How old are you?

In Off-topic

I'm just interested in how old you all are.
I'm 25. But as age grows with time (yes! ) I write the year I was born, it's 1979.
Who is the oldest one around?

I'm 19, and been gaming pretty much all of it

As far as now I am the oldest.

But how old is Roth? Married with child?
(I'm married, too, but no child )

Roth will likely be around sometime today to answer. I wouldn't want to answer for him.

I think he's 27. Just a guess.

Ah... just a hair shy! I'm actually 28, which would make me born in 1976, Year of the Dragon! Sometimes I feel older, though. Not when I play with my sons' toys, however!

that's why I didn't want to answer for him, his was a much better response, even though I knew the answer

24/1980. I think Ross might be the oldest regular poster right now...

@Roth:
Hello Mr Dragon.

Unfortunately I'm a little helpless sheep. (stupid Chinese calendar... )

I'll be 23 in a little less than a month.

Wow, i'm surprised!I thought the avarage age was much lower (no offence ment!),but me glad now.
I'm 26,1978.

Then still Roth is the oldest among us.

Cool, i like giving up my title as grandpa, hereby crowned Roth our new grandpa!

Ah...! A grandpa, huh? <old man's voice>True, I remember the days when we had to play NES in 3 ft. of snow! If you didn't beat SMB1 in under 15 minutes, you had to go to bed with no dinner!</old man's voice>

The good old days...

The good old days...

oh, that was good for a laugh

Hehehe yup, back in the days, bare feet, damn that was hardcore .

19

I'm 17. Born in 1987. I'm still a youngen.

damn. i feel so young now. im 16

So far I'm the youngest, I'm 14 years old. Born 1991!

I wonder when some of you super young folk played the NES, I mean, 1991, the SNES was released then, and by the time you were old enough to play anything the SNES would have been cheap.

Yeah i wonder that too sometimes, still cool they go back to basic, before there time when all that 3d stuff is out and all.

oh yeah, I'm not complaining or anything, just curious.

That's how I'm starting my son into gaming. The NES and Genesis. He seems to like the NES better. He really loves the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! He got to Bebop and beat him for the first time four days ago! He's only three! He's going to be beating the h*ll out of some games, I can see it already!

I'm 17. Born in the year of the rabbit: 1987. I've lived, breathed, ate, and known NES. I'm not a "Know your roots" guy. I am a hardcore true fan who thinks this Hot topic fad is an insult , though I admittedly have a few T-shirts. ^_^

I wish I had a few of the shirts. Fad or no, if it's NES, I'll sport it! I've read on other forums that there is this big thing with people who don't play NES, wearing the clothes. I say, "So?" It does nothing but promote the system that we all know and love. It doesn't matter.

Thats kinda what I meant.

By the time you were old enough to hold a controller, NES was almost dead! Still, it's cool to see the younger people into older systems.

Actually I was 2 when I started playing. My parents got rid of the NES in 1993 For an Atari 7800 (why??),then bought the system back 2 years later.

He, He! Yeah, I've also played the SNES, but I don't think that it is so much fun like the NES. I think that the old games are much more fun than the new ones. I guess I've always liked the NES because it was the first machine I got from my parents, and played alot with some of my older friends...

Man, all I ever had was the NES and SNES. I started with the NES, though we bought it used in like 1990. I didn't play very much then, being that I was only 3. We got the SNES sometime. That was fun. I remember being like 10 or so and playing FF2. Damn, those were the days.

im probably the youngest on the forum at a tender age of 14

I hope the newest members will post here, too...

Yup

I am 15 going on 16 this march. I remember my cousin was like 18 when I was 7, I got to sleepver at his house for about 5 days, I remembwered playing NES. I did not care about how bad the graphics wer compared to SNES either. I remember he gave it too mecause my brother's (who is 30 now) was broken. Huring 9-11 was when I had the most fun. Faxanadu was my favorite and I loved playing

Star Tropics

Willow (Great Zelda-like game, I swear most movie-based game creators could learn from this game, it was so good, I never knew it was baced off a movie, most movie-based off games suck now)

Black Ninja (I think that was the name)

Contra

Bad Dudes

Renegade

Blades of Steel

Marios 1, 2, and 3

After that, the GCN, PS2, and Xbox revolutuion came in :p

Also I can't find my Game Genie (Which was for some reason what made my NES Games work better) so I probably need a new pin for the NeS.

16..... for another 12 days

I'm 23. Looking at the other ages in this thread I think that makes me about average. Nothing like being average!

21 from 1983.

And my earliest videoagme memory was that my dad's friend had a ROB. My siblings and I couldn't figure it out for a damn, so we resorted to the good old Super Mario Bros.

im 16, i'll be 17 in about a month, my dad gave me his NES when i was about 5 years old, i had it up until '96, i also had a genesis at the time

i was born in '88, im a dragon too

Well, so far it seems I'm still grandpa!

I feel old.

I wouldn't say grandpa...
What about if all the younger posters called you "dad" at first?

Heeheh i will be 27 within a few months, damn were getting old.

I'm 27 next year.
Don't call it old... let's say mature.

I'm 20 and I was 7 when I started playing.

...

me, im uhh 13 getting as old as grandpa in a few years.

I'm 14, and I'm going to turn 15 in May. Started gaming with my brothers NES, and loved it! I played it forever. Then I played SNES, and I loved all the games for that system. Then, we got a Genesis, and it had great games. But then, a sad day came when my brother sold both systems(NES, and SNES) for some money, and the N64. I still had my genesis, but it wasn't the same as NES and SNES. Just recently (a year ago ish) I got both systems back.(bought them) I'm having game memories back. But since I grew up most my life with N64, thats why I have 55 games for it, and play it eveyday. (atleast everyday I play games).

I'm 12... I collect games, and now, I make flash videos 24/7.

I'm 13. Dude, theres someone younger than me here????

I'm same as you can see.NES-DUDE is 12.

I'm same as you can see? Huh? What does that mean? Does not compute.

I thought I was young when I made an entrence to this thread. I was 15 at the time, turned 16 back on March 24th

I feel like I'm the only 6th grader in the world who know what happend before the year 2000.

that would be because you are... sad what most kids miss out on...

Really sad most kids in my class don't even know what a super nintendo is!

It is sad to see what kids don't know. I wasn't born the year the NES was out, but I still started from my NES and up. (but Istill play my NES, SNES, N64)

I agree whith Malon. And it ticks me off when 40 year olds say that all kids 12 and under just play whith Shrek games and Playstation2. That's the oppisite off me. Don't judge a man untill you walk two moons in his moccasins.

I'm happy that you don't NES Dude. Kids these days (even though I'm only a couple years older then 12) need to go back to their roots. The other day, I was at EB games, and a 10 year old was going to buy GTA:SA, . I though to myself, what happened when kids would go and pick up a copy of Mario Brothers 1,2,3. Now their picking up a game where you steel cars, and rape women. (and his mom let him buy it) That is why I am very happy that Nintendo came out with the Classic NES series for GBA. It got my little cousin into NES Games.

Hell, i've been into NES when i was born and i very very very very very very very well maybe not that much but DESPISE GTA games.

Eversince I was 4, I have been a big fan of oldschool nintendo.

Probably the moms who buy it, don't know that.

Well, the guy there (at the store) told them what it was rated M for.

Probably the moms who buy it, don't know that.

I played the game and it was not so bad. People only like it because i's violent, it make a horrible 3rd person title though. I hate it when those kids think they are cool when they have those games. Buy a game you like, not one you will play cause older kids play it

You're so right.
Many people today buy games because they are considered "cool" or played by "cool" people.
But let them play their "adult" stuff and we play our "kiddie" NES.

LOL Manuel. Both of you guys are right. Someone from my school though I was weird, because I was playing both Banjo_Kazooie, and Resident Evil 4. He said, "how come your playing a gay game with a cool game." To me, they're both great great games!

BK was not gy, the game was pretty good for a "supposed" kiddie title. I am one of those people who can only play "kiddie games if they are classics though like Mario Brothers and stuff. Games now like Harvest Moon, Crash Bandicoot, and Animal crossing, I just can't get into.

I love Animal Crossing.
I also have Crash Bandicoot for Gamecube. It's a solid, but not perfect game. Once I played through it I never touched it again.

I like Animal Crossing too, but I don't really like Harvest Moon, and I don't like that game...something like veautful joe...or something like that.

I think Crash Bandicoot is boring. I like Spyro though!

Well, I suppose to return to the topic at hand, I'm 17. I've been playing NES since so far as I remember, but I first became entirely serious about the system about 2 years ago. I will say that the NES has the most decent titles of any system yet, but it doesn't exempt it from atrocities such as Yo! Noid (and this kind of stuff is still happening now, as we all know). However, it was a time when games pioneered difference and is the console that revolutionized the idea of one, and therefore it's THE system to have.

wow, i had no idea, y'all are old! im only 12 hehe

You can't call us old... call us older than you, that's fine.

Only Roth is really old.

You can't call us old... call us older than you, that's fine.

Only Roth is really old.

lol. Anyways, my B-Day is on May 6th, and I'm going to be 15! Can't wait.

Yes, I am pretty old!

One cool thing has happened as far as the age deal. I found someone on another NES forum that's 32! Sweet! Now I don't feel like the absolute oldest being ever to play NES! ha!

I'm 7 and 1 haff?

I don't know if that makes me the oldest, but I'm am married, with 2kids that are married and have kids of there own, which at last count 3granddaughters 2grandsons of various ages.
cmrun1

That makes you the oldest on this board.

That makes Roth young again.

In the old Club Nintendo magazines in Germany they sometimes featured gamers who were over 70 (that was about 10-13) years ago. Roth, you're still far away from that. Don't worry and keep on gaming.

Well, personally, I do know some quite old gamers. My grandfather right now is about 78 and he's the only guy I know around his age to have beaten all the Sonic games for the Genesis. Not only that, he wHoops me at Columns whenever we play (he's got crazy skill). I find it somewhat sad our very old gamers are few and far between...

Columns!!!! I loved that game. When I was younger, my brother would beat me all the time. Then he sold it, but just recently...I was at ebgames, and they had the game. I bought it for 99cents. Now I can beat him easily. I guess hes getting too old .

Hi, I was born in 1981. So that makes me 24.

Hey, nice to see some GrandPas involved in playing Video Games. Well, I can assure all, this trend will continue in the days to come.

I also think this trend will continue. Because we, the "retro gamers" will grow older and at least I won't stop gaming for a long time.
I think many more people will go back to older games in the next years. As good new games may look with their "3D" graphics and such, there will always be hunger for games as they were in the beginning: simple and good.

I'm 25...... but a 17 year old at heart.
I'm the only girl I know who acually plays video games.
Am I a dying breed????

My mum (aged 50) still plays Tetris and the original mario.
I am 20 myself, born in 1985.

I'm 22. Born in 83. I played NES as I was a kid. Sadly, I never beat mario 1.

I have beat the first 3 Marios, but I was never very good at teris. I love the game, but I....I'm horrable. Anyways, to say on topic. I turned 15 on May 6th. Also, sometimes I will be in bed, around 11:00, to 12:00, and I'll heard my dad, (49) playing Super Mario Bros. (when my NES is down stairs)

If you have a SNES you may want to try Mario Allstars. You can save at the start of every world on Mario 1-3.

A friend of mine used to do that when we were kids. I learnt not to sit next to him while he was playing unless I wanted to risk being smacked in the face!

Ah! Where has cmrun1 been? ...am I doomed to remain the oldest poster? Hopefully he comes back soon! I may become grandpa again!

Don't feel bad Roth....I know how you feel. except the opposite and I have beaten alll the actual marios like 1-3 and sunshine and N64 I m in the middle of the Paper MAriosthough.
