Hack Derek should look at

In Off-topic

I know he's not on as much anymore, so instead of Pming it to him, I just assume post it. Do you guys think this would be a good idea?

Is this similar to the arcade they have at digital press? It would be cool to have something like that here so we could all go for high scores against each other.

Ooh! A Flash Arcade here at NESfiles.

Add it immediately Derek!

I will destroy all of you!

I pwn all at puzzle bobble.

And yes that's the first time I ever used the word "pwn", but I think it's fitting here.

I knew you would like it Zen. now we can be arcade rivals at the Nes Files aswell! (Though I have somewhat given up at Vgc for the time being)

How dare you!

...
Anyway, these games would be great (since they're on NES).

'Puzzle Bobble' is actually 'Bust-A-Move' I believe (at least that's what it was called in the U.S.).

You know, that GravitaR guy said you were a "wuss" and have no gaming skills. Um... yeah, he did.
If I were you, I'd go take some of his scores down. Really, you should.

Oh well, your 'Sonic Heroes Puzzle' hi-score should be safe for a while.

That's right.

I had a go at Micro Machines and it seems good, true to the original. Unfortunately I've had too much vodka tonight and therefore fall in the "drunk driver" league. I'll see if I do any better tomorrow.

I really should. I have been away from the arcade for awhile now. About 18 of my scores were taken that I can remember, probably more. I don't know why he calls me a "wuss" just because I don't have the free time to be on the arcade 'defending' my scores all day.

Ha! That was a joke. He said it to William, not you.
But I thought I would stir up a rivalry since Gravitar is my biggest threat over there.

Actually, you might have done better than you thought since the game is much easier to steer than the NES version. Unfortunately that 'Micro Machines' doesn't have opposing cars but there's one out there somewhere that does.

'' would rule too.

Well he's not too much of a threat. Since he won last year, I believe he's not allowed to win this year.

or maybe have the uhhh DDR thingie for Computer where u use teh arrow Keys.
I love playing that its so fun.

I think that's something that I could probably do-- it would add overall appeal to The NES Files as a whole. I like the suggestions for games below-- does anyone else have any suggestions(with links to the freely-usable swf's)? If so, post the link in this thread. Anything is good, but games similar to NES Games are by far preferred. Thanks.

I believe ALL of the following games are "freely distributed" and have been used on many various websites. I'm not sure if they are all compatible with phpBB however.

Most of these are either NES or Nintendo related, or feature a game based off of a classic arcade/console games (and others are just cool ones I found).

(Cool side-scrolling shooter)

(Seems very interesting)
(German game... I think?)
(Replica of old LCD game - Awesoime!)
(slightly different from the last one)
(Similiar to 'Marble Madness')

(Bomberman clone)

(Neo*Geo game remake, but still worth having)
(Ha!)

(Also like 'Marble Madness')

(A.K.A. 'Bust-A-Move')
(Parody of 'Choplifter')

(Q*bert clone)

(Just like 'Double Dragon'... sort of)

(A must for any "Tazmanian Devil" fans!)

(Plays like a cross between 'Mario Brothers' and 'Bombjack')
(Might not work)

(GameBoy remake... I think)

And last but certainly not least...

Any of those games can be used here, but I couldn't link directly to the .swf because they open up in javascript windows (does anyone know how to "save" those).

There should be enough games to at least experiment with.

Wow, very nicely done Z.E.N. Thanks a lot!

Very nice, Z.E.N!

I nominate you for our (non-existant) member-of-the-week-award.

Wow, the Castlevania game looks awesome.

Thanks for the list. Is it just me, or does the arcade interface look clunky and weird? What's the main appeal, guys-- the games or the high score competition? All the swf's would have to be hacked(if not already) to log the high score for the arcade to work right. I'm not sure if all of those would work... I could create a seperate site with custom interface, such as with all these games to play-- but I'm not sure if the high score part of it is the primary appeal. Thoughts?

First off, good job on the compilation of games!

Now for your question. When the game opens up in the new window, it's obvious you can't right click. Now that in itself is a javascript telling your browser not to allow right clicks on that window. Here's the beauty of it (I believe I read on another thread that you use Firefox)... you can disable javascript and tell that site to go to hell

In your browser, click on the Tools menu, then Options. Click on Web Features (on the left side of the window), and the un-check Enable Javascript. Voila! You can now right click in that window and see the source. Remember to disable javascript after the window pops up. Happy "saving."

Well it would be good if there was a highscore feature on at least some of the games. That way we could get some friendly rivalry going. If it's too much hassle though it's not that much of a big deal to have high scores.

Well thanks to Roth (I knew there was a reason why Firefox rules!)
More fun can now be added!

(Plays exactly like 'Excitebike')
('Excitebike' looking)
(Well made games in the sytle of 'Contra' and 'Gunstar Heroes')

(Very Spy Hunter-ish)
(Very Smash T.V.ish)

(Side-scrolling beat-em-up)
(Elite version of 'Missle Command')
(Great looking 'Virtua Cop' style FPS)
(Megaman style melee combat)
(Similiar to 'Alloy Boy')
(Not quite 'Punch-Out' but decent)
(Fun Ice Hockey game)
('Rad Racer' style game)
(Shooter like '1942')
('Space Invaders/Galaxian' clone)
(Side-scrolling action game in the vain of 'Rastan' or 'Rygar')
(Side-scroller with unique controls)

The whole point of the hack is to save and display the high scores. It is what links the forum to the games. Usually the link to the arcade is at the top of the page (next to "Memberlist", "Profile", "search", etc).
Registered users of this forum can have their scores logged after they submit them, and be able to see the score next to their user name. A Top 10 scorers list will be viewable from a link by each game.

I don't exactly know how the games are tied in with the site they're on, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't involve hacking into each flash.

If you just wanted to make a site with the games available to play, there wouldn't be any need for the phpBB hack - Just a web page with links to the embedded .swf files.

I hope you can figure it out. All the games just posted are phpBB compatible and have high score logging.

More fun can now be added!

This option is also available in Netscape and Opera as well. I just find Firefox more user friendly as well

Yeah, defiinitely. If it were implemented, it would be a nice addition to the Files. It's nice that we have cool people here and noone would be idiots about stuff. That's the only drawback to some sites with a Flash arcade. Luckily everyone is level-headed around here. Plus, I really want to see some Z.E.N vs. ShadowXMetalshred

I'm thinking each game does have to be hacked into to submit scores for the games though. There would be no other way to link the games to the pages without getting in the files. I believe this would require having the .fla file for these games, but I don't know honestly. If that's the case, perhaps there is a seperate site that does things like that. I have minimal experience with Flash programming at this point, so I really don't know.

All i have to say is...best..idea..ever.

I support this venture on the sole thought that this form of ePenisery will distract people from the regular postcount kind.

If it helps reduce people making shity posts with no content who are trying to increase that meaningless number beneath their avatar, I say have at it!

Plus, I think it's safe to say that all of us here enjoy playing simple games that rely on addictive gameplay rather than graphics.

BUMPED

(Because It should be )

What's the progress on this? Inquiring minds want to know.

Here. I found a few more good games...

If we don't get an interactive arcade here at NES Files, at least we'll have this thread.

(NOTE: The game I posted earlier called 'Legend of Zelda: The Lampshade of No Real Significance' was actually featured on G4TV recently. Apparently there's a cult following for that game.)

the games

one u shoot Big Foot

the other is a Fighting Game Kinda like Bloody Rage.
