I need to open up an snes, but dont know what type of screwdriver opens it up. Anyone happen to know the name? would save me alot of time at the hardware store.

Just try google and you will quickly find what you desire.

I'm sure there are cheaper ones in stores near you.

Also there was a similar thread about opening carts. I think your post would have fit in there, too. This would have saved us another thread.

NES-Luke's thread about opening carts is here

the SNES console uses a 4.5mm "inverse torx" or Game Bit and carts use a 3.8mm bit. I've been unable to find one for a reasonable price... after shipping and all it's usually around $30 and that's not even including what customs is going to tack on there either...

Alright, i have Ace, True Value, Menards and Home Depot to check, hopefully one will have what i need.

I doubt they'll have it... but if you find it post back here with where. Also you might want to see if any of those places can order it...

nowhere local carries it, so i guess i'll just buy one of these.

And it's not too expensive.

yeah, got it today and it works good.

Wish they'd ship to Canada, that's BY FAR the best price I've seen, the bits alone from most places are $7 USD each, that comes with several bits that I'd like, AND the driver for less than both bits would be...

You have friends in America. You could ask them to get that for you.
Or just ask the seller, most of them are very cooperative when it comes to shipping to other countries.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I've decided that I need this set. unfortunately I can't see an email address or anything to contact the seller to discuss alternate payment and shipping.

Also, the price seems to have risen a bit from when SUPERGodzilla ordered his. but I'm fine with that. I think my options are limited to having someone in the US order it for me...

There's always a link on the auction sites.

"Ask seller a question"

It's under seller information top-right on the site.
