait, WHAT?! Campy my ass, Clue was just damn funny.

That's cuz Tim Curry's "the man".

Damn straight. Anyone who's seen Muppet Treasure Island knows that.

I'm going to have to

I'm going to have to

I think he's "the man" all the time, but whether or not he to be the man is another matter.

Picked up Beetlejuice and Falling Down at Wal-Mart

Got "John Carpenter's Vampires". It came with the May issue of "AudioVideoFoto Bild" magazine, which is 3.30 Euro. (about 4$).

How was Vampires? I've heard nothing but bad things... but it sounded kind of interesting, with the whole "nest" idea.

It isn't THAT bad.
It's not a masterpiece either.

The idea itsself is nice, but the actors are not all really convincing. And some details in the story aren't fully logical.
This is the type of movie you have to watch to know if you like it.

I would've watched it earlier, but... it's John Carpenter... he's almost as bad as Wes Craven. I'll give it a shot, though.

Wes Craven's movies are so bad, they're already good again... well, some of them.

John Carpenter kicks ass try watching The Thing or In the mouth of madness sometime awesome movies.

The Thing was good, but At the Mouth of Madness... *sigh*. It was one of his better Lovecraft-inspired camp pieces, I guess... hell, better than Reanimator. He freaking that story.

Why? Why don't people appreciate H. P. Lovecraft?

that story.

Why? Why don't people appreciate H. P. Lovecraft?

I've read all of his stories that I could get my hands on, he only did about sixty... and you have to read practically every one in order to get some idea as to what's going on.

I do have a quick recommendation, though... ask your husband to let you read the short story called "Pickman's Model". One of my favorites.

Pre ordered Mike Oldfield live in Montreux 1981 for 20 bucks

and his Elements DVD from ebay for the same price.

masters of horror John Carpenter and some other one.

Congrats to that 2 movies. It was a great choice.
Did you already watch the Yamadas? (Hint: Definitely watch it with the Japanese dub!)

No one can actually listen to English voice actors for extended periods of time. I mean, theoretically, someone can listen to a decent English voice actor for more than twenty four hours, but the grating quality of the average voice actor is just too overwhelming... I know, because my lab group tested it in science class. A male test subject was strapped to a chair and forced to watch something called "Fruits Basket" with English voice actors, while another was forced to watch it with Japanese dub, both for an extended period of time.

At exactly 14:00 hours, Test subject A broke free of the straps and stabbed himself in the head with a fork, whereas the second test subject managed to watch it until 19:00 hours, at which point he, too, stabbed himself in the head.

Science is a cruel mistress.

You know, I had a similar discussion with a friend on the topic of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

He claims that he'd HAVE to watch the japanese dub with english subs because the faces wouldn't match up with the voices on the english dub.

What I fail to see is how that's relevant at all. it's not as if he or I'm sure 99% of the other non-japanese people in the world can understand the Japanese dub. regardless of how bad the english dub may be, if you don't speak japanese, it's pointless to NOT watch it.

"but the faces don't macth up!11!11!!"

I'll take non-matching mouths over mouths that match up with words that I can't understand.

"But ALL english voice actors are terrible!11!!"

OK, and if you don't understand Japanese how exactly can you declare that they're any better?

Personally, I like to watch the movie, not spend the whole time looking at the bottom of the screen reading subs while some goon yaps on in a language I can't understand. and there isn't much choice in the matter, we kinda have to compromise on the mouth-matching until someone on our shores can make a decent animated/CG movie.

Aha, but I can Japanese while I speed read. I can't ignore terrible southern accents.

I'd have to agree.. Besides, who cares if the words don't match up? If your reading sub's then your obviously not looking at their mouths right? so why can't you apply the same to an english dub? DONT LOOK AT THEIR MOUTHS!

However, in the end it comes down to personal preferance.

I like to see a movie in its entirety. Not pressing pause and rewind and all that crap.. Just turn off your phone, lights, lock the door, and watch a movie UN-interrupted. Thats the way I like to watch movies. So for me to be looking down all the time and missing the movie ruins it. Might as well be reading a book.

You can get bad accents with movie

I'd like to make it clear that ) sub par English voice acting, which I find irredemably grating.

A good example is in Evangelion, with what's her face, the third pilot. When she first shows up, she speaks with a predominantly French accent... which quickly slips in and out of an Australian/American accent, all the while saying phrases. After that episode, she slips completely into her (very whiny) American accent. Eventually, her nationality is made clear when she is referred to as being from Germany.

Something like that is funny as hell, but it gets on your nerves after a while. Since I read rather quickly, and do not need to pause rewind, I'd take subtitles and easily ignorable Japanese audio over a screechy English audio track.

There are exceptions, like the very well done Cowboy Bebop voicovers, but the run of the mill voicovers are very irritating. Notice how the Cowboy Bebop voice actors are consistantly given new roles, and are easily recognizable? No one else is.

Since we're kinda on the top now of subtitles during movies, I'd have to agree with NES-Luke on not wanting to spend most the time reading the subtitles while that time could be spent focusing on what's happening in the movie.

What's really messed up is on Fushigi Yugi; I'm watching it in english dub and my husband always makes me have subtitles on (in english; which annoys me because it's distracting) and what they are saying on the screen is so different from the subtitles. Sometimes they are just so completely off that it induces laughter between us. If I were to have watched it in Japanese with the subs it woudn't be the same movie/show.

I was watching Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children (Blockbuster employee status = Pre-street date DVD rentals), and I have to say that I didn't mind the English dubbed version. I've never had a problem with Subtitles, but dubbing has always irritated me. Not so this time. For some strange reason, it works well. I dunno...

BEST BUY

i got Advent Children.

Did you already watch the Yamadas? (Hint: Definitely watch it with the Japanese dub!)

I have watched it, but only the English dub so far. After i've watche the rest of "whisper of the heart" (good film, i'm about halfway through) i'll watch the Japanese dub for the Yamadas.

That's the main thing that annoys me about dubs. Sometimes they completely change what the characters are saying in a lame attempt to "westernize" them. Unfortunately a lazy dub in this way can completly ruin the flow of the movie. I remember watching the english dub of Spirited Away with english subtitles running. It might as well have been two completely different scripts.

Having said that, I will still usually watch the dub on the first viewing because as others have said it is easier that way. But I don't find subtitles that much of a problem. After about 5 minutes I forget I'm even reading them.

Edit: Oh yeah and I got The Simpsons season 7 yesterday. Sweetness.

I just bought "The Butterfly Effect".

Yeah, I know such people, too.
I don't think there's a problem with voices not matching faces. Most faces in Japanese animation don't even look Japanese, so why should an English voice not fit a Western looking face?

The reason why I always preferred the Japanese dub is that it is much better in most cases.
Even back then when I didn't understand Japanese I watched movies with subtitles. Most Japanese voice actors fill out their roles in a great way.
Of course there are good English dubs, too. That's no question. But in most cases Japanese is first choice. Even if you don't understand it. (That's why they include subtitles most of the time)

I picked up Raising Arizona at Target

The Fearless Vampire Killers (aka Excuse Me But Your Teeth Are In My Neck.)

What? I'm serious. Starred the ill-fated Sharon Tate.

I just bought Heavy Metal and Reservoir Dogs at Best Buy

The Fearless Vampire Killers (aka Excuse Me But Your Teeth Are In My Neck.)

What? I'm serious. Starred the ill-fated Sharon Tate.

sounds like a classic. the name alone makes me want to see it

A word of warning: It's... odd. Meanwhile, it's funny in absurdly wierd ways. Gotta love the Brits.

I picked up two oliver stone films U-Turn and Natural Born Killers at Best Buy.

I got SmallVille Season One today.

This morning I picked up

Leap of Faith

Ah, Steve Martin.

I found a mint spiderman DVD in a box of LP's in somebodies spring clean up pile, for $0.

Spiderman for 0$ is very nice.

I bought "The Adventures of Mini-Goddess" (That's a very funny Japanese cartoon, for all who might wonder) Vol 2 and 3 off eBay for 12$ together. The SRP is 30$ each, so that was a nice find I think.

picked up The Faculty,My Science Project and Three O' Clock High on eBay.

Got 3 DVDs in the last 2 weeks.

Crocodile Dundee in a video game store. Used, for 2.40$.

Adventures of Mini Goddess Vol. 2 and 3, new for 5$ and 6$.

If you have the chance you should watch the . That cartoon is hilarious.

...

I wanna watch Crocodile Dundee now.

The second one was allright, if only because its main character was Crocodile Dundee.

I wasn't aware that there were any more sequels... As usual, morbid curiosity consumes me.

Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles (2001) was the last one. Put it this way

USA Box Office: $26 Million
Budget Estimate: $25 Million

and the second one made

USA Box Office: $109 Million
Worldwide Box Office: $240 Million

(according to Amazon.com).

I picked up UHF at Wal-mart

Picked up Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby at Target

From Drache:

Thundercats Season 1 Vol.1

Just got Iron Monkey special edition, mostly because it had Quentin Tarantino's name on it........still looking for Pulp Fiction though.

I ordered Simpsons Season 7 (Marge Head edition) from CD-WOW for 23.50 Euro. (With a 3 Euro gift voucher) On amazon it's still 50 Euro, so quite a good deal there.

2. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure

3. Life

4. Napoleon Dynamite

5. Wayne's World 1 & 2

(containing the 5 movies:

Chain Reaction

Johnny Mnemonic

Point Break

Speed

A Walk in the Clouds).

Worst. Movie. EVER!

Worst. Movie. EVER!

If you didn't enjoy the movie, you have a different sense of humour than a lot of people. That, or you just don't "get" it. I thought it was hilarious in it's stupidity, which is the whole point.

Though it must be mentioned that they stole Jim Carrey's dance number from Once Bitten.

Robot Chicken Season 1.

My life is now complete.

Optimus Prime getting Prostate Cancer is classic.

Could anybody point me in the direction of a good site where I can list my collection?
I've tried IGN but their database is crapper than crap.
Thanks.

Wrong thread there, Davie-m'-boy.

Unless he was talking about his DVD collection, which is quite possible, considering the thread he posted in.

I've been building a collection of Cheech and Chong movies and so far I have Up in Smoke and Nice Dreams.

@ David: I found site. I've never used it but it looks like it would work.

Yes, I meant my DVD collection. Thanks for the link 'poo, i'll check it out.

You could also try the .

That Movie rocked! Very good!

Yesterday I bought

Clash of the Titans

I'm currently in London, bought a couple of movies, so this is going to be a long list...

I thought about buying all of the "Alien" movies with an Alien Display Head, but I decided to go along with more movies than just one series this time. I don't really know what I missed anyway, can anyone tell me if the "Alien" movies are any good?

In the last weeks I bought some DVDs:

"Home Improvement" (Tim Allen) Seasons 4 and 5

Last week I got
"From Beijing With Love" (Stephen Chow)
I haven't watched that one yet, but the text on the back cover made me buy it.

Home Improvement rules!

*grunts* oh oh oh!
It definitely rules.

I hope the release all 8 seasons in the USA. Here in Europe Buena Vista stopped after season 3.
Now I had to get seasons 4 and 5 from the USA. I only watch the English dub anyways, but it would be more comfortable to buy German code 2 DVDs than code 1. What the heck.
I can't wait for season 6 to come out. *come on, come on*

Today I bought all the Police Academy movies.

Nice. Those movies are very funny.

The last day I got "The God of Cookery" with Stephen Chow.
We'll watch it today at a friend's place.

Last week I got the Famitsu Wave DVD September 2006 from play-asia.com.
Yesterday The Simpsons Season 8 (Maggie head edition) was in the mail.

Sweet, I'm waiting to get the hold of the Maggie Head Edition as well, instead of the normal edition.

How much do those Simpsons DVDs cost in Norway?
I'm just curious...
When they are released the SRP is 49.95 Euros (about 402 Norwegian Kroner), but after about half a year the price is lowered to 29.95 (about 241 NOK). I always buy the cheap ones.

Here in Norway the new Simpsons DVDs costs up to 62 Euros (500 NOK). At about half a year (same as in Germany), they lower the price to 37 Euros (300 NOK).

It's pricy, I know, but it's "The Simpsons", so it's worth it!

That was fast.
amazon.com shipped my order on May 14th and today I already had it in my greedy hands.
"Home Improvement - The complete 6th season".

I got the following:

What Dreams May Come (Robin Williams)
When the wind blows ()
Police Academy Complete Box (parts 1-7)
Complete Series
The Simpsons Season 9

how much did that police academy cost?

Without shipping it was 16.99 Euros. Shipping was 4.99 from Switzerland.
22 Euros (around 30$) is not that bad a deal for 7 DVDs.

Got the Red Dwarf seasons 1-4 box set recently. Haven't seen some of those episodes in so long.

Those are the four that I have : ) I can't seem to find any other seasons around here, so I'll have to find them online I think.

I really like the first episode of season 2, Kryten. The actor was a different dude than season 3 and on, but I like alot of the comedy that was on that particular episode. Especially the part where they meet the dead chicks haha

Oh yeah classic

Lister: Listen, girls. I don't know whether this is the time or place to say this but my mate, Ace, here is incredibly, 'credibly brave!
Rimmer: Smeg off, dog food face!
Lister: And he's got just tons and tons of girlfriends!

Seasons 5 and 6 are very good, but then there was a few years gap before they came back for 7 and 8 and they weren't quite as good, but still have their moments.

Got 4 new DVDs from amazon:

Shaun of the Dead
Corpse Bride
Identity
Team America: World Police

Shaun of the Dead must be one of the most funniest parodies I've ever seen, good choice there, man!

Police Academy rocks, nice find there manuel.
NES-RULE Just curious have you seen Hot Fuzz? Just as funny as Shaun Of The Dead.

Oh, yeah, I saw that a week ago. A friend of mine has it on his computer. Indeed, very funny movie as well. I bet half of the reason for it being funny is because they cast Simon Pegg in that as well.

amazon had a 4 DVDs for 20 Euros sale, so I got
Ghostbusters
Groundhog Day
The Fisher King
Xaver (a Bavarian Sci-Fi comedy)

Ghostbusters
Groundhog Day
You felt the need to watch some Bill Murray material I see.

Bill Murray is great. One of the best actors around.
I just watched Groundhog Day. Brilliant. I love that movie.

He's one of my favourite actors. I always somehow end up liking actors who does comedy mostly for some reason. I guess I'm just a big fan of the comedy genre.

Yeah, I've seen "Groundhog Day" a million times, and I love it as well. Did you ever see the movie "Scrooged" with Murray in the leading role? That's a must if you're a Bill Murray fan in my opinion.

That's a very nice movie, too. I need that DVD also.

My favorite Bill Murray movie is 'Lost in Translation'. He is great in that.

I have yet to see that one. The DVD is cheap, maybe I'll order it with my next batch.

Yeah, that's a good movie too. Not to mention "Broken Flowers", only he's serious in that movie, but still good.

Ooh, thanks for the hint. I haven't heard of that movie before.

Get it, you're going to love it, I'm sure.

It's on my "to get" list now.

Great. Let me know what you think of it. I can understand if you don't like it, because it's very special. However, it did get 86% on the tomatometer on rottentomatoes.com.

Tomatometer?

Now you got me curious. I'll watch that one for sure.

I bought the Battle Royale 1 & 2 3-Disc Box Set from an import store.
The first BR is the second greatest movie of all time, the first of course being The Crow with Brandon Lee.

monster squad.

Yay! I got "Home Improvement" Season 7 in the mail today. That was some fast shipping over the pond.
As there's no work today I can watch it right away.

Over the weekend I picked up Kung-POW, Starship Troopers, Snakes on a Plane, Nacho Libre, The Omen, Once Upon a Time in China 3, and Nine Inch Nails Live: Beside You in Time on Blu-Ray.

All were $5, aside from the blu-ray.

Aah, Kung-Pao. Very nice movie.
Make sure to listen to the "book-on-tape" version of the dialogue when it's on the DVD. Hilarious.
All for 5$... Stuff's too cheap over there. *envy*

I should have specified, $5 each.

Kung POW.. awesome movie.

No,no. I understood that it was 5$ each. But that's still damn cheap.
I wish German stores had more sales with such cheap prices.

Picked up "The Mike Judge Collection Volume 3" today, so now I have all volumes pluss the "Do America" from '96. All in all, the whole Beavis and Butt-Head collection. Finally!

300 on blu-ray from a few days ago... obviously. I'll never buy a dvd in my lifetime, but I'll buy a few here and there on blu-ray.

I prefer beta tapes on my 5 inch B&W CRT.

DVDs aren't that bad. If you've got a good upscaler, you can get very good results also on big screens.
With the latest FW updates the PS3 has an excellent upscaling function I read.

Braving Alaska $15

Not what I meant at all. I'll never buy one because I can make my own.

Well that's true. I also made lots of own DVDs and copied some. But somehow my favourite movies I want to own on retail DVD (and later when I have a PS3 and prices came down on Blu Ray). Especially when they're cheap.

Columbo - The Complete Season 1 (6DVDs)

Good one, manuel. "Columbo" is a great classic detective series. I love watching it. It's still going every now and then on TV actually.

Hey, Chris, we seem to have a similar interest in movies.

I always wanted to hear Columbo talk in English, because I only knew the German dub. Now I must say I like the German dub better than his original voice.

Yes, I have also noticed that we do have similar taste when it comes to movies, and allow me to say that you have an excellent taste.

Hehe, yeah, I can understand how you feel about the dubbing issue. I feel the same way about the "Ice Age" movies. Not that I'm a huge fan or anything, but I saw the first one in Norwegian first, then English, and I've got to tell you that I do enjoy the Norwegian version better than the original.

Thanks.
If we lived nearer to each other we could trade movies all the time.

Isn't Germany and the Netherlands like ten miles apart?

Germany and the Netherlands are neighboring countries, so they are less than 10 miles apart.
And he is from Norway, not from Holland.

Dang, how'd I forget that? I hope Chris can forgive me and remember my Birthday. ^-^

Haha, I'm not a Dutchman, Aaron. Remember that I'm Norwegian from now on.

Yeah, it would have been awesome if we would have lived more near to each other and trade movies...

Damn, someone really needs to invent Teleport machines.

Mmmhhh... teleporting machines.

I'd buy one.

Make it two of us. Damn, I would have done "The Homer Thing" with it. I would have bought one package, which comes with two machines. Then I would place one by the fridge, and then the other one beside the couch in front of the TV.

What about the one in the living room and the other in the restroom? That'd be sweet as well. ;D

Sure, can't say no to that option either.

I'd just like one that goes to work... No more 10-15 minute drives in the morning.
