Has this ever happened to you?

In Off-topic

No, that didn't ever happen to me.

That's a really bad thing. If it happened to me I might throw the controller around.

Was the game Barbie or something? Why should we laugh? Basically there's no game that could be so ashaming I think...

No it's not Barbie, that game doesn't have passwords... er at least that's what someone told me.

I've struggled with passwords before, but because of my messy handwriting rather than the game mucking up. I'm particularly good at getting 7 and > mixed up.

Maybe the game has a battery to which the passwords are saved and that battery is now dead. I have no idea if any games actually operated in that way (using a battery back up and passwords) but just a guess.

The only game I've ever played that gives you bogus passwords is Metal Gear. For some reason, when I have about a 3-star ranking, it gives out passwords that don't work. I just try and conquer the game each time I sit down with it. So yes, I feel your pain on that.

I'm only kinda hesistant towards telling the title only because it was bad mouthed by some people I know. I had to buy it though because when I was a child, my neighbor had it and he wouldn't let me play it and I had to fulfill that part of my childhood that never got fulfilled. The game was.....

(drum roll)

Goonies 2

Anyway have any of you ever played "naughty" bootleglike games on your systems? I swear growing up my neighbor had an atari game called "Beat em' and Eat em'..." I'm not joking!

I own The Goonies 2 and that didn't ever happen to me.

The Goonies II is a great game! It's nothing to be ashamed of.. as for the passwords messing up, that's never happened to me. You may have copied something down wrong.. or misinterpretted it..

By the way,.. I heard of the game Beat 'em and Eat 'em ( ) Never played it though.... looks very interesting.

Yeah, Goonies 2 rocks! I see NO reason to be hesitant about that...

As for the password (if you still have it), try switching characters that look similar. I can't remember what characters are in that game, but some things that might work are switching, say... a lowercase letter 'l' with the number '1.' Or number '0' with the letter 'O.' You may get your game back yet!

I hate passwords for that very reason, I have TERRIBLE handwriting... that, and if you have a look at the passwords for Metroid, or Kid Icarus... that's just TOO long, and has too many characters that looks similar.

as for the Atari games, I've played that one, and a few others...(Custer's Revenge)

Well, emulation is likely easier, but if you have to have the actual carts, I'd go with ebay.

Can't say it's happened to me, but I feel your fustration.
The closest i've ever come to that is getting passwords for different games mixed, very fustrating to sort out!
